Preliminary study on Salvia miltiorrhiza bung endophytic fungus

Objective To select the strains which can produce tanshinone ⅡA like its host plant Salvia miltiorrhiza *** A total of 50 strains of endophytic fungi were isolated from healthy,living and symptomless tissues of Salvia miltiorrhiza bung,among which 29 strains were obtained from the root,14 from the stem,3 from the leaf,3 from the flower and 1 from the *** antimicrobial activities against nine different bacteria,including both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria,were measured by Oxford plate agar diffusion *** Our data showed that all but four strains had significant antibacterial activities on at least one indicator bacterium to some extent,and five strains(DR1,DR4,DR16,DR18 and DF2)manifested quite prominent antibacterial activities against certain pathogenic *** some degree,it might indicate that this endophytic fungus isolated from the tissues of Salvia miltiorrhiza bung has a potential value as a natural antibacterial medicine as *** layer chromatography(TLC)and high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)were carried out to test selected strains,both inside and outside of the cell to see if any strain can produce tanshinone Ⅱ*** result showed that extracts from three strains,labeled as DR12(outside cell),DR21(inside cell)and DF3(inside cell),had a component with the same Rf value in TLC assay as that of authentic tanshinone Ⅱ*** extract from DR12(outside cell)and DR21(inside cell)had a peak at retention time identical to that of authentic tanshinone ⅡA in *** The fungi appear to produce the bioactive compound tanshinone ⅡA,and they could be used to produce tanshinone ⅡA by *** provides a new way to synthesize this natural medicine.

Antidiabetic effect of a novel non-thiazolidinedione PPAR γ/α agonist on ob/ob mice

Aim:To study whether T33,a new synthesized non-thiazolidinedione(TZD)per-oxisome proliferator-activated receptor(PPAR)γ/α dual agonist has an antidia-betic effect on ob/ob ***:Ob/ob mice were treated with 4 mg/kg or 8mg/kg T33 by gavage for 20 *** glucose levels were measured *** glucose tolerance test(OGTT)and an insulin tolerance test(ITT)were pre-formed on d 8 and d 12,*** levels of insulin,triglyceride and freefatty acid(FFA)in the serum were measured at the end of *** and liver triglyceride content was also ***:T33reduced the hyperglycemia,hyperinsulinemia and hyperlipidemia of the ob/*** OGTT and ITT showed that the insulin resistance state of the ob/obmice was obviously ameliorated after T33 *** 20 d treatment with 8mg/kg T33,the triglyceride content in the gastrocnemius muscle decreasedsignificantly.T33 did not have any effect on triglyceride content in the liver,whereas rosiglitazone significantly increased the hepatocyte lipid ***:The PPARγ/α dual agonist T33 has antidiabetic and insulin-sensitiz-ing effects in ob/ob *** has the potential to be a new therapeutic candidate forthe treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Outcomes and risk factors for failure of trabeculectomy in glaucomatous patients in Southwest China:a 325 eyes analysis

AIM:To evaluate the outcomes and elucidate the failure factors for trabeculectomy with mitomycin C(MMC)in Southwest Chinese ***:A retrospective correlational study was conducted on the glaucomatous patients who underwent initial trabeculectomy with MMC in Southwest Hospital and had been followed up for 1-3y.A complete success for surgery is defined as a postoperative intraocular pressure(IOP)>5 and≤21 mm Hg and 20%reduction of IOP compared to preoperative,without IOP-lowering medications.A qualified success for surgery is defined as the abovementioned postoperative IOP with or without IOP-lowering *** primary outcomes were IOP,the number of IOP-lowering medications,and cumulative success *** secondary outcomes included best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),mean deviation(MD)of visual field,major complications,and risk factors for surgical ***:A total of 325 eyes of 261 glaucomatous patients had been included in our *** the mean IOP and the number of IOP-lowering medications were significantly decreased from 32.9±12.0 to 16.4±5.7 mm Hg(P<0.0001)and 3.0±0.9 to 0.9±1.0(P<0.0001),respectively,at the last *** cumulative complete success rate and qualified success rate were 77.8%and 92.0%at 1-year follow-up,and 47.2%and 77.7%at 3-year follow *** were no significant differences in surgical outcomes between primary angle-closure glaucoma(PACG)and primary open angle glaucoma(POAG).In PACG patients,the success rates of trabeculectomy were comparable with those of ***(HR=1.904,P=0.011),encapsulated bleb(HR=2.756,P<0.001),and more preoperative topical medications(HR=2.475,P=0.008)were risk factors for surgical ***:The qualified success rate of trabeculectomy with MMC in glaucomatous patients in the cohort is 92.0%at 1-year,and 77.7%at 3-year follow ***,encapsulated bleb,and more preoperative topical medications are associated with surgical failure.

