Oxygen vacancies enriched Ir/WOx catalysts for the directly chem-catalytic conversion of cellulose to ethanol

Tungsten and its oxides are highly versatile catalysts with unique properties that hold great promise for a wide array of applications,including biological pathways and chemical *** chemo-catalysis of cellulose to ethanol presents a promising avenue for ethanol synthesis with the potential for enhanced efficiency compared to conventional methods,offering a sustainable and carbon-neutral alternative to existing petrochemical and biological ***,Ir/WOxcatalysts enriched with oxygen vacancies were meticulously prepared and demonstrated remarkable catalytic performance in converting cellulose to ethanol directly in the presence of tungstic *** catalyst achieved a high ethanol yield of 66.5%under optimal reaction conditions,approaching the theoretical yield limit of traditional ethanol *** results revealed the presence of oxygen defects,Bronsted/Lewis acidity,and Ir nanoclusters on the catalyst surface,working synergistically to facilitate the cascade catalysis of cellulose hydrolysis,sugar retro-aldol condensation reaction,and C2 intermediate hydrodeoxygenation to *** situ Fourier transform infrared spectrometer analysis confirmed the catalyst's ability to enhance the adsorption and activation of ethylene glycol for ethanol *** manipulating subtle structural features,this study offers a fresh perspective on tungsten group catalyst design and underscores the importance of synergistic effects among catalytic sites for the efficient production of ethanol from cellulose.

Speaker-independent speech emotion recognition by fusion of functional and accompanying paralanguage features

Functional paralanguage includes considerable emotion information, and it is insensitive to speaker changes. To improve the emotion recognition accuracy under the condition of speaker-independence, a fusion method combining the functional paralanguage features with the accompanying paralanguage features is proposed for the speaker-independent speech emotion recognition. Using this method, the functional paralanguages, such as laughter, cry, and sigh, are used to assist speech emotion recognition. The contributions of our work are threefold. First, one emotional speech database including six kinds of functional paralanguage and six typical emotions were recorded by our research group. Second, the functional paralanguage is put forward to recognize the speech emotions combined with the accompanying paralanguage features. Third, a fusion algorithm based on confidences and probabilities is proposed to combine the functional paralanguage features with the accompanying paralanguage features for speech emotion recognition. We evaluate the usefulness of the functional paralanguage features and the fusion algorithm in terms of precision, recall, and F1-measurement on the emotional speech database recorded by our research group. The overall recognition accuracy achieved for six emotions is over 67% in the speaker-independent condition using the functional paralanguage features.

Genetic studies are traditionally based on single-gene analysis. The use of these analyses can pose tremendous challenges for elucidating complicated genetic interplays involved in complex human diseases. Modern pathway-based analysis provides a technique, which allows a comprehen- sive understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying complex diseases. Extensive studies uti- lizing the methods and applications for pathway-based analysis have significantly advanced our capacity to explore large-scale omics data, which has rapidly accumulated in biomedical fields. This article is a comprehensive review of the pathway-based analysis methods the powerful methods with the potential to uncover the biological depths of the complex diseases. The general concepts and procedures for the pathway-based analysis methods are introduced and then, a comprehensive review of the major approaches for this analysis is presented. In addition, a list of available path- way-based analysis software and databases is provided. Finally, future directions and challenges for the methodological development and applications of pathway-based analysis techniques are dis- cussed. This review will provide a useful guide to dissect complex diseases.

Investigation of the teaching cognition and capabilities of clinical advisers for masters degree level nursing specialty graduate students

Purpose:To assess the culturing cognition and teaching of core capabilities of clinical advisers for masters degree level nursing graduate students in order to provide criteria for selecting and training clinical advisers,and to monitor clinical teaching ***:A questionnaire was completed by 66 nursing specialty clinical *** questionnaire was divided into three sections:basic condition,culturing cognition of the nursing specialty graduate students,and self-evaluation of teaching core capabilities as measured by the Clinical Nursing Teachers Core Capabilities Graphic Rating ***:Forty-five of the surveyed advisers served undergraduate level students(68.18%),and seven of them(10.61%)had experience advising graduate nursing *** advisers,in general,had limited knowledge regarding guidance for nursing specialty graduate *** self evaluation total score for core capabilities teaching was(120.557.37),containing professional capability(4.47±0.34),leadership capability(4.01±0.22),problem solving capability(3.89±0.30),and education teaching capability(3.65±0.23).The highest scored item was the capability to assess and handle a patients’condition(4.44±0.56),while the lowest scored item was the capability to do scientific research(3.29±0.89).Conclusion:Clinical advisers for nursing specialty graduate students in our survey were generally inexperienced with regarding to training and culturing nursing graduate *** advisers were prepared for core teaching competency,but were not qualified to conduct scientific *** on these results,it would be beneficial to provide the clinical advisers more training on teaching cognition for graduate students and improve their competency to perform scientific research.

