An integrated petrographical and geochemical study of the massive dolomite of the lower Ordovician Penglaiba Formation of the Tarim Basin,outcropping at Yonganba recognized three dolomite types:very finely to finely crystalline nonplanar-a to planar-s dolomite(D1);medium crystalline planar-s to planar-e dolomite(D2);and coarse crystalline nonplanar-a dolomite(D3).All have been affected by burial.D1 and D2 dolomites developed initially before or during shallow burial and later recrystallized,whereas D3 dolomite replaced the initial limestone entirely during *** three dolomites have similar geochemical *** D2 dolomite tends to have more inter-crystalline pores(inherited from primary pores)and higher porosity due to its outstanding compaction resistance during shallow burial;whereas D3 dolomite does not retain appreciable primary pores due to strong cementation and pressure dissolution before *** study provides a useful model for understanding the origin and porosity development of burial dolomite,in particular Paleozoic dolomite.

Compounds having an active hydroxy group, such as, acyloins can be easily alkylated by alkyl halides in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst （PTC）. The reaction is usually carried out in the presence of con-centrated aqueous sodium or potassium hydroxide and a phase transfer catalyst, such as, quaternary ammonium salts^[1-3] species, miscible which facilitate the interphase transfer of making reactions between reagents in two im-phases possible. The reaction involves a series of equilibrium and mass-transfer steps.

The present work is devoted to the development of Fe-（B-Si）-Zr amorphous alloys with high glass-forming ability and good magnetic properties. Using the cluster-plus-glue-atom model proposed for ideal amorphous structures, [FeFe11B3Si]（Fe1-xZrx） was determined as the cluster formula of Fe-（B-Si）-Zr alloys. The glass formation and thermal stability of the serial alloys, namely, [FeFel^B3Si]（Fel_xZrx）（x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.75, and 1.0）, were studied by the combination of copper mold casting, X-ray diffraction, and differential thermal analysis techniques. The maxima of glass-forming ability and thermal stability were found to occur at the compositions of [FeFe11B3Si] （Fe0.6Zr0.4） and [FeFe11B3Si]（Fe0.5Zr0.5）. The alloys can be cast into amorphous rods with 1.5 ram diameter, and upon reheating, the amorphous alloys exhibit a large undercooled liquid span of 37 K. The saturation magnetization of the [FeFe11B3Si]（Fe0.5Zr0.5） amorphous alloy was measured to be 1.4 T.

It is of great importance to design highly active and stable electrocatalysts with low Pt loading to improve the sluggish kinetics of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)for fuel ***,we report an epitaxial growth of a Pt–Pd bimetallic heterostructure with a Pt loading as low as 8.02 wt%.Both experimental studies and theoretical calculations conﬁrm that the heterointerfaces play a major role in charge redistribution,which accelerates electron transfer from Pd to Pt,contributing to downshifting the d-band center of Pd and consequently greatly weakening the O adsorption energy for a critical optimal adsorption conﬁguration of O^(*)on the *** particular,the adsorbed O^(*),an intermediate in a bridge mode between adjacent Pt and Pd atoms,has a relative low adsorption energy,which easily forms H2O to escape for releasing the active sites toward *** Pt–Pd heterostructured catalyst presents the highest mass activity of 6.06 A⋅mg^(-1) Pt among all reported Pt–Pd alloyed or composited catalysts,which is 26.4 times of the sample Pt/C(0.23 A⋅mg^(-1) Pt).Further,the fuel cell assembled by the electrocatalyst shows a current density of 1.23 A⋅cm2 at 0.6 V and good stability for over 100 h.

Genotypic and environmental variation in Cd, Cr, As, Ni and Pb concentrations of grains, and the relationships between these heavy metals and Fe, Zn were investigated using 9 rice genotypes grown in 6 locations for two successive years. Significant genotypic variation was detected in the five heavy metal concentrations in grains, indicating the possibility to reduce the concentration of these heavy metals in grains through breeding approach. The environmental effect varied with metal, with Pb and Ni having greater variation than the other three metals. There was significant genotype-environment (location) interaction of the concentrations of all five heavy metals in grains, suggesting the importance of cultivar choice in producing rice with low heavy metal concentrations in grains for a given location. Correlation analysis showed that Cd and As, Cr and Ni, and As and Pb con-centrations in rice grains were closely associated, and that Ni concentration in grains was negatively correlated with Zn concen-tration.

