Impact of nutrient losses from agricultural lands on nutrient stocks in Dianshan Lake in Shanghai, China

Abstract： The water quality of Dianshan Lake in Shanghai Municipality, China, is impacted by nutrient losses from agricultural lands around the lake. In this study, nine types of agricultural land use were monitored in 2010 and 2011, and a correlation analysis between nutrient losses from agricultural non-point sources （NPS） and nutrient stocks in the lake was conducted over monthly and seasonal time periods. The results indicate that the monthly average concentration of total nitrogen （TN） ranged from 1.41 to 7.34 mg/L in 2010 and from 1.52 to 5.90 mg/L in 2011, while the monthly average concentration of total phosphorous （TP） ranged from 0.11 to 0.26 mg/L in 2010 and from 0.13 to 0.30 mg/L in 2011. The annual loss of TN from agricultural NPS was 195.55 tons in 2010 and 208.40 tons in 2011. The cultivation of water oat made the largest contribution to the loss of TN. The annual loss of TP was 44.58 tons in 2010 and 48.12 tons in 2011, and multi-vegetable cultivation made the largest contribution to the loss of TP. The results of correlation analysis show that the monthly stocks of TN and TP in the lake have a positive correlation with the monthly losses of TN and TP from agricultural NPS. According to the seasonal data, the stocks of TN and TP in the lake both have a much stronger correlation with the losses of TN and TP from agricultural NPS in summer than in other seasons. Agricultural NPS pollution control should be the main focus for the water resource conservation in this area.

The transformation of nor-seco-cucurbit[10]uril to cucurbit[5]uril and cucurbit[8]uril controlled by its own concentration

Nor-seco-cucurbit[10]uril(ns-CB[10]) is a kinetic product with unique structure. The single bridged methylene in its structure makes the molecular cavity of ns-CB[10] more deformable when compared to ordinary cucurbit[n]uril, reducing its structural stability. Repeated experiments showed that ns-CB[10] gradually cracks in an acidic solution and changes the specificity of cucurbit[5]uril(CB[5]) and cucurbit[8]uril(CB[8]) under more robust acidic solutions and when heated. A series of experiments were designed to study the transformation behavior of ns-CB[10]. It was found that the concentration of ns-CB[10] was correlated with the content distribution of CB[5] and CB[8]. This study explores the influencing factors and mechanisms of the transformation of ns-CB[10] to CB[5] and CB[8]. The results are of great significance for the application of ns-CB[10], understanding the formation mechanism of cucurbit[n]urils. Furthermore,it provides a new pathway for synthesizing new cucurbit[n]urils.

Spatio-temporal evolution of complex agricultural land use and its drivers in a super-large irrigation district (Hetao) of the upper Yellow River Basin (2000–2021)

Accurate spatio-temporal land cover information in agricultural irrigation districts is crucial for effective agricultural management and crop production. Therefore, a spectralphenological-based land cover classification(SPLC) method combined with a fusion model(flexible spatiotemporal data fusion, FSDAF)(abbreviated as SPLC-F) was proposed to map multi-year land cover and crop type(LC-CT) distribution in agricultural irrigated areas with complex landscapes and cropping system, using time series optical images(Landsat and MODIS). The SPLC-F method was well validated and applied in a super-large irrigated area(Hetao) of the upper Yellow River Basin(YRB). Results showed that the SPLC-F method had a satisfactory performance in producing long-term LC-CT maps in Hetao, without the requirement of field sampling. Then, the spatio-temporal variation and the driving factors of the cropping systems were further analyzed with the aid of detailed household surveys and statistics. We clarified that irrigation and salinity conditions were the main factors that had impacts on crop spatial distribution in the upper YRB. Investment costs, market demand, and crop price are the main driving factors in determining the temporal variations in cropping distribution. Overall, this study provided essential multi-year LC-CT maps for sustainable management of agriculture, eco-environments, and food security in the upper YRB.

