A possible quasi-periodic oscillation（QPO） at frequency 7.045 × 10-5Hz is found in the narrow-line Seyfert 1galaxy Mrk 142 in the data of XMM-Newton collected on 2020 April 11. We find that the QPO signal is statistically significantly larger than the 5σ level and highly coherent with quality factor Q > 5 at the 0.3–10 keV band by using the method of the Lomb–Scargle Periodogram, the Weighted Wavelet Z-transform and the REDFIT.We analyze the data in 0.3–0.6 keV, 0.6–1 keV, 1–3 keV and 3–10 keV energy bands, and find obvious QPO signals at 0.3–0.6 keV and 1–3 keV bands. We then analyze the time-average spectra and time variability at the QPO frequency of 7.045 × 10-5Hz, and use a model to fit them. We find that the QPO signal mainly comes from the X-ray hot corona.

Objective: To investigate the role of ginsenoside Rd（GRd） in acute myeloid leukemia（AML） cell differentiation. Methods: AML cells were treated with GRd（25, 50, 100 and 200 μg/mL）, retinoic acid（RA, 0.1g/L） and PD98059（20 mg/mL） for 72 h, cell survival was detected by methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide and colony formation assays, and cell cycle was detected by flow cytometry. Cell morphology and differentiation were observed by Wright-Giemsa staining, peroxidase chemical staining and cellular immunochemistry assay, respectively. The protein expression levels of GATA binding protein 1（GATA-1）, purine rich Box-1（PU.1）, phosphorylated-extracellular signal-related kinase（p-ERK）, ERK, phosphorylated-glycogen synthase kinase-3β（p-GSK3β）, GSK3β and signal transducer and activator of transcription 1（STAT1） were detected by Western blot. Thirty-six mice were randomly divided into 3 groups using a random number table: model control group（non-treated）, GRd group [treated with 200 mg/（kg·d） GRd] and homoharringtonine（HTT） group [treated with 1 mg/（kg·d） HTT]. A tumor-bearing nude mouse model was established, and tumor weight and volume were recorded. Changes of subcutaneous tumor tissue were observed after hematoxylin and eosin staining. WT1 and GATA-1 expressions were detected by immunohistochemical staining. Results: The cell survival was inhibited by GRd in a dose-dependent manner and GRd caused G0/G1cell arrest（P<0.05）. GRd treatment induced leukemia cell differentiation, showing increased expressions of peroxidase and specific proteins concerning erythrogenic or granulocytic differentiation（P<0.05）. GRd treatment elicited upregulation of p-ERK, p-GSK-3β and STAT1 expressions in cells, and reversed the effects of PD98059 on inhibiting the expressions of peroxidase, GATA-1 and PU.1（P<0.05）. After GRd treatment, tumor weight and volume of mice were decreased, and tumor cells underwent massive apoptosis and necrosis（P<0.05）. Diet,serving as a vital source of nutrients,exerts a profound influence on human health and disease progression.Recently,dietary interventions have emerged as promising adjunctive treatment strategies not only for cancer but also for neurodegenerative diseases,autoimmune diseases,cardiovascular diseases,and metabolic disorders.These interventions have demonstrated substantial potential in modulating metabolism,disease trajectory,and therapeutic responses.Metabolic reprogramming is a hallmark of malignant progression,and a deeper understanding of this phenomenon in tumors and its effects on immune regulation is a significant challenge that impedes cancer eradication.Dietary intake,as a key environmental factor,can influence tumor metabolism.Emerging evidence indicates that dietary interventions might affect the nutrient availability in tumors,thereby increasing the efficacy of cancer treatments.However,the intricate interplay between dietary interventions and the pathogenesis of cancer and other diseases is complex.Despite encouraging results,the mechanisms underlying diet-based therapeutic strategies remain largely unexplored,often resulting in underutilization in disease management.In this review,we aim to illuminate the potential effects of various dietary interventions,including calorie restriction,fasting-mimicking diet,ketogenic diet,protein restriction diet,high-salt diet,high-fat diet,and high-fiber diet,on cancer and the aforementioned diseases.We explore the multifaceted impacts of these dietary interventions,encompassing their immunomodulatory effects,other biological impacts,and underlying molecular mechanisms.This review offers valuable insights into the potential application of these dietary interventions as adjunctive therapies in disease management.

The Chinese Bayan Obo deposit is a world-class rare earth element(REE) deposit with considerable niobium(Nb) and iron(Fe) resources. A complete genetic understanding on all metals is fundamental for establishing genetic models at Bayan Obo. With extensive research being focused on REE enrichment, the timing and controls of Nb enrichment remain unresolved at Bayan Obo, which is mainly due to the challenges in dating, i.e. multistage thermal events, fine-grained minerals with complex textures and the rare occurrence of uranium-enriched minerals with mature dating methods. Based on robust geological and petrographic frameworks, here we conducted ion probe uranium-lead(U-Pb) dating of ferrocolumbite to unravel the timing, hence the genesis of Nb mineralization. Three types of hydrothermal ferrocolumbites—key Nb-bearing minerals—are identified based on their textures and mineral assemblages. They yield U-Pb ages of 1312 ± 47 Ma(n = 99), 438 ± 7 Ma(n = 93), and 268 ± 5 Ma(n = 19), respectively. In line with deposit geology, we tentatively link the first, second and third stage Nb mineralization to Mesoproterozoic carbonatite magmatism, ubiquitous early Paleozoic hydrothermal activity, and Permian granitic magmatism, respectively. While quantifying the contribution of metal endowment from each stage requires further investigation, our new dates highlight that multi-stage mineralization is critical for Nb enrichment at Bayan Obo, which may also have implications for the enrichment mechanism of Nb in REE deposits in general.

