Genetic Polymorphism in the Second Exon of HLA-DRB1 in Cervical Cancer

OBJECTIVE The aim of this investigation was to assess the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） in HLA-DRB1 and the risk of developing cervical cancer. Our study focused on the second exon of the HLA-DRB1 alleles, which have most of the SNP sites on HLA-DRB1. METHODS We examined 30 cervical cancer patients and 66 control patients using the sequence-based typing polymerase chain reaction technique （PCR-SBT） to type 55 single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） and haplotypes in the second exon of HLA-DRB1. The Chi-square test and the Bonferroni correction method were utilized for the statistical analysis of the data. An association between the alleles and cervical cancer was examined by the linkage disequilibrium test and the odds ratio （OR）. RESULTS Compared with the control group, among the 55 SNPs we studied in the second exon of HLA-DRB1, 4 showed an evident association with cervical cancer. Rs17880292 （P = 0.033, OR = 0.322） and rs1059586 （P = 0.029, OR = 2.657） had positive significance for the risk of developing cervical cancer, while rs17879702 （P = 0.016, OR = 0.222） and rs17882525 （P = 0.025, OR = 0.128） were negative. The difference in frequency of the 5582A-5592A-5667T haplotype between cervical cancer patients and the controls was significant （P = 0.043, OR = 2.735）. CONCLUSION The rs17880292 G/A genotype and the rs1059586 A/A genotype could be linked to an increased risk of cervical cancer. Rs17879702 and rs17882525 might be haplotype-tag SNPs （htSNPs） or belong to some other haplotypes, which might exert a protective effect against cervical cancer in combination. The 582A-5592A-5667T haplotype was shown to be a marker for susceptibility to cervical carcinogenesis.

Fe-N-doped carbon materials(Fe-N-C)are promising candidates for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)relative to Pt-based catalysts in proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs).However,the intrinsic contributions of Fe-N_(4)moiety with different chemical/spin states(e.g.D1,D2,D3)to ORR are unclear since various states coexist *** the present work,Fe-N-C core-shell nanocatalyst with single lowspin Fe(Ⅱ)-N_(4)species(D1)is synthesized and identified with ex-situ ultralow temperature Mossbauer spectroscopy(T=1.6 K)that could essentially differentiate various Fe-N_(4)states and invisible Fe-O *** quantifying with CO-pulse chemisorption,site density and turnover frequency of Fe-N-C catalysts reach 2.4×10^(-9)site g^(-1)and 23 e site~(-1)s^(-1)during the ORR,***-wave potential(0.915V_(RHE))of the Fe-N-C catalyst is more positive(approximately 54 mV)than that of Pt/***,we observe that the performance of PEMFCs on Fe-N-C almost achieves the 2025 target of the US Department of Energy by demonstrating a current density of 1.037 A cm^(-2)combined with the peak power density of 0,685 W cm^(-2),suggesting the critical role of Fe(Ⅱ)-N_(4)site(D1).After 500 h of running,PEMFCs still deliver a power density of 1.26 W cm^(-2)at 1.0 bar H_(2)-O_(2),An unexpected rate-determining step is figured out by isotopic labelling experiment and theoretical *** work not only offers valuable insights regarding the intrinsic contribution of Fe-N_(4)with a single spin state to alkaline/acidic ORR,but also provides great opportunities for developing high-performance stable PEMFCs.

Construction of a multifunctional Ti3C2Tx MXene/g-C3N4 artificial protective layer for dendrite-free aqueous Zn-ion batteries

The electrochemical utilization of Zn anodes in aqueous batteries is hampered by the intricate and interconnected issues of Zn dendrite growth,H2evolution and Zn corrosion *** this study,a multifunctional protective layer comprising MXene and graphitic carbon nitride （g-C3N4） was constructed using a self-assembly *** MXene/g-C3N4protective layer exhibited robust zincophilic characteristics,which facilitated a uniform distribution of the electric field and ensured a sufficient influx of Zn2+.This reduces the Zn2+nucleation barrier and prevents dendrite *** addition,the hydrophobic nature of the protective layer,coupled with its negative charge,can repel SO42-and select water molecules from the electrolyte,which aids in mitigating corrosion and *** symmetric Zn cell coated with the MXene/g-C3N4protective layer showed remarkable stability,achieving over 2000 h of reversible cycling at1 mA·***,the MXene/g-C3N4-coated Zn anode paired with a sodium-doped V2O5cathode （NVO）exhibited enhanced cycling capability over 1500 cycles.