All-season thermal management with zero energy consumption and emissions is more crucial to global decarbonization over traditional energy-intensive cooling/heating ***,the static single thermal management for cooling or heating fails to self-regulate the temperature in dynamic seasonal temperature ***,inspired by the dual-temperature regulation function of the fur color changes on the backs and abdomens of penguins,a smart thermal management composite hydrogel(PNA@H-PM Gel) system was subtly created though an "on-demand" dual-layer structure design *** PNA@H-PM Gel system features synchronous solar and thermal radiation modulation as well as tunable phase transition temperatures to meet the variable seasonal thermal requirements and energy-saving demands via self-adaptive radiative cooling and solar heating ***,this system demonstrates superb modulations of both the solar reflectance(ΔR=0.74) and thermal emissivity(ΔE=0.52) in response to ambient temperature changes,highlighting efficient temperature regulation with average radiative cooling and solar heating effects of 9.6℃ in summer and 6.1℃ in winter,***,compared to standard building baselines,the PNA@H-PM Gel presents a more substantial energy-saving cooling/heating potentials for energy-efficient buildings across various regions and *** novel solution,inspired by penguins in the real world,will offer a fresh approach for producing intelligent,energy-saving thermal management materials,and serve for temperature regulation under dynamic climate conditions and even throughout all seasons.

2D copper-iron bimetallic metal-organic frameworks for reduction of nitrate with boosted efficiency and ammonia selectivity

Electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate to ammonia has been considered a promising and sustainable pathway for pollutant treatment and ammonia has significant potential as a clean ***,the method has received much *** this work,Cu/Fe 2D bimetallic metal-organic frameworks were synthesized by a facile method applied as cathode materials without high-temperature *** centers(Cu,Fe)with enhanced intrinsic activity demonstrated higher removal ***,the 2D nanosheet reduced themass transfer barrier between the catalyst and nitrate and increased the reaction ***,the catalysts with a 2D structure showed much better removal efficiency than other structures(3D MOFs and BulkMOFs).Under optimal conditions,Cu/Fe-2D MOF exhibited high nitrate removal efficiency(87.8%)and ammonium selectivity(89.3%)*** ammonium yielded up to significantly 907.2μg/(hr·mg_(cat))(7793.8μg/(hr·mg_(metal)))with Faradaic efficiency of 62.8%at an initial 100 mg N/*** catalyst was proved to have good stability and was recycled 15 times with excellent *** simulations confirm the reduced Gibbs free energy of Cu/Fe-2D *** study demonstrates the promising application of Cu/Fe-2D MOF in nitrate reduction to ammonia and provides new insights for the design of efficient electrode materials.

Synthesis of intermetallic PtCo fuel cell catalysts from bimetallic core@shell structured nanoparticles

The high activity and stability of intermetallic PtCo nanocatalysts toward oxygen reduction reaction make them a top candidate as low-Pt cathode catalysts in proton exchange membrane fuel cells（PEMFCs）.However,forming intermetallic structures typically requires high-temperature annealing,posing a challenge for achieving well-size control and highly ordered *** we report the design and synthesis of bimetallic co re@shell structured precursors for affording high-performance intermetallic PtCo *** fabrication of the core@shell precursor involves using a molecular ligand containing both sulfur and oxygen donors to selectively bind with Pt colloidal nanoparticles as the core and chelate Co ions as the *** high-temperature annealing,the ligand transforms into carbon coatings around alloy nanoparticles,preventing particle sintering;meanwhile,Co ions in the shell can easily diffuse into the Pt core,which helps to increase the thermodynamic driving force for forming intermetallic *** benefits enable us to obtain the catalyst with finely dispersed nanoparticles（～3.5 nm）and a high ordering degree of 72%.With 0.1 mgPt/cm2cathode loading,the catalyst delivers superior performance and durability in PEMFCs,showing an initial mass activity of 0.56 A/mgPt,an initial power density of 1.05 W/cm2at 0.67 V（H2-air）,and a voltage loss of 26 mV at 0.8 A/cm2after the accelerated durability test.

正交保持投影(ONPP)是经典的图嵌入降维技术,已经成功地应用到人脸识别中,其保持了高维数据的局部性和整体几何结构。监督的ONPP通过建立同类邻接图来最小化同类局部重构误差,寻找最优的低维嵌入,但是其只使用了类内信息,这会导致异类数据点间的结构不够明显。因此,提出了基于双邻接图的正交近邻保持投影(DAGONPP)算法。通过建立同类邻接图与异类邻接图,在数据嵌入低维空间后同类近邻重构误差尽量小,异类近邻重构误差更加明显。在ORL,Yale,YaleB和PIE人脸库上的实验结果表明,与其他经典算法相比,所提方法有效提高了分类能力。
