Octenyl succinic anhydride （OSA） modified early Indica rice starch was prepared in aqueous slurry systems using response surface methodology. The paste properties of the OSA starch were also investigated. Results indicated that the suitable parameters for the preparation of OSA starch from early Indica rice starch were as follows： reaction period 4 h, reaction temperature 33.4℃, pH of reaction system 8.4, concentration of starch slurry 36.8% （in proportion to water, w/w）, amount of OSA 3% （in proportion to starch, w/w）. The degree of substitution was 0.0188 and the reaction efficiency was 81.0%. The results of paste properties showed that with increased OSA modification, the starch derivatives had higher paste clarity, decreased retrogradation and better freeze-thaw stability.

BACKGROUND Joint replacement is a common treatment for older patients with high incidences of hip joint ***,postoperative recovery is slow and complications are common,which reduces surgical ***,patients require long-term,high-quality,and effective nursing interventions to promote *** of care has been used successfully in other diseases;however,little research has been conducted on older patients who have undergone hip *** To explore the clinical effect of continuous nursing on rehabilitation after discharge of older individuals who have undergone joint *** A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 113 elderly *** receiving routine nursing were included in the convention group(n=60),and those receiving continuous nursing,according to various methods,were included in the continuation group(n=53).Harris score,short form 36(SF-36)score,complication rate,and readmission rate were compared between the convention and continuation *** After discharge,Harris and SF-36 scores of the continuation group were higher than those of the convention *** Harris and SF-36 scores of the two groups showed an increasing trend with time,and there was an interaction effect between group and time(Harris score:F_(intergroup effect)=376.500,F_(time effect)=20.090,Finteraction effect=4.824;SF-36 score:F_(intergroup effect)=236.200,Ftime effect=16.710,Finteraction effect=5.584;all P<0.05).Furthermore,the total complication and readmission rates in the continuation group were lower(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Continuous nursing could significantly improve hip function and quality of life in older patients after joint replacement and reduce the incidence of complications and readmission rates.

AIM: To observe the oral anti-platelet efficacy and the potential action mechanism of polyaspartoyl L-arginine (PDR), a new L-arginine rich compound. METHODS: Platelet aggregation was conducted by Born’s method; bleeding time was determined using tail’s bleeding time in mice; platelet adhesion was carried out with glass bottle method; nitric oxide (NO) was tested with Griess’ method; and cAMP, thromboxane B2 (TXB2) and 6-keto-PGF1α were assessed with commercial kits. RESULTS: The inhibition by PDR (15-60 mg/kg ig or 10 mg/kg iv) of platelet aggregation induced by adenosine diphosphate (ADP), collagen or thrombin at 1 h after oral administration or at 20 min after iv injection for rats (P<0.01), and its (15 mg/kg, ig) inhibition of ADP-induced platelet aggregation for rabbits during 6 h after administration were observed. PDR (15-60 mg/kg) prolonged the bleeding time of mice (P<0.05) and (30 mg/kg) increased NO concentration in plasma. On the other hand PDR did not change the contents of cAMP in platelet and TXB2 or 6-keto-PGF1α in plasma. CONCLUSION: PDR is a novel, oral effective platelet aggregation inhibitor and its action mechanism possibly related to increasing NO generation.

Several studies have shown that activation of unfolded protein response and endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress plays a crucial role in severe cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** occurs within hours after cerebral ischemia,but the relationship between ER stress and autophagy remains *** this study,we established experimental models using oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation in PC12 cells and primary neurons to simulate cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** found that prolongation of oxygen-glucose deprivation activated the ER stress pathway protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase(PERK)/eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit alpha(e IF2α)-activating transcription factor 4(ATF4)-C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP),increased neuronal apoptosis,and induced ***,inhibition of ER stress using inhibitors or by si RNA knockdown of the PERK gene significantly attenuated excessive autophagy and neuronal apoptosis,indicating an interaction between autophagy and ER stress and suggesting PERK as an essential target for regulating *** autophagy with chloroquine exacerbated ER stress-induced apoptosis,indicating that normal levels of autophagy play a protective role in neuronal injury following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** from this study indicate that cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury can trigger neuronal ER stress and promote autophagy,and suggest that PERK is a possible target for inhibiting excessive autophagy in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.

