Empathetic nursing with mindful cognitive therapy for fatigue,depression,and negative emotions in leukemia patients undergoing long-term chemotherapy

Two-dimensional (2D) materials are vital for the development of advanced materials in the next-generation energy conversion and storage devices. In-situ liquid-phase transmission electron microscopy (LP-TEM) acts as a powerful tool for characterizing the dynamic evolution of materials under work condition in real time and in operando. Herein, this mini-review highlights the considerable advances in the utilization of in-situ LP-TEM for studying the physical and chemical process dynamics of 2D materials, such as their nucleation growth and phase transformation. The electrocatalytic water splitting reactions and CO2 electroreduction of 2D energy materials are highlighted. The underlying electrochemical reaction mechanisms of the 2D electrode materials in rechargeable batteries are discussed and summarized. Finally, the current challenges and perspectives for future research are proposed. This min-review aims to inspire and stimulate further innovation and encourage the broader adoption of LP-TEM in exploring the fascinating dynamics of 2D energy materials.

Map-Based Cloning of zb7 Encoding an IPP and DMAPP Synthase in the MEP Pathway of Maize

IspH is a key enzyme in the last step of the methyI-D-erythritol-4-phosphate （MEP） pathway. Loss of function of IspH can often result in complete yellow or albino phenotype in many plants. Here, we report the characterization of a recessive mutant of maize, zebra7 （zb7）, showing transverse green/yellow striped leaves in young plants. The yellow bands of the mutant have decreased levels of chlorophylls and carotenoids with delayed chloroplast development. Low temperature suppressed mutant phenotype, while alternate light/dark cycle or high temperature enlarged the yellow section. Map-based cloning demonstrated that zb7 encodes the IspH protein with a mis-sense mutation in a conserved region. Transgenic silencing of Zb7 in maize resulted in complete albino plantlets that are aborted in a few weeks, confirming that Zb7 is important in the early stages of maize chloroplast development. Zb7 is constitutively expressed and its expression subject to a 16-h light/8-h dark cycle regulation. Our results suggest that the less effective or unstable IspH in zb7 mutant, together with its diurnal expression, are mechanistically accounted for the zebra phenotype. The increased IspH mRNA in the leaves of zb7 at the late development stage may explain the restoration of mutant phenotype in mature stages.

DHA and EPA protect against cognitive impairment induced by chronic sleep deprivation through regulating iron-mitophagy homeostasis

The cognitive impairments resulting from insufficient sleep have emerged as a significant public health concern in contemporary society， lacking effective treatments due to the absence of elucidation regarding its molecular mechanism. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) against cognitive deficits in a mouse model of chronic sleep deprivation (CSD)， and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms. CSD mice display significant cognitive deficits in the Morris water maze task with obviously neuronal damage. We observed that dysregulation of iron transport proteins (IRP1， TfR1， DMT1， and FPN1) in CSD mice resulted in iron deposition in the cortex. Subsequent assessment revealed upregulation of mitophagy and neuronal lipid peroxidation and downregulation of proteins in the mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes (I-V). Further molecular analysis revealed inhibition of the Sirt3-Nrf2 pathway and its downstream antioxidant molecules (e.g. GPX4， HO-1， SOD2， and NQO1). In contrast， dietary supplementation with DHA or EPA alleviated CSD-induced cognitive impairment by inhibiting neuronal ferroptosis through regulating iron-mitophagy homeostasis. Notably， EPA showed superior efficiency in ameliorating cognitive impairment， potentially due to its stronger interaction with Sirt3 compared to DHA.