AIM:To investigate the clinical characteristics,treatment methods and outcomes of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)in highly myopic eyes with implantable collamer lens(ICL).METHODS:High myopia patients who received treatment for nontraumatic RRD after ICL implantation surgery at the Retinal Department of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center from Jan 2018 to Dec 2022 were reviewed.Comprehensive ophthalmologic examinations including visual acuity measurement and digital fundus photography were performed in each patient.RESULTS:A total of nine RRD eyes from nine patients who received V4c-ICL implantation were included.The mean time from ICL implantation surgery to the diagnosis of RRD was 32.44±22.56mo(range,1-60mo).At the initial visit for RRD,giant retinal tear(GRT),horseshoe tear,simple round hole,and horseshoe tear combined with round hole were detected in 3,3,2,and 1 eye(s),respectively,with maculaoff in eyes.Eight patients received surgical treatment,and one patient was treated by retinal laser photocoagulation alone.The ICL was preserved in 7 eyes.At the last followup,the mean best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)improved significantly from 1.76±1.06 logMAR at presentation to 0.81±1.01 logMAR(P=0.035),and no case of recurrent retinal detachment was found.CONCLUSION:The morphological presentation of retinal breaks is diverse in this study.The ICL can be preserved in most cases during the course of retinal detachment repair surgery in our data,companied with acceptable visual and anatomical outcomes.

Sodium-ion batteries show great potential as an alternative energy storage system,but safety concerns remain a major hurdle to their mass adoption.This paper analyzes the key factors and mechanisms leading to safety issues,including thermal runaway,sodium dendrite,internal short circuits,and gas release.Several promising solutions are proposed,such as high-safety electrode materials in the cathode and anode,high-safety electrolytes,and external battery management systems.Here in also we emphasize the importance of selecting appropriate analysis methods and developing reliable failure models while suggesting advanced machine learning tools for analysis.With a comprehensive approach,this study offers valuable recommendations to optimize materials and solutions for improving the safety of sodium-ion batteries.

AIM:To observe the effect of ghrelin,a growth hormonereleasing peptide,on retinal angiogenesis in vitro under high glucose(HG)stress and to explore the possible mechanism of autophagy.METHODS:Human retinal microvascular endothelial cells(HRMECs)were treated with high concentration of glucose alone or in combination with ghrelin.The cell migration,tube formation and the expression of the autophagy-related proteins LC3-II/I,Beclin-1,p62,phosphorylated AKT(p-AKT)/AKT and phosphorylated mammalian target of rapamycin(p-mTOR)/mTOR were detected.Then,to clarify the correlation between ghrelin effect and autophagy,AKT inhibitor VIII was adopted to treat HRMECs,and cell migration,tube formation as well as the protein expressions of LC3-II/I,Beclin-1 and p62 were observed.RESULTS:Under HG stress,ghrelin inhibited migration and tube formation of HRMECs.Ghrelin inhibited the increases in the protein levels of LC3-II/I,Beclin-1 and the decreases in the protein levels of p62,p-AKT/AKT and p-mTOR/mTOR induced by HG stress.Moreover,under the action of AKT/mTOR pathway inhibitors,the effects of ghrelin on migration and tube formation were both reduced.In addition,the expression of LC3-II/I and Beclin-1 were significantly up-regulated and the expression of p62 was down-regulated.CONCLUSION:Retinal angiogenesis under in vitro HG stress can be inhibited by ghrelin through activating AKT/mTOR pathway to inhibit autophagy.

BACKGROUND Immune dysregulation and metabolic derangement have been recognized as key factors that contribute to the progression of hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF).However,the mechanisms underlying immune and metabolic derangement in patients with advanced HBV-ACLF are unclear.AIM To identify the bioenergetic alterations in the liver of patients with HBV-ACLF causing hepatic immune dysregulation and metabolic disorders.METHODS Liver samples were collected from 16 healthy donors(HDs)and 17 advanced HBV-ACLF patients who were eligible for liver transplantation.The mitochondrial ultrastructure,metabolic characteristics,and immune microenvironment of the liver were assessed.More focus was given to organic acid metabolism as well as the function and subpopulations of macrophages in patients with HBV-ACLF.RESULTS Compared with HDs,there was extensive hepatocyte necrosis,immune cell infiltration,and ductular reaction in patients with ACLF.In patients,the liver suffered severe hypoxia,as evidenced by increased expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α.Swollen mitochondria and cristae were observed in the liver of patients.The number,length,width,and area of mitochondria were adaptively increased in hepatocytes.Targeted metabolomics analysis revealed that mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation decreased,while anaerobic glycolysis was enhanced in patients with HBV-ACLF.These findings suggested that,to a greater extent,hepa-tocytes used the extra-mitochondrial glycolytic pathway as an energy source.Patients with HBV-ACLF had elevated levels of chemokine C-C motif ligand 2 in the liver homogenate,which stimulates peripheral monocyte infiltration into the liver.Characterization and functional analysis of macrophage subsets revealed that patients with ACLF had a high abundance of CD68^(+)HLA-DR^(+)macrophages and elevated levels of both interleukin-1βand transforming growth factor-β1 in their livers.The abundance of CD206^(+)CD163^(+)macrophages and expression of interleukin-10 decreased.Th
