Clopidogrel improves aspirin response after off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery

We sought to assess the incidence of aspirin resistance after off-pump coronary artery bypass （OPCAB） surgery, and investigate whether clopidogrel can improve aspirin response and be safely applied early after OPCAB surgery. Sixty patients who underwent standard OPCAB surgery were randomized into two groups. One group （30 patients） received mono-antiplatelet treatment （MAPT） with aspirin 100 mg daily and the other group received dual anfiplatelet treatment （DAPT） with aspirin 100 mg daily plus clopidogrel 75 mg daily. Platelet aggregations in response to arachi- donic acid （PLAA） and adenosine diphosphate （ADP）（PLADP） were measured preoperatively and on days 1 to 6, 8 and 10 after the antiplatelet agents were administered. A PLAA level above 20% was defined as aspirin resistance. Postoperative bleeding and other perioperative variables were also recorded. There were no significant differences between the two groups in baseline characteristics, average number of distal anastomosis, operation time, postoperative bleeding, ventilation time and postoperative hospital stay. However, the incidence of aspirin resistance was significantly lower in the DAPT group than that in the MAPT group on the first and second day after antiplatelet agents were given （62.1% vs, 32.1%, 34.5% vs. 10.7%, respectively, both P 〈 0.05）. There was no significant difference in postoperative complication between the two groups. DAPT with aspirin and clopidogrel can be safely applied to OPCAB patients early after the procedure. Moreover, clopidogrel reduces the incidence of OPCAB-related aspirin resistance.

Germplasm effect reflects the quantitative relation between production ability of germplasm elements and yield （quality） of a certain crop, which can be shown by mathematic function, namely, germplasm effect function. Germplasm effect of a crop variety is an aggregation of many effective factors, and is restrained by different effective factors; constant increase of any one effect of germplasm elements would lead to law of effect decline, therefore, possible modes of transgenic crops effect function were deduced according to the law of effect decline. The possible modes of single transgenic germplasm effect function and multi-transgenic germplasm effect regression equation were discussed, and the characteristics of germplasm effect regression equation were analyzed in this paper.

In social mammals, kinship is an important factor that often affects the interactions among individuals within groups. In primates that live in a multilevel society, kinship may affect affiliative patterns be- tween individuals at different scales within the larger group. For this study, we use field observations and molecular methods to reveal the profiles of how kinship affects affiliative behaviors between indi- viduals in a breeding band of wild golden snub-nosed monkeys （Rhinopithecus roxellana）. We use a novel nonparametric test, the partition Mantel test, to measure independently the correlation between kinship and each of three affiliative behaviors. Our results show that more closely related females are more likely to groom each other. Average relatedness between adult females within the same onemale unit （OMU） is higher than that between adult females from different OMUs. We suggest that closely related females may reside in the same OMU in order to attain inclusive fitness benefits, and that kinship plays an important role in maintaining the social structure of this species.

The process of dislocation multiplication has been described hv chaos theory, trying to reveal the connection between the microstructures on the mesoscopic scale and the mechanical properties of material on the macroscopic scale. The relationship between the dislocation velocity exponent and the maximum of strain rate is given. The results obtained from logistic equation with exponent and the dislocation multiplication dynamic equation are compared. A scale law in one-dimension-map model with exponent is shown when the exponents of equations are changed.

Nanofiltration Technology for Toxic or Harmful Ions Removal from Groundwater: Characteristics and Economic Analysis

Nanofiltration (NF) membrane can efficiently remove the ions from groundwater, especially for high valence ions. Results show that the removal rate of fluoride was approximately 67% by the NF system, while for arsenic the removal rate was more than 93%. NF presented the well selective removal for fluoride. The quality of product water meets the national drinking water standards. Therefore, the application of nanofiltration technology can significantly improve the drinking water environment of rural areas, avoiding the secondary pollution caused by other chemical treatment processes. The water product cost of NF technology is about RMB 0.026 yuan per liter, application of the process of 2:1 NF membranes arrangement for toxic or harmful ions removal from groundwater, including investment cost and operating cost. Therefore, NF technology for harmful ions removal is more economical than the price of the market bottled water and suitable for application in rural areas of China.