This study presents a novel method to fabricate metal-decorated,sulfur-doped layered double hydroxides （M/SLDH） through spontaneous redox and sulfurization *** developed Ag/SLDH and Pt/SLDH catalysts with abundant heterogeneous interfaces and hierarchical nanostructures demonstrated outstanding oxygen evolution reaction （OER） and hydrogen evolution reaction （HER） performance,achieving low overpotentials of 212 and 35 mV at 10 mA cm-2in 1 M KOH,*** both anode and cathode in water splitting,they required only 1.47 V to reach 10 mA cm-2and exhibited high structural robustness,maintaining stability at 1000 mA cm-2for 300 ***-situ Raman analysis revealed that the synergistic effects of metal nanoparticles and S doping significantly promote the transformation into the S-Co1-xFexOOH layer,which serves as the active phase for water ***,ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy （UPS） and density functional theory （DFT） analyses indicated that incorporating metal nanoparticles and S doping increase electron density near the Fermi level and reduce reaction energy barriers,thus enhancing intrinsic OER and HER *** study provides a scalable strategy for synthesizing high-performance electrocatalysts for water splitting,with promising potential for broader applications.

Background： End-stage hypertrophic cardiomyopathy （HCM） is complicated by substantial adverse events. However, few studies have focused on electrocardiographic features and their prognostic values in HCM. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical manifestations and prognostic value of electrocardiography in patients with end-stage HCM. Methods： End-stage HCM patients were enrolled from a total of 1844 consecutive HCM patients from April 2002 to November 2013 at Fuwai Hospital. Clinical data, including medical history, electrocardiography, and echocardiography, were analyzed. Cox hazards regression analysis was used to assess the risk factors for cardiovascular mortality. Results： End-stage HCM was identified in 99 （5.4%） patients, averaged at 52 ± 16 years old at entry. Atrial fibrillation was observed in 53 patients and mural thrombus in 19 patients. During 3.9 ±3.0 years of follow-up, embolic stroke, refractory heart failure, and death or transplantation were observed in 20, 39, and 51 patients, respectively. The incidence of annual mortality was 13.2%. Multivariate Cox hazards regression analysis identified New York Heart Association Class （NYHA） Ill/IV at entry （hazard ratio [HR]： 1.99; 95% confidence interval [C/I： 1.05-3.80; P = 0.036）, left bundle branch block （LBBB）（HR： 2.80; 95% CI： 1.47-5.31; P = 0.002）, and an abnormal Q wave （HR： 2.21; 95% CI： 1.16-4.23; P = 0.016） as independent predictors of cardiovascular death, in accordance with all-cause death and heart failure-related death. Conclusions： LBBB and an abnormal Q wave are risk factors of cardiovascular mortality in end-stage HCM and provide new evidence for early intervention. Susceptibility of end-stage HCM patients to mural thrombus and embolic events warrants further attention.

Background:Positive surgical margins are independent risk factor for biochemical recurrence,local recurrence,and distant metastasis after radical ***,limited predictive tools are *** study aimed to develop and validate a preoperative nomogram for predicting positive surgical margins after laparoscopic radical prostatectomy(LRP).Methods:From January 2010 to March 2016,a total of 418 patients who underwent LRP without receiving neoadjuvant therapy at Peking University Third Hospital were retrospectively involved in this *** and pathological results of each patient were collected for further *** and multivariable logistic regression(backward stepwise method)were used for the nomogram *** concordance index(CI),calibration curve analysis and decision curve analysis were used to evaluate the performance of our ***:Of 418 patients involved in this study,142 patients(34.0%)had a positive surgical margin on final *** on the backward selection,four variables were included in the final multivariable regression model,including the percentage of positive cores in preoperative biopsy,clinical stage,free prostate specific antigen(fPSA)/total PSA(tPSA),and age.A nomogram was developed using these four *** concordance index(C-index)of the nomogram was 0.722 in the development cohort and 0.700 in the bootstrap *** bias-corrected calibration plot showed a limited departure from the ideal line with a mean absolute error of 2.0%.In decision curve analyses,the nomogram showed net benefits in the range from 0.2 to ***:A nomogram to predict positive surgical margins after LRP was developed and validated,which could help urologists plan surgical procedures.
