Fixed-point fast sweeping methods are a class of explicit iterative methods developed in the literature to efficiently solve steady-state solutions of hyperbolic partial differential equations(PDEs).As other types of fast sweeping schemes,fixed-point fast sweeping methods use the Gauss-Seidel iterations and alternating sweeping strategy to cover characteristics of hyperbolic PDEs in a certain direction simultaneously in each sweeping *** resulting iterative schemes have a fast convergence rate to steady-state ***,an advantage of fixed-point fast sweeping methods over other types of fast sweeping methods is that they are explicit and do not involve the inverse operation of any nonlinear local ***,they are robust and flexible,and have been combined with high-order accurate weighted essentially non-oscillatory(WENO)schemes to solve various hyperbolic PDEs in the *** multidimensional nonlinear problems,high-order fixed-point fast sweeping WENO methods still require quite a large amount of computational *** this technical note,we apply sparse-grid techniques,an effective approx.m.tion tool for multidimensional problems,to fixed-point fast sweeping WENO methods for reducing their computational ***,we focus on fixed-point fast sweeping WENO schemes with third-order accuracy(Zhang et al.2006[41]),for solving Eikonal equations,an important class of static Hamilton-Jacobi(H-J)*** experiments on solving multidimensional Eikonal equations and a more general static H-J equation are performed to show that the sparse-grid computations of the fixed-point fast sweeping WENO schemes achieve large savings of CPU times on refined meshes,and at the same time maintain comparable accuracy and resolution with those on corresponding regular single grids.

Hematopoiesis is a finely tuned process that generates all blood cell types through self-renewal and differentiation, which is crucial for maintaining homeostasis. Acute infections can prompt a hematopoietic response known as emergency myelopoiesis. In this study, using a Candida albicans (C. albicans) infection model, we demonstrated for the first time that disruption of Fhl2 led to increased fungal burden,heightened inflammatory response and reduced survival rates. Impaired myeloid hematopoiesis and immune cell production were evident, as proved by the decreased numbers of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and granulocytes in the bone marrow of Fhl2-deficient mice. In conclusion, FHL2 regulated emergency myelopoiesis in response to C. albicans, affecting the host’s defense against pathogens.

In this study, the mean droplet diameter in the cavity zone and the total mass transfer area of a multi-stage highspeed disperser(HSD) reactor with different packing combinations were measured and evaluated. The effects of rotational speed and packing radius, as well as the packing ring radius and numbers, on the mean droplet diameter and the total mass transfer area were evaluated. A model was established to calculate the mass transfer area in the cavity zone in the HSD reactor, and it was found that the packings contribute 61%–82% of the total mass transfer area. A correlation for predicting the mass transfer area in the packing zone was regressed by the dimensionless analysis method. An enhancement factor based on the mass transfer area in the packing zone was proposed to evaluate the effect of packing combination on mass transfer area. Two optimum packing combinations were proposed in consideration of the mean droplet diameter and the enhancement factor.

A novel molecular interaction chemical model （mICm） for silicate melts has been suggested based on statistical thermodynamics. It can simultaneously predict activities of all components in the CaO-FeO-SiO2 and CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 melts using only four binary parameters for each binary melt which can be determined by fitting activities of its two components. The results indicate that the predicted values of activity of FeO and SiO2 are in good agreement with the experimental data at 1823 K and 1873 K, and those of CaO, SiO2 and Al2O3 are in reasonable agreement with the graphical integration data of the Gibbs-Duhem equation. This shows that the model is effective in which the physical interaction plays a main role and the chemical one does the auxiliary function.

Direct numerical simulations are used to investigate the Open Von Kfirmfin Swirling Flow, a new type of unsteady three-dimensional flow that is formed between two counter-rotating coaxial disks with an axial extraction enclosed by a cylinder chamber. Solution verification shows that monotonic convergence is achieved on three systematically refined grids for average pressure at the disk periphery with a small grid uncertainty at 3.5%. Effects of the rotational speeds and flow rates on the flow field are ex.m.ned. When the disks are rotating at the lowest speed, ＋100 RPm, only circular vortices are formed regardless of the flow rates. When the disks are rotating at ＋300 RPm and ＋500 RPm, negative spiral vortex network is formed. The radial counterflow concept for such spiral vortex network is verified by ex.m.ning various horizontal cuts and radial velocity component, which show radial outflows in two bands near the two disks and radial inflow in one band between them. Overall, the flow is similar to the Stewartson type flow but with significant differences for all three velocity components due to the axial suction at the upper disk center and gap between the disk periphery and chamber wall.

研究了具有PPy(聚吡咯)微纳米尺度涂层的xLA导电纤维的研制与应变传感性能。但由于xLA纤维的表面十分光滑,因此在用传统的化学气相沉积法进行涂层之前需要对纤维进行特殊处理。等离子体处理可以改变纤维表面粗糙度,使PPy更易于附着于纤维表面且增加其与纤维的接触强度。比较了经过不同等离子体处理时间(5和15min)的导电xLA纤维的力学及应变传感性能。实验结果表明,等离子体处理对纤维的力学性能几乎没有影响,但对导电纤维的应变传感性能影响很大。

Predication of Component Activities in the molten Aluminosilicate Slag CaO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2 by molecular Interaction Volume model

A novel thermodynamic model-the molecular interaction volume model （mIVm） which can be reduced to the Flory-Huggins equation of polymer solution was employed for the prediction of component activities in the ternary molten aluminosilicate slag CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 at different temperatures. The results show that the predicted values of activity of CaO, Al2O3 and SiO2 are in reasonably agreement with experimental data in some ranges of their concentrations which are about x1 〈0.25 for CaO, x2=0.05-0.55 for Al2O3 and x3=0.03-0.85 for SiO2. This further shows that mIVm requires only two binary parameters for each sub-binary system to predict activities of all components in a multicomponent solution and is the superior alternative in a molten slag.

Nonobstructive azoospermia(NOA)refers to the failure of spermatogenesis,which affects approx.m.tely 1%of the male population and contributes to 10%of male *** has an underlying basis of endocrine imbalances since proper human spermatogenesis relies on complex regulation and cooperation of multiple hormones.A better understanding of subtle hormonal disturbances in NOA would help design and improve hormone therapies with reduced risk in human fertility *** purpose of this review is to summarize the research on the endocrinological aspects of NOA,especially the hormones involved in hypothalamic–pituitary–testis axis(HPTA),including gonadotropin-releasing hormone,follicle-stimulating hormone,luteinizing hormone,prolactin,testosterone,estradiol,sex hormone binding globulin,inhibin B,anti-müllerian hormone,and *** the NOA men associated with primary testicular failure,the quality of currently available evidence has not been sufficient enough to recommend any general hormone optimization *** other NOA patients,especially those with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism,could be treated with hormonal *** these approaches have succeeded in resuming the fertility in many NOA patients,the prudent strategies should be applied in individuals according to specific NOA etiology by balancing fertility benefits and potential *** review also discusses how NOA can be induced by immunization against hormones.
