Linking nutrient resorption stoichiometry with plant growth under long-term nitrogen addition

Increased nitrogen(N)input can potentially lead to secondary phosphorus(P)limitation;however,it remains unclear whether differences in the plant's ability to cope with this P deficiency are related to their growth *** a long-term experiment of N addition in a boreal forest,we explored the potential role of plant nutrient resorption efficiency and its stoichiometry in mediating plant growth responses to increased N *** recorded the cover and measured the concentration and resorption efficiency of leaf N and P as well as the photosynthesis of a grass Deyeuxia angustifolia and a shrub Vaccinium *** cover of the grass *** increased with increasing N addition,while that of the shrub ***-idaea decreased with N addition rate and almost disappeared from the high-level N addition over time.P resorption efficiency(PRE)increased in *** but decreased in ***-idaea with increasing leaf N:P which was increased by N addition for both *** addition,photosynthesis increased linearly with N resorption efficiency(NRE)and PRE but was better explained by NRE:PRE,changing nonlinearly with the ratio in a hump-shaped ***,the variance(CV)of NRE:PRE for ***-idaea(123%)was considerably higher than that for ***(29%),indicating a more stable nutrient resorption stoichiometry of the *** together,these results highlight that efficient P acquisition and use strategy through nutrient resorption processes could be a pivotal underlying mechanism driving plant growth and community composition shifts under N enrichment.

Microwave irradiation-induced alterations in physicochemical properties and methane adsorption capability of coals:An experimental study using carbon molecular sieve

In order to comprehend the applicability of microwave irradiation for recovering coalbed methane,it is necessary to evaluate the microwave irradiation-induced alterations in coals with varying levels of *** this work,the carbon molecular sieve combined with KMnO_(4)oxidation was selected to fabricate carbon molecular sieve with diverse oxidation degrees,which can serve as model substances toward ***,the microwave irradiation dependences of pores,functional groups,and highpressure methane adsorption characteristics of model substances were *** results indicated that microwave irradiation causes rearrangement of oxygen-containing functional groups,which could block the micropores with a size of 0.40-0.60 nm in carbon molecular sieve;meanwhile,naphthalene and phenanthrene generated by macro-molecular structure pyrolysis due to microwave irradiation could block the micropores with a size of 0.70-0.90 *** alterations in micropore structure weaken the saturated methane adsorption capacity of oxidized carbon molecular sieve by 2.91%-23.28%,suggesting that microwave irradiation could promote methane ***,the increased mesopores found for oxidized carbon molecular sieve after microwave irradiation could benefit CH4 *** summary,the oxidized carbon molecular sieve can act as model substances toward coals with different ***,microwave irradiation is a promising technology to enhance coalbed methane recovery.

Assessing clogging potential and optimizing driving parameter of slurry shield tunneling in clay stratum assisted with CFD-DEM modeling

This paper proposed a two-way coupled computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and discrete element method(DEM)approach to analyze the evolution of clogging in slurry shield tunneling *** interactions between clay particles and slurry were considered by exchanging three interaction forces,including buoyancy force,pressure gradient force,and drag *** CFD-DEM coupling approach was first benchmarked by comparing cutterhead torque and total thrust with field monitored data of a practical slurry shield tunnel *** evolution process of the particle phase and the fluid phase over time was *** results indicated that fewer than 70%of the particles can be washed away in time by the circulating *** 9%of the particles adhered to the submerged wall,resulting in increased cutterhead torque and *** parametric analysis,the influence of the shield driving parameters on the clay clogging behavior is further *** time history of cutterhead torque or thrust can be used as a criterion for judging whether clogging has ***,a new assessment method of clogging risk and an optimization strategy of driving parameters were proposed,which were intended to provide some guidance for similar projects.

Identification of a Cytoplasmic Male Sterile Line NEA in Brassica napus *** Its Genetic Studies

Male sterile NEA plants were identified in progenies of the radiated 92P x Aggregate-silique in Brassica napus L. in 1993. Their progeny plants from test crossing and open pollination were 100% male sterile. The double-low male sterile lines JL-4 and JL-18 were bred through successive backcrossing of the double -low variety No.4 and No. 18 in Brassica napus *** NEA. Restorer lines 6720 and 6722 with significant heterosis in F1 were developed. The results from investigating the restoring-ntaintaining relationship and inheritance of the restorer gene indicated that JL-4 and JL-18 were different from both PolCMS and Shan 2A type, and their restorer gene was controlled by a pair of dominant genie genes.

Green hydrogen is urgently required for sustainable development of human beings and rational construction of heterostructures holds great promising for photocatalytic hydrogen ***,2D/2D WSe_(2)/ZnIn_(2)S_(4) heterostructures with strong hetero-interface interaction and abundant contact were constructed via an impregnation-annealing *** charge transfer from ZnIn_(2)S_(4) to WSe_(2)was evidenced by transient absorption spectroscopy in crafted heterostructures owing to the tight and2D face-to-face *** a result,the prepared WSe_(2)/ZnIn_(2)S_(4) heterostructures exhibited boosted photocatalytic performance and a highest hydrogen evolution rate of 3.377 mmol/(g h)was achieved with an apparent quantum yield of 45.7%at 420 *** work not only provides new strategies to achieve efficient 2D/2D heterostructures but also paves the way for the development of green hydrogen in the future.

