Electroactive self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) containing viologen group are formed through the adsorption of thiol-functionalized viologen compound ch3(ch2)(9)V2+(ch2)(8)SH, where V2+ is n,n'-dialkylbipyridinium (i.e. a viologen group), onto gold electrodes from methanol/water solution and its electrochemical behavior is investigated ty Ac voltammetry and square wave voltammetry, which have the high sensitivity against background charging. The viologen SAM formed is a sub-monolayer and the normal potentials corresponding to the two successive one-electron transfer processes of the active centers (viologen) are -360 mV and -750 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl) in 0.1 mol/L phosphate buffer solutions (pH 6.96) respectively, and the standard electron transfer rate constant is 9.0 s(-1). The electrochemical behavior of this SAM in various solutions has been preliminarily discussed.

nickel(Ⅱ)complexes with pyrazole-based ligands are widely employed in catalysis of ethylene oligomerization and subsequent Friedel-Crafts alkylation of *** have prepared ten new nickel(Ⅱ)dibromide complexes with various substituted bis(azolyl)*** have been characterized using^(1)H nMr,Ir,high resolution mass spectrometry and elemental *** structures of three complexes have been unambiguously established using x-ray *** was found that these complexes in the presence of Et2AlCl or Et_(3)Al_(2)Cl_(3)are active both in ethylene oligomerization and Friedel-Crafts alkylation processes(activity up to 3720 kgoligomer·mol[ni]^(−1)·h^(−1)).The use of Et_(3)Al_(2)Cl_(3)results in a higher share of alkylated products(up to 60%).Moreover,catalytic systems activated with Et_(3)Al_(2)Cl_(3)produced small amounts of odd carbon number olefins(up to 0.8%).The Friedel-Crafts alkylation was used as a trap for previously undetected short-chain odd carbon number olefins(C_(3)and C_(5)).

To achieve fabrication and cost competitiveness in organic optoelectronic devices that include organic solar cells(OSCs)and organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs),it is desirable to have one type of material that can simultaneously function as both the electron and hole transport layers(ETLs and HTLs)of the organic devices in all device architectures(i.e.,normal and inverted architectures).We address this issue by proposing and demonstrating Cs-intercalated metal oxides(with various Cs mole ratios)as both the ETL and HTL of an organic optoelectronic device with normal and inverted device *** results demonstrate that the new approach works well for widely used transition metal oxides of molybdenum oxide(MoOx)and vanadium oxide(V_(2)O_(x)).Moreover,the Cs-intercalated metaloxide-based ETL and HTL can be easily formed under the conditions of a room temperature,water-free and solution-based *** conditions favor practical applications of OSCs and ***,with the analyses of the Kelvin Probe System,our approach of Cs-intercalated metal oxides with a wide mole ratio range of transition metals(Mo or V)/Cs from 1:0 to 1:0.75 can offer significant and continuous work function tuning as large as 1.31 eV for functioning as both an ETL and ***,our method of intercalated metal oxides can contribute to the emerging large-scale and low-cost organic optoelectronic devices.

The electrochemical properties of MEH-PPV were: studied in ionic liquid([bmim](+)[PF6](-)) by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and AC impedance measurements. Both p- and n-doping of MEH-PPV were observed in the cyclic voltammograms, The chronoamperometric and AC impedance results indicate that the p-doping of MEH-PPV was controlled by the linear diffusion of counterions.

An experimental study of the combustion of two isomers of n-pentane and iso-pentane in laminar cool flames has been carried out. Three flames were studied, one with n-pentane, the second with iso-pentane, and the third with an equimolar mixture of the two isomers. Particular attention has been given to the low temperature region ahead of the hot region of the flame and the cool flame chemistry occurring there. A unique experimental facility has been used to provide access to this cool flame region. Comparisons are made of the structures of the three flames, with particular attention on the different intermediate species produced and the correlations between the fuel molecule structure and the specific intermediates produced.

Diffusivity Models and Greenhouse Gases Fluxes from a Forest,Pasture,Grassland and Corn Field in northern Hokkaido,Japan

Information on the most influential factors determining gas flux from soils is needed in predictive models for greenhouse gases emissions. We conducted an intensive soil and air sampling along a 2 000 m transect extending from a forest, pasture, grassland and corn field in Shizunai, Hokkaido （Japan）, measured CO2, ch4, n20 and nO fluxes and calculated soil bulk density （Pb）, air-filled porosity （fa） and total porosity （Ф）. Using diffusivity models based on either fa alone or on a combination of fa and 4, we predicted two pore space indices： the relative gas diffusion coefficient （Ds/Do） and the pore tortuosity factor （T）. The relationships between pore space indices （Ds/Do and T） and C02, ch4, n2O and nO fluxes were also studied. results showed that the grassland had the highest Pb while fa and Ф were the highest in the forest. CO2, ch4, n20 and nO fluxes were the highest in the grassland while n20 dominated in the corn field. Few correlations existed between fa, Ф, Pb and gases fluxes while all models predicted that Ds/Do and T significantly correlated with CO2 and ch4 with correlation coefficient （r） ranging from 0.20 to 0.80. Overall, diffusivity models based on fa alone gave higher Ds/Do, lower τ, and higher r2 and better explained the relationship between pore space indices （Ds/Do and τ） and gases fluxes. Inclusion of Ds/Do and τ in predictive models will improve our understanding of the dynamics of greenhouse gas fluxes from soils. Ds/Do and τ can be easily obtained by measurements of soil air and water and existing diffusivity models.
