Expression significance of biomarker MORC4 in colorectal cancer patients and its relationship with pathological features and prognosis

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)is one of the most common malignant gastrointestinal tumors worldwide,with high incidence and mortality *** To investigate the expression significance of the chromatin-remodeling protein MORC family CW-type zinc finger 4(MORC4)as a biomarker in CRC patients,and to explore its relationship with pathological features and *** A total of 143 CRC specimens and 57 adjacent tissue specimens,surgically removed from our hospital between January 2020 and January 2021,were ***4 protein expression was assessed using immunohistochemistry after paraffin *** relationship between MORC4 protein expression and clinicopathological characteristics of patients was ***-Meier survival curves were plotted to analyze the relationship between MORC4 protein expression and prognosis in CRC *** Compared with adjacent tissues,the expression rate of MORC4 protein in CRC tissues was significantly higher(P0.05).However,significant differences were found in the high expression rate of MORC4 protein in patients with different degrees of differentiation,lymph node metastasis,distant metastasis,tumor-lymph node-metastasis stage,and serum carcinoembryonic antigen levels(P<0.05).Compared with patients with low MORC4 expression,patients with high MORC4 expression had a worse prognosis(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The upregulation of MORC4 expression in CRC patients is closely related to disease severity and prognosis,suggesting its potential as an evaluation biomarker,which warrants further investigation.

Polymers of intrinsic microporosity(PIMs)have received considerable attention for making high-performance membranes for carbon dioxide separation over the last two decades,owing to their highly permeable porous ***,challenges regarding its relatively low selectivity,physical aging,and plasticisation impede relevant industrial adoptions for gas *** address these issues,several strategies including chain modification,post-modification,blending with other polymers,and the addition of fillers,have been developed and ***-1 is the most investigated PIMs,and hence here we review the stateof-the-arts of the modification strategies of PIM-1 critically and discuss the progress achieved for addressing the aforementioned challenges via ***,the development of PIM-1-based thin film composite membranes is commented as well,shedding light on their potential in industrial gas *** hope that the review can be a timely snapshot of the relevant state-of-the-arts of PIMs guiding future design and optimisation of PIMs-based membranes for enhanced performance towards a higher technology readiness level for practical applications.

A Comparative Study of Purge Flow Aero-Thermal Performance under Pre-Swirl and Rotational Conditions

Investigating the interaction between purge flow and main flow in gas turbines is crucial for optimizing thermal management,and enhancing aerodynamic *** the high-speed rotating rotor poses challenges;however,employing the pre-swirl method to model rotational effect can facilitate experimental *** study evaluates the validity of the pre-swirl method for modeling rotational *** simulations are conducted under both stationary conditions,with seven swirl ratios,and rotational *** investigation focuses on the underlying mechanisms of pre-swirl and ***-swirl and rotation impart circumferential velocity to the purge flow relative to the blade,resulting in a diminishing effect on endwall *** the other hand,pre-swirl reduces the adverse pressure gradient,and the rotation generates Coriolis forces acting on the passage vortex,both contribute to an increasing effect on endwall *** pre-swirl condition,the diminishing effect is dominant,while in rotational condition,neither the diminishing nor the increasing effect exhibits an overwhelmingly dominant trend.

CMOS direct conversion X-ray detector coupled with fluorinated liquid

Optimized Temporary Frequency Support for Wind Power Plants Considering Expanded Operational Region of Wind Turbines

Wind power plants(WPPs)are increasingly mandated to provide temporary frequency support to power systems during contingencies involving significant power ***,the frequency support capabilities of WPPs under derated operations remain insufficiently investigated,highlighting the potential for further improvement of the frequency *** paper proposes a bi-level optimized temporary frequency support(OTFS)strategy for a *** implementation of the OTFS strategy is collaboratively accomplished by individual wind turbine(WT)controllers and the central WPP ***,to exploit the frequency support capability of WTs,the stable operational region of WTs is expanded by developing a novel dynamic power control approach in WT *** approach synergizes the WTs'temporary frequency support with the secondary frequency control of synchronous generators,enabling WTs to release more kinetic energy without causing a secondary frequency ***,a model predictive control strategy is developed for the WPP *** strategy ensures that multiple WTs operating within the expanded stable region are coordinated to minimize the magnitude of the frequency drop through efficient kinetic energy ***,comprehensive case studies are conducted on a real-time simulation platform to validate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Investigation into enhanced performance of toluene and Hg0 stimulative abatement over Cr-Mn oxides co-modified columnar activated coke