Winter-spring minimum temperature variations inferred from tree-ring δ^(13)C in southeastern China

Long-term temperature variations inferred from high-resolution proxies provide an important context to evaluate the intensity of current ***,tem-perature reconstructions in humid southeastern China are scarce and particularly lack long-term data,limiting us to obtain a complete picture of regional temperature *** this study,we present a well-verified reconstruction of winter-spring(January–April)minimum temperatures over southeastern China based on stable carbon isotopic(δ^(13)C)records of tree rings from Taxus wallichiana *** from 1860 to *** reconstruction accounted for 56.4%of the total observed *** periods occurred during the 1860s–1910s and 1960s–*** temperatures have had an upward trend since the 1920s,most of the cold extremes were in recent *** El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)variance acted as a key modulator of regional winter-spring minimum temperature ***,teleconnections between them were a nonlinear process,i.e.,a reduced or enhanced ENSO variance may result in a weakened or intensified temperature-ENSO relationship.

Optimal Operation with Dynamic Partitioning Strategy for Centralized Shared Energy Storage Station with Integration of Large-scale Renewable Energy

As renewable energy continues to be integrated into the grid,energy storage has become a vital technique supporting power system *** effectively promote the efficiency and economics of energy storage,centralized shared energy storage(SES)station with multiple energy storage batteries is developed to enable energy trading among a group of *** this paper,we propose the optimal operation with dynamic partitioning strategy for the centralized SES station,considering the day-ahead demands of large-scale renewable energy power *** implement a multi-entity cooperative optimization operation model based on Nash bargaining *** model is decomposed into two subproblems:the operation profit maximization problem with energy trading and the leasing payment bargaining *** distributed alternating direction multiplier method(ADMM)is employed to address the subproblems *** reveal that the optimal operation with a dynamic partitioning strategy improves the tracking of planned output of renewable energy entities,enhances the actual utilization rate of energy storage,and increases the profits of each participating *** results confirm the practicality and effectiveness of the strategy.

Enrichment and reconfiguration of titanium-bearing phase in vortex smelting reduction process of vanadium-titanium magnetite

To comprehensively utilize the low-iron high-vanadium-titanium magnetite,a new method of vortex smelting reduction of vanadium-titanium magnetite was proposed,and the enrichment and reconstitution regularity of Ti-bearing phases in the slag was investigated through X-ray fluorescence spectrometry,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction analysis,and optical *** phase diagram revealed that the preferential crystallization of MgTi_(2)O_(5) can be achieved by adjusting the CaO,MgO,and TiO_(2) contents of *** predominant Ti-bearing phases in the slag obtained from the reduction process are MgxTi_(3_x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1)and CaTiO_(3).FeTiO_(3) is present at carbon-iron ratio(CR)=1.3,while MgTi_(2)O4 and TiC are formed at CR=*** enrichment of TiO_(2) in the slag increases first and then decreases as the CR increases,and at CR=1.1,the enrichment of TiO_(2) in the slag reaches 51.3 wt.%.Additionally,the concentrations of MgxTi_(3_x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1)and CaTiO_(3) in the slag,along with the grain width of MgxTi_(3_x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1),decrease with the increase in CR.

Application of surfactant for improving leaching process of weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ores

Weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ores(WREOs)in China are the main source of medium and heavy rare earths in the *** order to improve the seepage and the mass transfer of traditional ammonium salt leaching process of WREOs,surfactants were added in the ammonium sulfate leaching solution and the ammonium chloride leaching *** leaching kinetics,the mass transfer process,and the adhesion work reduction factor calculated from the interfacial properties were studied to reveal the strengthening mechanism of *** the presence of the tested five surfactants,cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB),dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(DTAB),sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS),sodium oleate and oleic acid,the permeability of WREOs is improved,the rare earth(RE)leaching efficiency increase and the impurity aluminum(Al)leaching efficiency decrease,indicating its promotional effect on the leaching process of ***,CTAB shows a better leaching enhancement,and the optimal addition dosage is 0.4 g/L for the two ammonium salt leaching agent *** kinetics analysis shows the internal diffusion controls model of RE and Al leaching process,and the leaching kinetics equations of RE and Al related to CTAB concentration were obtained for the two ammonium salt leaching *** to the chromatographic plate theory,the mass transfer efficiency of RE increases with the CTAB concentration increasing until 0.4 g/L,which confirms that the optimal CTAB addition is 0.4 g/*** adhesion work and adhesion work reduction factor indicate more favorable permeation as well as the leaching process.