Conceptual design studies of the 5 m terahertz antenna for Dome A, Antarctica

As the highest, coldest and driest place in Antarctica, Dome A provides exceptionally good observing conditions for ground-based observations over terahertz wavebands. The 5 m Dome A Terahertz Explorer （DATES） has been proposed to explore new terahertz windows, primarily over wavelengths between 350 and 200 pm. DATE5 will be an open-air, fully-steerable telescope that can function by unmanned operation with remote control. The telescope will be able to endure the harsh polar environment, including high altitude, very low temperature and very low air pressure. The unique specifications, including high accuracies for surface shape and pointing and fully automatic year-around remote operation, along with a stringent limit on the periods of on-site assembly, testing and maintenance, bring a number of challenges to the design, construction, assembly and operation of this telescope. This paper intro- duces general concepts related to the design of the DATE5 antenna. Beginning from an overview of the environmental and operational limitations, the design specifications and requirements of the DATE5 antenna are listed. From these, major aspects on the conceptual design studies, including the antenna optics, the backup structure, the pan- els, the subreflector, the mounting and the antenna base structure, are explained. Some critical issues of performance are justified through analyses that use computational fluid dynamics, thermal analysis and de-icing studies, and the proposed approaches for test operation and on-site assembly. Based on these studies, we conclude that the specifications of the DATE5 antenna can generally be met by using enhanced technological approaches.

Differences in Values Between Mother and Daughter in Cord

Edna O＇Brien （1930-）, an Irish novelist, poet, and short story writer, is considered as a pioneer for her frank portrayals of women and the most gifted woman writing in English at her time. Her first novel, The Country Girls （1960）, was an immediate success. Her writing is lyrical and intense with passions and aspirations. Set in Britain, the short story Cord describes a story about how the mother and the daughter got along in the short reunion after a long separation. The paper mainly explores different religious values, cultural values, and social values between them which caused irreconcilable conflicts. The present paper concludes that the ＂Cord＂, the blood tie, can never get rid of the spiritual barrier. Only mutual understanding can eliminate the gap and acquire a harmonious relation between parents and children.

On Huck＇s Establishment of Identity in The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn from the Perspective of Initiation Theme

The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn written by Mark Twain is considered as representative novel with initiation theme in American literary circle. It has taken the fancy of the readers throughout the whole world since it was frequently printed and widely translated. In the story, Mark created an image of a boy named Huck who had an unexpected adventure by sailing a raft down the Mississippi River with his friend, Jim. After experiencing the adventure, Huck finally became mature. The present paper gives a brief introduction of the story. Then, the paper mainly explores how Huck established his identity from the following aspects： his disapproval to slavery and his consciousness of moral development and obligation.

基于电磁场平均的概念,利用Maxwell-Garnett有效介质理论对含有椭球形掺杂物的混合粒子等效光学常数进行研究,分析了掺杂物形状比例参数和体积分数对混合粒子等效光学常数的影响.结果表明:掺杂物形状比例参数存在一个临界值,当形状比例参数小于临界值时,随着形状比例参数增加,含椭球形掺杂物的混合粒子等效光学常数与含球形掺杂物的混合粒子等效光学常数的差别增大;反之,形状比例参数对混合粒子等效光学常数的影响非常小.混合粒子的等效光学常数介于基体和掺杂物的光学常数之间,当掺杂物的体积分数增大时,混合粒子的等效光学常数趋向于掺杂物的光学常数.