A previously healthy 47-year-old Chinese man presented in January 2009 with extreme fatigue,fever,and night *** （palpable,2 cm in the right hypochondrium） and splenomegaly （palpable,2 cm in the left hypochondrium） were identified,and axillary lymph nodes were swollen.A laboratory investigation showed a white blood cell （WBC） count of 39.8 × 10^9/L with eosinophils 52% （absolute eosinophil count of 20.7 × 10^9/L）,hemoglobin level of 14.9 g/dl and platelet count of 50.0 × 10^9/L.

Nitrate is the leading cause of eutrophication worldwide and is one of the most challenging pollutants for restoration of polluted surface waters such as lakes, rivers and reservoirs. We report herein a new architecture of iron nanoparticles for high-efficiency denitrification by selective reduction of nitrate (NO3-) to dinitrogen (N2). The iron nanoparticles are doped with nitrogen (FeN) and encapsulated within a thin layer of nitride-carbon (NC). The nanoparticles have high pyrrolic N content (17.4 at.%) and large specific surface area (2040 m2/g). Laboratory experiments demonstrated high N2selectivity (91%) and nitrate removal capacity (6004 mg N/g Fe) for treatment of nitrate-containing water. This iron-based nanomaterial overcomes shortcomings of conventional catalysts by eliminating the use of precious and toxic heavy metals (e.g., Pd, Pt, Cu, Ni) and minimizing the generation of undesirable byproducts (e.g., ammonia) from the reactions with nanoscale zero-valent iron (n ZVI). The multiple electron transfers process from NO3- to N2can be fine-tuned by adjusting the NC shell thickness. Superior electrocatalytic perfor- mance, low cost and minimal environmental impact of the iron-derived nanocatalyst offer promising prospects for water purification, waste treatment and environmental remediation.

Phenotypic screening of soybean germplasm suitable for high planting density is currently the most viable strategy to increase yield. Previous studies have shown that soybean varieties with dwarf features and a short petiole often exhibit a compact plant architecture which could improve yield through increased planting density, although previously reported short petiole accessions were ultimately not usable for breeding in practice. Here, we established a method to assess petiole length and identified an elite mutant line, M657, that exhibits high photosynthetic efficiency. The agronomic traits of M657 were evaluated under field conditions, and appeared to be stable for short petiole across seven locations in northern, Huang–Huai, and southern China from 2017 to 2018. Compared with the Jihuang 13 wild type, the mutant M657 was shorter in both petiole length and plant height, exhibited lower total area of leaf, seed weight per plant and 100-seed weight, but had an increased number of effective branches and the growth period was prolonged by 2–7 days. Using M657 as a parental line for crosses with four other elite lines, we obtained four lines with desirable plant architecture and yield traits, thus demonstrating the feasibility of adopting M657 in breeding programs for soybean cultivars of high density and high yield.

Evaluation of the Diagnostic Value of Digital Rectal Examination for Lymph Node Metastasis in Mid-Low Rectal Cancer

Background: NCCN’s guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of rectal cancer suggest that accurate preoperative clinical staging of rectal cancer is very important. Reliable preoperative evaluation is the key to the development of surgical protocols, in order to investigate the diagnostic value of digital rectal diagnosis for lymph node metastasis of middle and low rectal cancer. Methods: We prospectively performed digital rectal examination in 258 patients with mid-low rectal cancer before operation, to analyze the distance from the lower margin of the tumor to the margin of the anus, the diameter of the invasion of the intestinal wall of the tumor, the accuracy between the general type and depth of invasion of the tumor and the pathological results of the postoperative specimen, and the predictability of the lymph node metastasis rate of the rectal digital examination. Results: The results of the analysis showed that the above indicators and postoperative pathological findings have high accuracy. Conclusions: It is concluded that accurate and detailed digital rectal examination before operation can predict lymph node metastasis rate of mid-low rectal cancer at a higher level and accurately.
