Captioning Videos Using Large-Scale Image Corpus

Video captioning is the task of assigning complex high-level semantic descriptions （e.g., sentences or paragraphs） to video data. Different from previous video analysis techniques such as video annotation, video event detection and action recognition, video captioning is much closer to human cognition with smaller semantic gap. However, the scarcity of captioned video data severely limits the development of video captioning. In this paper, we propose a novel video captioning approach to describe videos by leveraging freely-available image corpus with abundant literal knowledge. There are two key aspects of our approach： 1） effective integration strategy bridging videos and images, and 2） high efficiency in handling ever-increasing training data. To achieve these goals, we adopt sophisticated visual hashing techniques to efficiently index and search large-scale images for relevant captions, which is of high extensibility to evolving data and the corresponding semantics. Extensive experimental results on various real-world visual datasets show the effectiveness of our approach with different hashing techniques, e.g., LSH （locality-sensitive hashing）, PCA-ITQ （principle component analysis iterative quantization） and supervised discrete hashing, as compared with the state-of-the-art methods. It is worth noting that the empirical computational cost of our approach is much lower than that of an existing method, i.e., it takes 1/256 of the memory requirement and 1/64 of the time cost of the method of Devlin et al.

Interplay between Hydrogen Bond Network and Entangled Network in Polymers during Stretching Based on Molecular Simulations

Mechanical properties of polymers can be regulated by changing the numbers of hydrogen bonds and entanglement ***,the interplay between hydrogen bond network and entangled network during stretching has not been fully *** performed molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the changes of hydrogen bonds and entanglements during *** stretching causes the orientation of local segments,leading to the entanglement sliding and disentanglements at different strain ***,the number of entanglement points keeps constant at first and then decreases with increasing ***,the orientation of local segments can cause the change of chain conformation,which leads to the breakage of hydrogen ***,the number of hydrogen bonds decreases with the increase of *** results also demonstrated that the number of hydrogen bonds decreases faster during stretching in systems containing more *** systems with different hydrogen bond site contents,the initial number of entanglement nodes and its decline range during stretching increase firstly and then decrease with the increase of hydrogen bond site content.

Despite the continuous developments and advancements in the treatment of gastric cancer(GC),which is one of the most prevalent types of cancer in China,the overall survival is still poor for most patients with advanced *** recent years,with the progress in tumor immunology research,attention has shifted toward immunotherapy as a therapeutic approach for *** cell death protein 1(PD-1)inhibitors,as novel immunosuppressive medications,have been widely utilized in the treatment of ***,many patients are still resistant to PD-1 inhibitors and experience recurrence in the advanced stages of PD-1 *** reduce the occurrence of drug resistance and recurrence in GC patients receiving PD-1 immunotherapy,to maximize the clinical activity of immunosuppressive drugs,and to elicit a lasting immune response,it is essential to research the tumor microenvironment mechanisms leading to PD-1 inhibitor resistance in GC *** article reviews the progress in studying the factors influencing the resistance to PD-1 inhibitors in the GC tumor microenvironment,aiming to provide insights and a basis for reducing resistance to PD-1 inhibitors for GC patients in the future.

De novo synthesis of atropisomeric benzofurans via Cu/SPDO complex catalyzed asymmetric formal [3 + 2] annulation

Herein, the de novo synthesis of atropisomeric benzofurans through the Cu/spirocyclic-pyrrolidine-oxazoline(SPDO) complex catalyze asymmetric formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition between quinones and ynamides is explored, producing a range of structurally diverse axially chiral benzofurans in satisfactory yields with good to excellent enantioselectivities. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations were applied to explain the possible reaction mechanism.

COMPrompter: reconceptualized segment anything model with multiprompt network for camouflaged object detection

We rethink the segment anything model(SAM) and propose a novel multiprompt network called COMPrompter for camouflaged object detection(COD). SAM has zero-shot generalization ability beyond other models and can provide an ideal framework for COD. Our network aims to enhance the single prompt strategy in SAM to a multiprompt strategy. To achieve this, we propose an edge gradient extraction module, which generates a mask containing gradient information regarding the boundaries of camouflaged objects. This gradient mask is then used as a novel boundary prompt, enhancing the segmentation process. Thereafter, we design a box-boundary mutual guidance module, which fosters more precise and comprehensive feature extraction via mutual guidance between a boundary prompt and a box prompt. This collaboration enhances the model's ability to accurately detect camouflaged objects. Moreover, we employ the discrete wavelet transform to extract high-frequency features from image embeddings. The high-frequency features serve as a supplementary component to the multiprompt ***, our COMPrompter guides the network to achieve enhanced segmentation results, thereby advancing the development of SAM in terms of COD. Experimental results across COD benchmarks demonstrate that COMPrompter achieves a cutting-edge performance, surpassing the current leading model by an average positive metric of 2.2% in COD10K. In the specific application of COD, the experimental results in polyp segmentation show that our model is superior to top-tier methods as well. The paper presents experimental investigation results of crack pattern change in cement pastes caused by external sulfate attack(ESA).To visualize the formation and development of cracks in cement pastes under ESA,an X-ray computed tomography(X-ray CT)was used,i e,the tomography system of Zeiss Xradia 510 *** results indicate that X-CT can monitor the development process and distribution characteristics of the internal cracks of cement pastes under ESA with attack *** addition,the C3A content in the cement significantly affects the damage mode of cement paste specimens during sulfate *** damage of ordinary Portland cement(OPC)pastes subjected to sulfate attack with high C3A content are severe,while the damage of sulfate resistant Portland cement(SRPC)pastes is much smaller than that of OPC ***,a quadratic function describes the correlation between the crack volume fraction and development depth for two cement pastes immermed in sulfate solution.

壳聚糖能被过氧化氢氧化降解得到低分子量壳聚糖 ,所得产物分子量分布随平均分子量的下降而逐渐变窄 .其降解速度和产物特性受原料脱乙酰度、反应介质、H2 O2 用量、温度和反应时间的影响 .脱乙酰度越高的壳聚糖 ,降解反应越容易进行 .在酸性介质中的降解 ,其起始速度比在水中的降解要快 ,所得产物的分散度要小 ,到一定程度后受到 H+抑制 .实验结果表明 ,制备分子量 5万以上的壳聚糖产品在 6 0～ 70℃、H2 O2 用量比小于0 .2 5的中性体系中就可以完成 ;而制备分子量在 1.5～ 5万之间的壳聚糖 ,采用反应温度 70℃、H2 O2 用量比为 0 .5～ 1.5、介质为水的条件较适宜 ;盐酸体系有利于制备分子量 70 0 0左右的壳聚糖 ;要得到水溶性产物 ,可以使用 2 %醋酸或水两种介质 .因此 ,通过选择反应条件 ,可制备特定分子量范围的壳聚糖 .