Variation Characteristics of Root Traits of Different Alfalfa Cultivars under Saline-Alkaline Stress and their Relationship with Soil Environmental Factors

Soil salinization is the main factor that threatens the growth and development of plants and limits the increase of *** is of great significance to study the key soil environmental factors affecting plant root traits to reveal the adaptation strategies of plants to saline-alkaline-stressed soil *** this study,the root biomass,root morphological parameters and root mineral nutrient content of two alfalfa cultivars with different sensitivities to alkaline stress were analyzed with black soil as the control group and the mixed saline-alkaline soil with a ratio of 7:3 between black soil and saline-alkaline soil as the saline-alkaline treatment *** the same time,the correlation analysis of soil salinity indexes,soil nutrient indexes and the activities of key enzymes involved in soil carbon,nitrogen and phosphorus cycles was carried *** results showed that compared with the control group,the pH,EC,and urease(URE)of the soil surrounding the roots of two alfalfa cultivars were significantly increased,while soil total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP),organic carbon(SOC),andα-glucosidase activity(AGC)were significantly decreased under saline-alkaline *** was no significant difference in root biomass and root morphological parameters of saline-alkaline tolerant cultivar GN under saline-alkaline *** number of root tips(RT),root surface area(RS)and root volume(RV)of AG were reduced by 61.16%,44.54%,and 45.31%,respectively,compared with control *** ratios of K^(+)/Na^(+),Ca^(2+)/Na^(+)and Mg^(2+)/Na^(+)of GN were significantly higher than those of AG(pweight(RFW)and dry weight(RDW),root length(RL),RV and RT of alfalfa were positively regulated by soil SOC and TN,but negatively regulated by soil pH,EC,and URE(p<0.01).Root Ca^(2+)/Na+ratio was significantly positively correlated with soil TN,TP and SOC(p<0.01).The absorption of Mg and Ca ions in roots is significantly negatively regulated by soilβ-glucosidase ac

Biomolecular self-assembly based on peptides and proteins is a general phenomenon encountered in natural and synthetic ***–liquid phase separation(LLPS)is intimately involved in biomolecular self-assembly,yet the key factors at a molecular scale activating or modulating such a process remain largely ***,we discovered in our experiments that multistep desolvation is fundamental to the formation and evolution of peptide-rich droplets:The first step was partial desolvation of peptides to form peptide clusters,and the second step was selective desolvation of hydrophobic groups within clusters to trigger LLPS and the formation of peptiderich droplets,followed by complete desolvation of droplets,initiating the nucleation of peptide *** of the degree of desolvation at different stages was an effective strategy to control the self-assembly pathways and *** study sheds light on the molecular origin of LLPS-mediated self-assembly distinct from classical one-step self-assembly and paves the way for the precise control of supramolecular self-assembly.

Recognition and rejection of foreign eggs of different colors in Barn Swallows

Brood parasitic birds lay eggs in the nests of other birds,and the parasitized hosts can reduce the cost of raising unrelated offspring through the recognition of parasitic *** can adopt vision-based cognitive mechanisms to recognize foreign eggs by comparing the colors of foreign and host ***,there is currently no uniform conclusion as to whether this comparison involves the single or multiple threshold decision *** this study,we tested both hypotheses by adding model eggs of different colors to the nests of Barn Swallows(Hirundo rustica)of two geographical populations breeding in Hainan and Heilongjiang Provinces in *** showed that Barn Swallows rejected more white model eggs(moderate mimetic to their own eggs)and blue model eggs(highly non-mimetic eggs with shorter reflectance spectrum)than red model eggs(highly nonmimetic eggs with longer reflectance spectrum).There was no difference in the rejection rate of model eggs between the two populations of Barn Swallows,and clutch size was not a factor affecting egg *** results are consistent with the single rejection threshold *** study provides strong experimental evidence that the color of model eggs can has an important effect on egg recognition in Barn Swallows,opening up new avenues to uncover the evolution of cuckoo egg mimicry and explore the cognitive mechanisms underlying the visual recognition of foreign eggs by hosts.

The engineering of the electronic configurations of active sites,together with the production of more accessible active sites through heterostructure design,has been established as a forceful methodology for boosting water electrolysis ***,a facile approach is developed to fabricate well-dispersed MoO_(2) and WO_(2) nanoparticles with abundant heterointerfaces entrapped in N,P-doped carbon nanofibers(referred to as MoO_(2)/WO_(2)@N,P-CNFs hereafter)as hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)electrocatalysts in alkaline and acidic *** spectroscopic analyses and theoretical findings manifest that the heterointerface formed by the work function modulation of MoO_(2)/WO_(2) triggers the spontaneous electron redistribution from MoO_(2)to WO_(2) and a built-in electric field,which is essential to promote water adsorption,optimize the H-intermediate adsorption energy,result in the enhanced charge transfer efficiency,and ultimately increase the intrinsic HER ***,the intimate confinement of MoO_(2)/WO_(2) heterostructures in the porous carbon substrate can restrain the active sites from unfavorable coarsening and detachment,thus ensuring facilitated HER kinetics and outstanding structural *** a result,MoO_(2)/WO_(2)@N,P-CNFs exhibit superior catalytic HER performance in acidic and basic solutions,requiring 118 and 95 mV overpotentials to achieve 10 mA·cm^(−2),respectively,surpassing a number of reported non-noble metal-based *** work provides guidelines for the rational design and construction of special metallic heterocomponents with optimized interfacial electronic structure for various electrochemical technologies.
