Neurodegenerative diseases(NDs)are a group of debilitating neurological disorders that primarily affect elderly populations and include Alzheimer's disease(AD),Parkinson's disease(PD),Huntington's disease(HD),and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS).Currently,there are no therapies available that can delay,stop,or reverse the pathological progression of NDs in clinical *** the population ages,NDs are imposing a huge burden on public health systems and affected *** models are important tools for preclinical investigations to understand disease pathogenesis and test potential *** numerous rodent models of NDs have been developed to enhance our understanding of disease mechanisms,the limited success of translating findings from animal models to clinical practice suggests that there is still a need to bridge this translation *** World nonhuman primates(NHPs),such as rhesus,cynomolgus,and vervet monkeys,are phylogenetically,physiologically,biochemically,and behaviorally most relevant to *** is particularly evident in the similarity of the structure and function of their central nervous systems,rendering such species uniquely valuable for neuroscience ***,the development of several genetically modified NHP models of NDs has successfully recapitulated key pathologies and revealed novel *** review focuses on the efficacy of NHPs in modeling NDs and the novel pathological insights gained,as well as the challenges associated with the generation of such models and the complexities involved in their subsequent analysis.

Huntington'sdisease(HD)isahereditary neurodegenerative disorder for which there is currently no ***,the development of appropriate disease models is critical to thoroughly investigate disease *** genetic basis of HD involves the abnormal expansion of CAG repeats in the huntingtin(HTT)gene,leading to the expansion of a polyglutamine repeat in the HTT *** HTT carrying the expanded polyglutamine repeat undergoes misfolding and forms aggregates in the brain,which precipitate selective neuronal loss in specific brain *** models play an important role in elucidating the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders such as HD and in identifying potential therapeutic *** to the marked species differences between rodents and larger animals,substantial efforts have been directed toward establishing large animal models for HD *** models are pivotal for advancing the discovery of novel therapeutic targets,enhancing effective drug delivery methods,and improving treatment *** have explored the advantages of utilizing large animal models,particularly pigs,in previous *** then,however,significant progress has been made in developing more sophisticated animal models that faithfully replicate the typical pathology of *** the current review,we provide a comprehensive overview of large animal models of HD,incorporating recent findings regarding the establishment of HD knock-in(KI)pigs and their genetic *** also explore the utilization of large animal models in HD research,with a focus on sheep,non-human primates(NHPs),and *** objective is to provide valuable insights into the application of these large animal models for the investigation and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.

V0405 Dra:A New Deep and Low Mass Ratio Contact Binary with Extremely Fast Decrease in the Orbital Period

V0405 Dra is a W UMa-type binary *** on the TESS data,we have conducted an orbital period study and performed a light curve analysis for the *** orbital period study reveals that the O-C curve for V0405 Dra exhibits secular decrease at an extremely high rate of d P/dt=-2.71×10^(-6)day year^(-1),along with periodic variations characterized by an amplitude of A_(3)=0.0032 day and a period of P_(3)=1.413 *** orbital periodic change is possibly due to the light-travel time effect resulting from an additional third body in the system,for which we estimate a minimum mass of M_(3)=0.77M_(⊙).By employing the 2013 version of the Wilson-Devinney(W-D)method to synthesize a light curve,we derived photometric solutions indicating that V0405 Dra is a new deep(f=68.7%)and low-mass ratio(q=0.175)contact *** fast decrease in its orbital period is likely caused by mass transfer from the more massive primary star to the less massive secondary star,or due to angular momentum *** further mass transfer and loss of angular momentum,the binary will gradually evolve into a tighter contact configuration,eventually leading to a merger into a single star,following the evolutionary paths suggested for such deep and low mass ratio contact binaries.

Photoelectromagnetic multimode triggered phase change materials for thermotherapy

Neither pristine phase change materials(PCMs)nor metal-organic frame-works(MOFs)can be driven by optical/electrical/magnetic triggers for multiple energy conversion and thermal storage,which cannot satisfy the requirements of multi-scenario ***,a three-dimensional interconnected forest-type array carbon network anchored by Co nanoparticles serving as optical/electrical/magnetic multimode triggers was developed through in situ growth of two-dimensional MOF nanosheet arrays on pre-carbonized melamine foam and subsequent high-temperature *** the encapsulation of polyethylene glycol,the resulting composite PCMs simultaneously integrate fascinating photothermal,electrothermal,magnetothermal conversion and stor-age for personal *** from the synergistic enhancement of forest-type array carbon heterostructure and Co nanoparticles,composite PCMs exhibit high thermal/electrical conduction and strong full-spectrum absorption ***,low-energy photoelectric triggers are sufficient to drive high-efficiency photothermal/electrothermal conversion and storage of compos-ite PCMs(93.1%,100 mW/cm^(2);92.9%,2.5 V).Additionally,composite PCMs also exhibit excellent encapsulation stability without liquid phase leakage,long-term thermal reliability and multiple energy conversion and storage stability after multiple *** proposed photoelectromagnetic multimode triggers are aimed to inspire innovation and accelerate major breakthroughs in advanced responsive composite PCMs toward multiple energy utilization and personal thermotherapy.
