An experimental investigation on the properties of the near wake behind the rotor of a Horizontal-Axis Wind turbine （HAWt） was carried out at model scale. Measurements were made with a stationary slanted hot-wire anemometer using the technique of phase-locked averaging. the primary aim is to study the formation and development of the three-dimensional wake. Five axial locations were chosen within four chord lengths of the blades over a range of tip speed ratios. the results show that during the downstream developmerit of the wake, the wake centre traces a helical curve with its rotation direction opposite to that of the rotor. the distribution of mean velocity behind the HAWt rotor reveals an expansion and a decay of the three-dimensional wake. the shapes of the mean velocity distribution are similar along the blades span at the same downstream axial location. It is shown that the turbulence levels in the wake are higher than those in the non-wake region. the circumferential component and the radial component of the turbulence intensity are higher than the axial component. Our study offers some food of thought for better understanding of the physical features of the flow field as well as the performance of HAWt.

Due to the competition and high cost associated with die casting defects, it is urgent to adopt a rapid and effective method for defect analysis. In this research, a novel expert network approach was proposed to avoid some disadvantages of rule-based expert system. the main objective of the system is to assist die casting engineer in identifying defect, determining the probable causes of defect and proposing remedies to eliminate the defect. 14 common die casting defects could be identified quickly by expert system on the basis of their characteristics. BP neural network in combination with expert system was applied to map the complex relationship between causes and defects, and further explained the cause determination process. Cause determination gives due consideration to practical process conditions. Finally, corrective measures were recommended to eliminate the defect and implemented in the sequence of difficulty.

A novel artificial anal sphincter system has been developed to simulate the normal physiology of the human anorectum. With the goal of engineering a safe and reliable device, the model of human colonic blood flow has been built and the relationship between the colonic blood flow rate and the operating occlusion pressure of the anorectum is achieved. the tissue ischemia is analyzed based on constitutive relations for human anorectum. the results suggest that at the planned operating occlusion pressure of less than 4 kPa the artificial anal sphincter should not risk the vascularity of the human colon.

A new type Boussinesq model is proposed and applied for wave propagation in a wave flume of uniform depth and over a submerged bar with current present or absent,***,for the propagation of monochromatic incident wave with current absent,the Boussinesq model is tested in its complete form,and in a form without the introduction of utility velocity *** is validated that the introduction of utility velocity variables can improve the characteristics of velocity field,dispersion and *** versions of the Boussinesq models are of higher accuracy than the fully-nonlinear fourth-order model,which is one of the best forms among the existing traditional Boussinesq models that do not incorporate breaking mechanism in one ***,the Boussinesq model in its complete form is applied to simulating the propagation of bichromatic incident waves with current present or absent,respectively,and the modeled results are compared to the analytical ones or the experimental *** modeled results are reasonable in the case of inputting bichromatic incident waves with the strong opposing current present.

An Al2.3.ceramic matrix composite was fabricated by self-oxidation of pure Al+NaOH, and its microstructure, mechanical properties and growth mechanism were analyzed. Experimental results show that the composite possesses better mechanical properties, higher density and faster growth velocity than that made of Al-Mg-Si alloy. the composite grows primarily along the crucible wall and its microstructure is characterized by a periodic wavy like structure.

Boron-doped diamond (BDD) thin films with different crystal grain sizes were prepared by controlling the reacting gas pressure using hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD).the morphologies and structures of the prepared diamond thin films were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman *** electrochemical responses of K4Fe(CN)6 on different BDD electrodes were *** results suggested that electron transfer was faster at the boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond (BDND) thin film electrodes in comparison with that at other BDD thin film *** prepared BDD thin film electrodes without any modification were used to directly detect glucose in the basic *** results showed that the as-prepared BDD thin film electrodes exhibited good selectivity for detecting glucose in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA).the higher sensitivity was observed on the BDND thin film grown on the boron-doped microcrystalline diamond (BDMD) thin film surface,and the linear response range,sensitivity and the low detection limit were 0.2.–10 mM,189.1 μA mmol-1 cm-2.and 2. μM (S/N=3. for glucose in the presence of AA and UA,respectively.

A novel type of bioreducible amphiphilic multiarm hyperbranched copolymer (H40-star-PLA-SS-PEG) based on Boltorn H40 core,poly(L-lactide) (PLA) inner-shell,and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) outer-shell with disulfide-linkages between the hydrophobic and hydrophilic moieties was developed as unimolecular micelles for controlled drug release triggered by *** obtained H40-star-PLA-SS-PEG was characterized in detail by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR),Fourier transform infrared (FtIR),gel permeation chromatography (GPC),differential scanning calorimeter (DSC),and thermal gravimetric analysis (tGA).transmission electron microscopy (tEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) analyses suggested that H40-star-PLA-SS-PEG formed stable unimolecular micelles in aqueous solution with an average diameter of 19 ***,these micelles aggregated into large particles rapidly in response to 10 mM dithiothreitol (Dtt),most likely due to shedding of the hydrophilic PEG outer-shell through reductive cleavage of the disulfide *** a hydrophobic anticancer model drug,doxorubicin (DOX) was encapsulated into these reductive unimolecular *** vitro release studies revealed that under the reduction-stimulus,the detachment of PEG outer-shell in DOX-loaded micelles resulted in a rapid drug *** cytometry and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) measurements indicated that these DOX-loaded micelles were easily internalized by living *** tetrazolium (Mtt) assay demonstrated a markedly enhanced drug efficacy of DOX-loaded H40-star-PLA-SS-PEG micelles as compared to free *** of these results show that these bioreducible unimolecular micelles are promising carriers for the triggered intracellular delivery of hydrophobic anticancer drugs.
