Simulation study on cuttings transport of the backreaming operation for long horizontal section wells

The backreaming operation plays a significant role in safe drilling for horizontal wellbores, while it may cause severe stuck pipe accidents. To lower the risk of the stuck pipe in backreaming operations, the mechanism of cuttings transport needs to be carefully investigated. In this research, a transient cuttings transport with multiple flow patterns model is developed to predict the evolution of cuttings transported in the annulus while backreaming. The established model can provide predictions of the distribution of cuttings bed along the wellbore considering the bulldozer effect caused by large-size drilling tools(LSDTs). The sensitivity analyses of the size of LSDTs, and backreaming operating parameters are conducted in Section 4. And a new theory is proposed to explain the mechanism of cuttings transport in the backreaming operation, in which both the bit and LSDTs have the “cleaning effect” and “plugging effect”.The results demonstrate that the cuttings bed in annuli is in a state of dynamic equilibrium, but the overall trend and the distribution pattern are obvious. First, larger diameters and longer drilling tools could lead to a higher risk of the stuck pipe. Second, we find that it is not the case that the higher flow rate is always better for hole cleaning, so three flow-rate intervals are discussed separately under the given conditions. When the “dangerous flow rate”(35 L/s in Case 4),the higher the flow rate, the better the cleaning effect of cuttings beds. Calcium fluoride(CaF_(2))is an ideal adsorbent for the dehydration of gaseous hydrogen fluoride(HF)containing water *** this work,a novel CaF_(2)absorbent,spherical CaF_(2)nanoaggregates(NAs)with a closely packed structure,was proposed and efficiently fabricated by spray drying *** the building blocks of CaF_(2)NAs,the CaF_(2)nanoparticles(NPs)were prepared by the addition of excess calcium ions(Ca^(2+))or fluorine ions(F−)in the *** results indicated that the CaF_(2)NPs synthesized by excess Ca^(2+)and the corresponding NAs exhibited much better water vapor adsorption properties than their counterparts by excess F−,owing to higher zeta *** importantly,whether excess Ca^(2+)or F^(−),CaF_(2)NAs had further enhanced water vapor adsorption capacity compared to primary CaF_(2)NPs,possibly owing to their unique nano-micro secondary structures and higher surface *** work has great potential in the development of high-performance absorbents for separating moisture from corrosive gas HF.

Hydrogen acquisition from solar energy is an effective way to address energy crisis,which makes the development of efficient photocatalysts become the main direction of scientific ***,cobalt phthalocyanine/oxygen-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)(CoPc/OCN) S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst was designed by coupling multi-step calcination with solvothermal method for enhanced photothermal-assisted photocatalytic H_(2) *** multistep calcined g-C_(3)N_(4) is easier for O-doping formation,and the ethanol solvothermal strategy is utilized to enhance the dispersion of CoPc on OCN nano sheet surface and forms sufficient S-scheme heterojunction through *** addition,the active sites and excellent photothermal properties of CoPc itself further improve the integrated photocatalytic activity of CoPc/OCN S-scheme *** optimal photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of CoPc/OCN S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst reached 9.56 mmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1),which is 2.69 and 1.23 times higher than that of CN and OCN,*** work provides a valuable design idea and scheme for enhancing the multi-factor co-assisted photocatalytic H_(2) evolution performance.

Feasibility Study on Recovering Human-Occupied Vehicle with An Offshore Crane

Launching and recovering human-occupied vehicles(HOVs)has always been a challenging *** current recovery process requires staff to manually complete the tethering task,which is inefficient and endangers the lives of *** paper suggests moving the recovery position from the surface to underwater at approximately half the wavelength of the water depth(30−50 m underwater),where the HOV experiences less environmental *** ROV equipped with a ultra-short baseline beacon(USBL)and a manipulator was used to complete the tethering ***,a shackle customized to the shape of the manipulator’s gripper is fitted to the end of the cable to simplify the tethering *** investigate the dynamic response of recovering the HOV using this suggested method,a comprehensive numerical model is developed in this *** effects of wind,surface waves,ocean currents,and nonlinear interaction between the installation vessel and the HOV are quantitatively *** results show that the proposed recovery method can reduce the motion amplitude of the HOV and that the wave has the greatest influence on the dynamic response of the HOV during the recovery *** model provides better insight into the proposed HOV recovery method and confirms the effectiveness of the heave compensation *** proposed approach aims to enhance safety and operational efficiency by reducing direct human involvement in the recovery process and mitigating potential *** finding holds particular significance,especially in environmentally sensitive areas,where reducing the impact on the surrounding ecosystem is crucial.

Co-occurrence of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances, heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their composite impacts on microbial consortium in soil: A field study

This is the first study to report the co-occurrence of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances（PFASs）, heavy metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons（PAHs） and their impacts on the native microbial consortium in soil due to the long-term exposure. The PFASs, heavy metals, and PAHs were detected in soil samples collected at 2–6 m below the ground surface at different sampling locations in a steel-making factory. The total concentrations of PFASs varied from 6.55 to 19.79 ng g-1, with perfluorooctane sulfonate（PFOS）, perfluorobutane sulfonate, and 6:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate（alternative of PFOS） being the predominant PFASs. The concentrations of arsenic, cadmium, and lead were detected in the ranges of 4.40–1 270.00,0.01–8.67, and 18.00–647.00 mg kg-1, respectively, and the concentration of total PAHs was detected in the range of 1.02–131.60 mg kg-1. The long-term exposure to mixed contaminants of PFASs, heavy metals, and PAHs led to lower richness and diversity of microbial communities in soil. The soil bacterial communities were mainly composed of Pseudomonas, norank＿p＿GAL15, Leptothrix, norank＿o＿Rokubacteriales, and Acinetobacter. Correlations between soil environmental factors and microbial communities indicated that cation exchange capacity and total phosphorus were two key factors in shaping the composition of native microbial communities. Furthermore, Arthrobacter, Leptothrix, and Sphingobium were found to be significantly positively correlated with PFAS concentrations, indicating that these genera could tolerate the stress exerted by PFASs, along with the stress imposed due to the presence of heavy metals or/and PAHs.
