Evaluation of 3D crustal seismic velocity models in southwest China:Model performance,limitation,and prospects

Southwest China is a tectonically and seismically active region,witnessing strong deformation due to the collision between the Indian and Eurasian *** the subsurface velocity structure of this region is thus important in understanding the tectonics and geodynamic processes of continental collision and in mitigating seismic *** studies have provided various 3D seismic velocity models in southwest ***,discrepancies exist among these models,and less effort has been made to quantify the reliability and accuracy of these existing velocity *** this study,we use regional 3D waveform simulation to evaluate the performance of various regional crustal 3D velocity models in reproducing observed *** particularly focus on two recent earthquake sequence in the region,the 2021 Yunnan Yangbi MS_(6.4) earthquake sequence and the 2022 Sichuan Luding MS_(6.8) earthquake *** tested 3D velocity models include the Southwest China Community Velocity model V1.0,the Unified Seismic Tomography Models for Continental China Lithosphere V2.0,the adjoint full waveform tomography model of the crustal and upper mantle beneath Eastern Tibetan Plateau,and the shallow seismic structure model beneath continental *** results show that the tested 3D velocity models generally capture well long-period(full-waveform tomography model shows a slighter better performance than the other models,especially for the body-waves,highlighting the advantages

The research and application of responsive materials have long been hampered by their complicated designs and tedious construction ***,many current responsive materials show retard or weak *** this study,responsive hybrid poly(vinyl alcohol)hydrogel membranes with embedded poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-acrylic acid)microgels as valves were constructed by simple mixing and subsequent freezing-thawing *** the structure of the membranes,the matrix poly(vinyl alcohol)chains thread through and entangle with the microgels,and the microgels are firmly constrained within the hybrid hydrogel *** fast and sharp temperature responsiveness of the embedded microgels was largely retained and endowed the hydrogel membrane with excellent temperature and pH ***,the hydrogel membrane showed excellent fatigue resistance in both temperature and pH-responsive flux *** study presented the great potential of these hybrid hydrogel membranes in biomedical applications and provided a new strategy for the future design and construction of responsive biomaterials.

Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-like 2(TREML2)is a newly identified susceptibility gene for Alzheimer's disease(AD).It encodes a microglial inflammation-associated *** date,the potential role of mic roglial TREML2 in neuroinflammation in the context of AD remains *** this study,APP/PS1 mice were used to investigate the dynamic changes of TREML2 levels in brain during AD *** addition,lipopolysaccharide(LPS)stimulation of primary microglia as well as a lentivirus-mediated TREML2 overexpression and knockdown were employed to explore the role of TREML2 in neuroinflammation in the context of *** res ults show that TREML2 levels gradually increased in the brains of AP P/PS1 mice during disease *** stimulation of primary microglia led to the release of inflammato ry cytokines including interleukin-1β,inte rleukin-6,and tumor necrosis factor-a in the culture *** LPS-induced mic roglial release of inflammatory cytokines was enhanced by TREML2 overexpression and was attenuated by TREML2 knoc *** increased the levels of mic roglial M1-type polarization marker inducible nitric oxide *** effect was enhanced by TREML2 overexpression and ameliorated by TREML2 ***,the levels of microglial M2-type polarization markers CD206 and ARG1 in the primary microglia were reduced by TREML2 overexpression and elevated by TREML2 *** stimulation increased the levels of NLRP3 in primary *** LPS-induced increase in NLRP3 was further elevated by TREML2 overexpression and alleviated by TREML2 *** summary,this study provides the first evidence that TREML2 modulates inflammation by regulating microglial polarization and NLRP3 inflammasome *** findings reveal the mechanisms by which TREML2 regulates microglial inflammation and suggest that TREML2 inhibition may represent a novel therapeutic strategy for AD.

Lamotrigine(LTG)is a widely used drug for the treatment of *** clinical evidence suggests that LTG may improve cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer’s ***,the underlying molecular mechanisms remain *** this study,amyloid precursor protein/presenilin 1(APP/PS1)double transgenic mice were used as a model of Alzheimer’s ***-month-old APP/PS1 mice were intragastrically administered 30 mg/kg LTG or vehicle once per day for 3 successive *** cognitive functions of animals were assessed using Morris water *** tau and markers of synapse and glial cells were detected by western blot *** cell damage in the brain was investigated using hematoxylin and eosin *** levels of amyloid-βand the concentrations of interleukin-1β,interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-αin the brain were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent *** expressed genes in the brain after LTG treatment were analyzed by high-throughput RNA sequencing and real-time polymerase chain *** found that LTG substantially improved spatial cognitive deficits of APP/PS1 mice;alleviated damage to synapses and nerve cells in the brain;and reduced amyloid-βlevels,tau protein hyperphosphorylation,and inflammatory ***-throughput RNA sequencing revealed that the beneficial effects of LTG on Alzheimer’s disease-related neuropathologies may have been mediated by the regulation of Ptgds,Cd74,Map3k1,Fosb,and Spp1 expression in the *** findings revealed potential molecular mechanisms by which LTG treatment improved Alzheimer’s ***,these data indicate that LTG may be a promising therapeutic drug for Alzheimer’s disease.

To explore the wide-frequency damping and vibration-attenuation performances in the application of aerospace components,the cylindrical sandwich shell structure with a gradient core of entangled wire mesh was proposed in this ***,the gradient cores of entangled wire mesh in the axial and radial directions were prepared by using an in-house Numerical Control weaving machine,and the metallurgical connection between skin sheets and the gradient core was performed using vacuum ***,to investigate the mechanical properties of cylindrical sandwich shells with axial or radial gradient cores,quasi-static and dynamic mechanical experiments were carried *** primary evaluations of mechanical properties include secant stiffness,natural frequency,Specific Energy Absorption(SEA),vibration acceleration level,and so *** results suggest that the vibration-attenuation performance of the sandwich shell is remarkable when the high-density core layer is at the end of the shell or abuts the inner *** axial gradient material has almost no influence on the vibration frequencies of the shell,whereas the vibration frequencies increase dramatically when the high-density core layer approaches the ***,compared to the conventional sandwich shells,the proposed functional grading cylindrical sandwich shell exhibits more potential in mass reduction,stiffness designing,and energy dissipation.

The classical Ambarzumyan’s theorem states that if the Neumann eigenvalues of the Sturm-Liouville operator-d^(2)/dx^(2)+q with an integrable real-valued potential q on[0,π] are {n^(2):n≥0},then q=0 for almost all x∈[0,π].In this work,the classical Ambarzumyan’s theorem is extended to the Dirac operator on equilateral tree *** prove that if the spectrum of the Dirac operator on graphs coincides with the unperturbed case,then the potential is identically zero.