Marginal living donor in kidney transplantation： experience in a Chinese single center

Background Living donor kidney transplantation is becoming popular in China, whereas, in clinical situations, some kidney donors may be sub-optimal, namely marginal living donor. The present study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of marginal living donor kidney transplantation in a Chinese single center. Methods Between January 2001 and December 2009, 888 kidney transplantations were performed in our center; 149 were living donor kidney transplantations. The living donors and recipients were followed up regularly after the operation. Of the living donors, 30 donors were marginal, who were older than 60 years or suffered from kidney anomaly or some benign diseases. Among the non-marginal living kidney transplantations, 58 donors and recipients had complete peri- operative and follow-up data. We compared the marginal and non-marginal living donor kidney transplantations with regard to donor age, follow-up period, donor＇s serum creatinine at the last follow-up, recipient＇s serum creatinine at the last follow-up, and graft survival at the last follow-up. Results The mean age of donors in the marginal and non-marginal living donors were （55＋9）（37-66） and （43＋12）（30- 59） years. The mean follow-up times of the marginal and non-marginal groups were （26.4＋13.4） months and （28.8＋14.8） months. The donor and recipient serum creatinine levels at the last follow-up were （1.16＋0.20） mg/dl and （1.30＋0.24） mg/dl in the marginal group, and （1.12＋0.32） mg/dl and （1.34＋0.32） mg/dl in the non-marginal group. Three recipients in the marginal group and five recipients in the non-marginal group had acute rejection episodes during the first year. Actuarial 3-year graft survival was 96.7% in the marginal group and 100% in the non-marginal group. No significant differences were detected between the two groups with regard to these data. Biomechanical properties of peripheral nerve after acellular ：reatment

Peripheral nerve injury causes a high rate of disability and a huge economic burden, and is currently one of the serious health problems in the world. The use of nerve grafts plays a vital role in repairing nerve defects. Acellular nerve grafts have been widely used in many experimental models as a peripheral nerve substitute. The purpose of this study was to test the biomechanical properties of acellular nerve grafts. Methods Thirty-four fresh sciatic nerves were obtained from 17 adult male Wistar rats （age of 3 months） and randomly assigned to 3 groups： normal control group, nerve segments underwent no treatment and were put in phosphate buffered saline （pH 7.4） and stored at 4℃ until further use; physical method group, nerve segments were frozen at -196℃ and then thawed at 37℃; and chemical method group, nerve segments were chemically extracted with the detergents Triton X-200, sulfobetaine-10 （SB-10） and sulfobetaine-16 （SB-16）. After the acellularization process was completed, the structural changes of in the sciatic nerves in each group were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining and field emission scanning electron microscopy, then biomechanical properties were tested using a mechanical apparatus （Endura TEC ELF 3200, Bose, Boston, USA）. Results Hematoxylin-eosin staining and field emission scanning electron microscopy demonstrated that the effects of acellularization, demyelination, and integrity of nerve fiber tube of the chemical method were better than that of the physical method. Biomechanical testing showed that peripheral nerve grafts treated with the chemical method resulted in some decreased biomechanical properties （ultimate load, ultimate stress, ultimate strain, and mechanical work to fracture） compared with normal control nerves, but the differences were not statistically significant （P 〉0.05）. Conclusion Nerve treated with the chemical method may be more appropriate for use in implantation than nerve treated with the physical method.

The development of dual functional material for cyclic CO2capture and hydrogenation is of great significance for converting diluted CO2into valuable fuels,but suffers from kinetic limitation and deactivation of adsorbent and ***,we engineered a series of RuNa/γ-Al2O3materials,varying the size of ruthenium from single atoms to clusters/*** coordination environment and structure sensitivity of ruthenium were quantitatively investigated at atomic *** findings reveal that the reduced Ru nanoparticles,approximately 7.1 nm in diameter with a Ru-Ru coordination number of 5.9,exhibit high methane formation activity and selectivity at 340°*** Ru-Na interfacial sites facilitate CO2migration through a deoxygenation pathway,involving carbonate dissociation,carbonyl formation,and ***-situ experiments and theoretical calculations show that stable carbonyl intermediates on metallic Ru nanoparticles facilitate heterolytic C–O scission and C–H bonding,significantly lowering the energy barrier for activating stored CO2.

COMPrompter: reconceptualized segment anything model with multiprompt network for camouflaged object detection

We rethink the segment anything model(SAM) and propose a novel multiprompt network called COMPrompter for camouflaged object detection(COD). SAM has zero-shot generalization ability beyond other models and can provide an ideal framework for COD. Our network aims to enhance the single prompt strategy in SAM to a multiprompt strategy. To achieve this, we propose an edge gradient extraction module, which generates a mask containing gradient information regarding the boundaries of camouflaged objects. This gradient mask is then used as a novel boundary prompt, enhancing the segmentation process. Thereafter, we design a box-boundary mutual guidance module, which fosters more precise and comprehensive feature extraction via mutual guidance between a boundary prompt and a box prompt. This collaboration enhances the model's ability to accurately detect camouflaged objects. Moreover, we employ the discrete wavelet transform to extract high-frequency features from image embeddings. The high-frequency features serve as a supplementary component to the multiprompt ***, our COMPrompter guides the network to achieve enhanced segmentation results, thereby advancing the development of SAM in terms of COD. Experimental results across COD benchmarks demonstrate that COMPrompter achieves a cutting-edge performance, surpassing the current leading model by an average positive metric of 2.2% in COD10K. In the specific application of COD, the experimental results in polyp segmentation show that our model is superior to top-tier methods as well.
