四线法弱发光样品绝对量子产率的测量

弱发光样品量子产率测量困难,提出了四线法的测量方法,采用荧光光谱仪和积分球附件相结合的测量方式,主要利用衰减片的添加来实现样品荧光发射信号的相对增强,较大程度提高了弱发光样品量子产率测量的准确度。采用该装置测定了标准物质YG晶体的绝对量子产率为42.0%,相对误差0.95%,验证了荧光分光光度计和积分球结合的方式用于绝对量子产率测量的可行性。然后介绍了四线法用于绝对量子产率测量的依据、测量过程及数据处理方法。采用四线法测量了标准样品罗丹明6G和硫酸奎宁的绝对量子产率,结果显示相对误差分别为1.3%和1.1%,远小于5.0%(量子产率允许误差),表明该方法具有较高的准确性。详细探讨了实验条件对四线法绝对量子产率测量结果的影响,发现测试的最佳条件为衰减片放于激发端、衰减后的光源强度达到荧光光谱仪检测器光强线性响应区间的上限。采用不同浓度罗丹明6G溶液模拟弱发光、中强发光以及强发光样品,分别用二线法(常规方法)和四线法测量各溶液的绝对量子产率,将测试结果与文献报导数据对比,发现四线法更适用于弱发光和中强发光样品绝对量子产率的测量,尤其用于弱发光样品测量时,相对误差由二线法的10%降至四线法的0.32%。

Laminar-to-Turbulence Transition Revealed Through a Reynolds Number Equivalence

Flow transition from laminar to turbulent mode (and vice versa)—that is, the initiation of turbulence—is one of the most important research subjects in the history of engineering. Even for pipe flow, predicting the onset of turbulence requires sophisticated instrumentation and/or direct numerical simulation, based on observing the instantaneous flow structure formation and evolution. In this work, a local Reynolds number equivalence c (ratio of local inertia effect to viscous effect) is seen to conform to the Universal Law of the Wall, where c = 1 represents a quantitative balance between the abovementioned two effects. This coincides with the wall layer thickness (y+= 1, where y+ is the dimensionless distance from the wall surface defined in the Universal Law of the Wall). It is found that the characteristic of how the local derivative of c against the local velocity changes with increasing velocity determines the onset of turbulence. For pipe flow, c - 25, and for plate flow, c - 151.5. These findings suggest that a certain combination of c and velocity (nonlinearity) can qualify the source of turbulence (i.e., generate turbulent energy). Similarly, a re-evaluation of the previous findings reveals that only the geometrically narrow domain can act locally as the source of turbulence, with the rest of the flow field largely being left for transporting and dissipating. This understanding will have an impact on the future large-scale modeling of turbulence.

Hevein has been found to be an essential element in coagulation of rubber particles in latex of rubber trees. In a previous study, we cloned a 1 241-bp fragment of a 5＇ upstream region of the hevein gene by genome walking. This fragment was analyzed by a 5＇ end nested deletion method in the present study, fused with a uidA （gus） gene to produce a series of tested constructs, which were transferred into C-serum of latex and the Gus activities were detected. Results showed that the fragment from -749 to -292 was sufficient for expression of gus gene in latex, and the fragment from -292 to -168 was crucial in response to abscisic acid inducement. In a transient transgenic test of rubber leaf with particle bombardment, construct Hev749 conferred gus-specific expression in veins, in which the latex tubes mainly distributed. This implies that the fragment from -749 to -292 was laticiferous-specific.

Global warming and its climatic and environmental effects have mainly been investigated in terms of the absolute warming *** attention has been paid to the contribution of absolute warming rate to variability on various time scales of surface air temperature(SAT),which may be a more direct index for measuring the ecoclimatic effect of warming *** present study analyzed the role of secular warming trend in the variations of global land SAT for 1901–*** than one-third of annual SAT variations were contributed by the warming trend over large parts of the globe *** ratios were up to two-thirds over eastern South America,parts of South Africa and the regions around the southwestern Mediterranean and Sunda islands where the absolute warming rate was moderate but the endemic species were undergoing exceptional loss of *** ratios also exhibited smallest seasonal difference over these ***,the ratio of the warming trend to the SAT variations may be a better measure compared to the absolute warming rate for the local *** should also pay more attention to the regions with high ratio,not only the regions with the high absolute warming rate.

This paper focuses on the relationship between the phase transition of the Pacific decadal oscillation （PDO） and decadal variation of the East Asian summer monsoon （EASM） in the twentieth century. The first transition occurred in the 1940s, with an enhanced SST in the North Pacific and reduced SST in the tropical eastern Pacific and South Indian Ocean. In agreement with these SST changes, a higher SLP was found in most parts of the Pacific, while a lower SLP was found in the North Pacific and most parts of the Indian Ocean. In this case, the EASM was largely enhanced with a southerly anomaly in the lower troposphere along the east coast of China. Correspondingly, there was less rainfall in the Yangtze River valley and more rainfall in northern and southern China. An opposite change was found when the PDO reversed its phase in the late 1970s. In the tropical Indian Ocean and western Pacific, however, the SST was enhanced in both the 1940s and 1970s. As a result, the western Pacific subtropical high （WPSH） tended to extend westward with a larger magnitude in the 1970s. The major features were reasonably reproduced by an atmospheric general circulation model （IAP AGCM4.0） prescribed with observed SST and sea ice. On the other hand, the westward extension of the WPSH was exaggerated in the 1970s, while it was underestimated in the 1940s. Besides, the spatial pattern of the simulated summer rainfall in eastern China tended to shift southward compared with the observation.

Biology is a rich source of great ideas that can inspire us to find successful ways to solve the challenging problems in engineering practices including those in the chemical industry. Bio-inspired chemical engineering(Bio Ch E)may be recognized as a significant branch of chemical engineering. It may consist of, but not limited to, the following three aspects: 1) Chemical engineering principles and unit operations in biological systems; 2) Process engineering principles for producing existing or developing new chemical products through living ‘devices';and 3) Chemical engineering processes and equipment that are designed and constructed through mimicking(does not have to reproduce one hundred percent) the biological systems including their physical–chemical and mechanical structures to deliver uniquely beneficial performances. This may also include the bio-inspired sensors for process monitoring. In this paper, the above aspects are defined and discussed which establishes the scope of BioChE.

In a low permeability reservoir, the existence of a moving boundary is considered in the study of the transient porous flow with threshold pressure gradient. The transmission of the moving boundary directly indicates the size of the drainage area as well as the apparent influences on the pressure behavior. The nonlinear transient flow mathematical model in which the threshold pressure gradient and the moving boundary are incorporated is solved by advanced mathematical methods. This paper presents some new analytical solutions describing the pressure distribution at a constant rate and the production decline in a constant pressure production with the boundary propagation. It is shown that the greater the threshold pressure gradient, the slower the transmission of the moving boundary, the larger the pressure loss will be, and there is no radial flow in the middle and later phases of the wellface pressure for a well at a constant rate. We have the the maximum moving boundary at a specific drawdown pressure for a low permeability reservoir The greater the threshold pressure gradient, the smaller the maximum moving boundary distance, the quicker the production decline for a well in a constant pressure production will be. The type curve charts for the modern well test analysis and the rate transient analysis with a moving boundary are obtained and the field test and the production data are interpreted as examples to illustrate how to use our new results.
