Impact of diabetes on recovery after radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer:A retrospective cohort study

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer remains a significant global health *** gastrectomy is the primary curative *** mellitus is a common comorbidity in patients undergoing surgery for gastric cancer,including radical *** studies have suggested that diabetes can negatively affect postoperative outcomes,such as wound healing,infection rates,and overall ***,the specific impact of diabetes on recovery after radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer remains poorly *** the influence of diabetes on postope-rative recovery,including hospital stay duration,complications,and readmission rates,in patients undergoing gastrectomy for gastric *** these effects could help optimize perioperative management and improve patient *** cancer and associated postoperative *** This retrospective cohort study was performed at the Endocrinology Department of Xuanwu Hospital,Capital Medical University,Beijing,*** examined patients who underwent radical gastrectomy for cancer between January 2010 and December *** patients were divided into the diabetes and non-diabetes *** main outcomes included length of hospital stay,postoperative com-plications,and 30-day readmission *** outcomes included quality of life *** score matching was used to adjust for potential con-founding *** A total of 1210 patients were included in the study,with 302 diabetic patients and 908 non-diabetic *** propensity score matching,280 patients were included in each *** patients demonstrated significantly longer hospital stays(mean difference 2.3 days,95%CI:1.7-2.9,P<0.001)and higher rates of postoperative complications(OR 1.68,95%CI:1.32-2.14,P<0.001).The 30-day readmission rate was also higher in the diabetic group as compared to the non-diabetic group(12.5%vs 7.8%,P=0.02).CONCLUSION Patients with diabetes mellitus undergoing radical gastre

The feasibility of manufacturing Ti-6Al-4V samples through a combination of laser-aided additive manufacturing with powder(LAAM_(p))and wire(LAAM_(w))was explored.A process study was first conducted to successfully circumvent defects in Ti-6Al-4V deposits for LAAM_(p) and LAAM_(w),*** the optimized process parameters,robust interfaces were achieved between powder/wire deposits and the forged substrate,as well as between powder and wire *** characterization results revealed the epitaxial prior β grains in the deposited Ti-6Al-4V,wherein the powder deposit was dominated by a finerα′microstructure and the wire deposit was characterized by lamellar α *** mechanisms of microstructure formation and correlation with mechanical behavior were analyzed and *** mechanical properties of the interfacial samples can meet the requirements of the relevant Aerospace Material Specifications(AMS 6932)even without post heat *** fracture occurred within the interfacial area,further suggesting the robust *** findings of this study highlighted the feasibility of combining LAAM_(p) and LAAM_(w) in the direct manufacturing of Ti-6Al-4V parts in accordance with the required dimensional resolution and deposition rate,together with sound strength and ductility balance in the as-built condition.

We assessed the global incidence,mortality,and disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)associated with various liver diseases,including alcohol-related liver disease(ALD),hepatitis B/C virus infections(HBV or HCV),liver cancer,metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD),and other chronic liver diseases,from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease ***,we analyzed the global trends in hepatology research and drug *** 2000 to 2019,prevalence rates increased for ALD,MASLD and other liver diseases,while they decreased for HBV,HCV,and liver *** with a high socio-demographic index(SDI)exhibited the lowest mortality rates and *** burden of liver diseases varied due to factors like sex and *** nine representative countries,MASLD,along with hepatobiliary cancer,showed highest increase in funding in hepatology ***,the major research categories in hepatology papers from 2000 to 2019 were cancer,pathobiology,and *** United States(U.S.)was at the forefront of hepatology research,with China gradually increasing its influence over *** worldwide are increasingly focusing on studying the communication between the liver and other organs,while underestimating the research on ***,HCV,and MASLD were the primary diseases targeted for therapeutic development in clinical ***,the proportion of new drugs approved for the treatment of liver diseases was relatively low among all newly approved drugs in the U.S.,China,Japan,and the European ***,there were no approved drug for the treatment of ALD in the world.

＜正＞It is well known that initial consolidation requires de novo gene transcription and protein synthesis in order for memory to become *** consolidated memory again becomes labile and temporarily sensitive to disruption when retrieved,requiring a reconsolidation process to become *** it is well established that glucocorticoid receptor（GR） in the basolateral nucleus of amygdala（BLA） is required for consolidation of fear memory,little is known about its role in reconsolidation of fear *** the present study,we first examined the effect of GR blockade on postconditioning consolidation of auditory fear memory（AFM）.Intra-BLA infusion of the GR antagonist RU486 0 h postconditioning impaired long-term AFM,leaving short-term AFM ***486 had no effect if infusion was performed 6 h *** then investigated the effect of the RU486 treatment on post-retrieval reconsolidation of AFM. Severe amnesia took place when RU486 was infused into the BLA 0 h post-retrieval（reactivation） of AFM,regardless of whether the retrieval was performed 1 day or 10 days ***486 produced no amnesia if the memory retrieval was omitted,or if the drug was administered 6 h *** with RU486 0 h post-retrieval produced no deficit in post-retrieval short-term memory（PR-STM）,but impaired post-retrieval long-term memory（PR-LTM）.and the amnesia exhibited no spontaneous recovery 6 days after *** present results provide strong evidence that GR in the BLA is required for reconsolidation as well as consolidation of auditory fear memory.

The emergence of drug resistance to virus(i.e.,acyclovir(ACV)to herpesviruses)has been termed one of the common clinical issues,emphasizing the discovery of new antiviral *** address it,a genome-wide clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)screening was performed in mouse haploid embryonic stem cells infected with pseudorabies virus(PRV),anα-herpesvirus causing human and pig *** results demonstrated that type 2 voltage-gated chloride channels(CLC-2)encoded by one of the identified genes,CLCN2,is a potential drug target for anti-herpesvirus ***-2 inhibitors,omeprazole(OME)and 4,4'-diisothiocyanostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid(DIDS),can efficiently inhibit infection of multiple herpesviruses in cellulo(i.e.,PRV,HSV and EBV),and effectively treat murine herpes simplex encephalitis(HSE).Additionally,DIDS was found to inhibit HSV-1 replication by blocking the PI3K/Akt *** importantly,both DIDS and OME were able to inhibit ACV-resistant HSV-1 strain *** study's findings suggest that targeting host-cell factors such as CLC-2 may be a promising approach to tackling herpesvirus drug *** discovery of CLC-2 as a potential drug target for anti-herpesvirus therapy provides a new direction for the development of novel antiviral agents.

Based on the LINAC of BEPCII, a high-polarized, high bightness, energy-tunable, monoenergetic laser compton backscattering (LCS)gamma-ray source is under construction at IHEP. The gamma-ray energy range is from 1 MeV to 111 MeV. It is a powerful and hopeful researchplatform to reveal the underlying physics of the nuclear, the basic particles and the vacuum or to check the exist basic physical models, quantumelectrodynamic (QED) theories. In the platform, a 1.064 mm Nd:YAG laser system and a 10.6 mm CO_(2) laser system are employed. All the triggersignals to the laser system and the electron control system are from the only reference clock at the very beginning of the LINAC to make sure thetemporal synchronization. Two optical transition radiation (OTR) targets and two charged-couple devices (CCD) are used to monitor and to alignthe electron beam and the laser beam. With the LCS gamma-ray source, it is proposed to experimentally check the gamma-ray calibrations, thephoton-nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics and some basic QED phenomena.