In this study,a string of Cr-Mnco-modified activated coke catalysts(XCryMn1-y/AC)were prepared to investigate toluene and Hg0 removal *** characterizations including XRD,TEM,SEM,in situ DRIFTS,BET,XPS and H_(2)-TPR showed that 4%Cr0.5Mn0.5/AC had excellent physicochemical properties and exhibited the best toluene and Hg0 removal efficiency at 200◦*** varying the experimental gas components and conditions,it was found that too large weight hourly space velocity would reduce the removal efficiency of toluene and *** O_(2) promoted the abatement of toluene and Hg0,the inhibitory role of H_(2)O and SO_(2) offset the promoting effect of O_(2) to some *** significantly inhibited Hg0 removal,resulting from that toluene was present at concentrations orders of magnitude greater than mercury’s or the catalyst was more prone to adsorb toluene,while Hg0 almost exerted non-existent influence on toluene *** mechanistic analysis showed that the forms of toluene and Hg0 removal included both adsorption and oxidation,where the high-valent metal cations and oxygen vacancy clusters promoted the redox cycle of Cr^(3+)+Mn^(3+)/Mn^(4+)+Cr^(6+)+Mn^(2+),which facilitated the conversion and replenishment of reactive oxygen species in the oxidation process,and even the CrMn1.5O4 spinel structure could provide a larger catalytic interface,thus enhancing the adsorption/oxidation of toluene and ***,its excellent physicochemical properties make it a costeffective potential industrial catalyst with outstanding synergistic toluene and Hg0 removal performance and preeminent resistance to H_(2)O and SO_(2).

Genes and proteins expressed at different life cycle stages in the model protist Euplotes vannus revealed by both transcriptomic and proteomic approaches

Sexual reproduction first appeared in unicellular protists and has continued to be an essential biological process in almost all *** protists, which contain both germline and somatic genomes within a single cell, have evolved a special form of sexual reproduction called conjugation that involves mitosis, meiosis, fertilization, nuclear differentiation, genome rearrangement, and the development of unique cellular structures. The molecular basis and mechanisms of conjugation vary dramatically among ciliates, and many details of the process and its regulation are still largely unknown. In order to better comprehend these processes and mechanisms from an evolutionary perspective, this study provides the first comprehensive overview of the transcriptome and proteome profiles during the entire life cycle of the newly-established marine model ciliate Euplotes vannus. Transcriptome analyses from 14 life cycle stages(three vegetative stages and 11 sexual stages) revealed over 26,000 genes that are specifically expressed at different stages, many of which are related to DNA replication,transcription, translation, mitosis, meiosis, nuclear differentiation, and/or genome rearrangement. Quantitative proteomic analyses identified 338 proteins with homologs associated with conjugation and/or somatic nuclear development in other ciliates, including dicer-like proteins, Hsp90 proteins, RNA polymerase Ⅱ and transcription elongation factors, ribosomal-associated proteins, and ubiquitin-related proteins. Four of these homologs belong to the PIWI family, each with different expression patterns identified and confirmed by RT-qPCR,which may function in small RNA-mediated genome rearrangement. Proteins involved in the nonhomologous end-joining pathway are induced early during meiosis and accumulate in the developing new somatic nucleus, where more than 80% of the germline sequences are eliminated from the somatic genome. 羊毛是重要的畜牧产品,由毛囊发育而来。毛囊是皮肤组织衍生的微器官,由毛囊干细胞、毛乳头、毛母质、外根鞘和内根鞘等20多种细胞组成,结构及细胞间通讯复杂。因此,提高羊毛产量和品质的前提是充分了解各种细胞相互作用下的毛囊发育特征。目前,细胞培养技术主要分为2D细胞培养和3D细胞培养。传统的2D细胞培养技术培养毛囊相关细胞时,与体内生长状况差距较大,毛发诱导能力逐渐丧失。3D细胞培养是将细胞在模拟组织和器官特异性的3D结构中进行培养,通过模拟天然环境,允许细胞聚集成为一定的形态,并且促进细胞-细胞的交流、细胞-细胞外基质的交流,从而恢复一定的在体功能,弥补了传统2D细胞培养的缺陷。本文简单介绍了3D细胞培养模型及种类、构建方法及在毛囊发育和生命科学相关研究中的应用,并展望了3D细胞培养技术在毛囊发育研究和其它领域的发展前景。