1. Adjustments were made in the U.S. diplomatic strategy and deployment. The U.S. adjusted its diplomacy and published President＇s State of Union Message as well as National Security Strategy Report. According to Rice＇s strategy for ＂transformation diplomacy＂ the U.S. would pay more attention to the emerging and transitional countries, entrust the U.S. diplomacy the new task and reorganize and strengthen the U.S. foreign aid institutions. Bush said in his State of Union Message that China and India had become new competitors in world economy and that the U.S. would continue to fight against terrorism and promote democracy in the Middle East. In its Four- year Appraisal Report on National Defense, the U. S. outlined the focus of defense in its future military strategy, its tactics and the direction of its military deployment, which was shifted to the Asia-Pacific region. In March this year, Bush released his second National Security Strategy Report since he assumed the office, with emphasis on ＂the advance of freedom＂ as the priority objective, expanding cooperation with big powers, stressing the threat of Iran nuclear issue, reiterating the preemptive principle and tightening the control of the border area between Europe and Asia.

Pore structure of hard carbon has a fundamental influence on the electrochemical properties in sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).Ultra-micropores(1 nm)inside carbon into ultra-micropores(<0.5 nm).Consequently,the designed carbon anode displays an enhanced capacity of 346 mAh g^(−1) at 30 mA g^(−1) with a high ICE value of~80.6%and most of the capacity(~90%)is below 1 ***,the high-loading electrode(~19 mg cm^(−2))exhibits a good temperature endurance with a high areal capacity of 6.14 mAh cm^(−2) at 25℃ and 5.32 mAh cm^(−2) at −20℃.Based on the in situ X-ray diffraction and ex situ solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance results,the designed ultra-micropores provide the extra Na+storage sites,which mainly contributes to the enhanced *** proposed strategy shows a good potential for the development of high-performance SIBs.

Diagnosis and surgical treatment of intraveneous leiomyomatosis extending into the heart:two cases report and review of the literature

Objective： To investigate the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and surgical treatment of intravenous leiomyomatosis （IVL）, and outline the differences between Chinese and overseas cases. Methods： Clinical data of two IVL cases, treated in our hospital, were analyzed retrospectively and the related literature was also reviewed. The data of preoperative diagnostic rate, surgical procedures, and postoperative recurrence between patients in China and other countries were compared. Results： The first stage operation was performed successfully in 2 patients. However, they refused subsequent therapies, including a second stage operation to excise the remnants Of the tumor, uterus, bilateral oviducts and ovaries, and anti-estrogen therapy. Both suffered from IVL recurrence, one at 6-month and the other at 9-month, and died at 16-month and 12-month respectively after the first stage surgery. Worldwide reports of 110 IVL cases were reviewed, which included 28 cases in China and 82 cases in other countries. In the majority of the Chinese patients, tumors only extended into the fight atrium rather than the right ventricle （RA 22 cases vs RV 4 cases）. However, among the overseas patients, the rate of extension into the right atrium was similar to that of extension into the right ventricle （RA 41 cases vs RV 38 cases）. The rate of hysterectomies was not significantly different between Chinese and overseas patients （ 67.86% vs 55.9%, P=0.278）. The rate of correct preoperative diagnosis in the Chinese patients was significantly lower than that in the overseas patients （32.14% vs 80%, P=0.000002.）, as well asthe rate of complete excision of the tumor （22.7@0 vs 75.5%, P=0.000001）. The proportion of patients who undergoing a single-stage or a two-stage operation was similar in Chinese and overseas patients. The recurrence rate was significantly higher in the Chinese patients than in the overseas patients （36.8% vs 9.1%, P=0.0055）, and the patients with tumor recurrence were partia
