Prognostic value of circulating tumor cells combined with neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

BACKGROUND Circulating tumor cell(CTC)count and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)are both closely associated with the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).AIM To investigate the prognostic value of combining these two indicators in *** Clinical data were collected from patients with advanced HCC who received im-mune therapy combined with targeted therapy at the Department of Oncology,the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University,Sichuan,china,from 2021 to *** optimal cutoff values for CTC programmed death-ligand 1(PD-L1)(+)>1 or CTC PD-L1(+)≤1 and NLR>3.89 or NLR≤3.89 were evaluated using X-Tile *** were categorized into three groups based on CTC PD-L1(+)counts and NLR:CTC-NLR(0),CTC-NLR(1),and CTC-NLR(2).The relationship between CTC-NLR and clinical variables as well as survival rates was *** Patients with high CTC PD-L1(+)expression or NLR at baseline had shorter median progression-free survival(m-PFS)and median overall survival(mOS)than those with low levels of CTC PD-L1(+)or NLR(P<0.001).Mean-while,patients in the CTC-NLR(2)group showed a significant decrease in mPFS and *** regression analysis revealed that alpha-fetoprotein(AFP),CTC PD-L1(+),and CTC-NLR were independent predictors of *** time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve showed that the area under the curve of CTC-NLR at 12 months(0.821)and 18 months(0.821)was superior to that of AFP and CTC PD-L1(+).CONCLUSION HCC patients with high CTC PD-L1(+)or NLR expression tend to exhibit poor prognosis,and a high baseline CTC-NLR score may indicate low ***-NLR may serve as an effective prognostic indicator for patients with advanced HCC receiving immunotherapy combined with targeted therapy.

Introduction to Meridian Space Weather Monitoring Project

The Meridian Project is a ground- based network program to monitor solar-terrestrial space environment, which consists of a chain of ground-based observatories with multiple instruments including magnetometers, ionosondes, HF and VHF radar, Lidar, IPS monitors, sounding rockets etc. The chain is mainly located in the neighborhood of 120°E meridian, and is thus named the Meridian Project. It has officially been approved by the chinese government and will be finished by 2009. This talk will give an overview of the Meridian Project and the proposed International Space Weather Meridian Circle Program.

To the editor： Retrocaval ureter is an uncommon congenital anomaly resulting from persistence of the posterior cardinal veins during embryotogic development, This can cause an obstruction of the right kidney, which resulting in right flank pain and obstructive nephropathy. Laparoscopic surgery is a suitable therapy for treating this disease with decreased convalescence and analgesic requirements. Herein we applied the augmented reality （AR） on one patient with retrocaval ureter, which treated by laparoscopic ureteroureterostomy. The postoperative course was uneventful.

Compression Creep Behavior of High Volume Fraction of SiC Particles Reinforced Al Composite Fabricated by Pressureless Infiltration

The compression creep deformation of the high volume fraction of SiC particles reinforced AI-Mg-Si composite fabricated by pressure-less infiltration was investigated. The experimental results show that the creep stress exponents are very high at temperatures of 673 K, 723 K and 773 K, and if taking the threshold stress into account, the true stress exponent of minimum creep strain rate is still approximately 5, although the volume fraction of reinforcements is very high. The creep strain rate in the high volume fraction reinforced aluminum alloy matrix composites is controlled by matrix lattice diffusion. It is found that the creep-strengthening effect of high volume fraction of silicon carbide particles is significant, although the particles do not form effective obstacles to dislocation motion.

A metal-clad planar polymer waveguide refractive index sensor based on epoxy(EPO)polymer materials by using light intensity interrogation at 850 nm is *** polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)material is deployed as the low refractive index(RI)buffer layer in order to better couple the optical guided mode and the surface plasmon polaritons(SPP)mode for working in water *** effects of the gold film thickness,PMMA buffer layer thickness,waveguide layer thickness,waveguide width,and gold length on the sensor sensing characteristics have been comprehensively *** results demonstrate that the normalized transmission increases quasi-linearly with the increment of RI of the analyte from 1.33 to *** sensitivity is 491.5 dB/RIU,corresponding to a high RI resolution of 2.6×10^(9)*** designed SPP-based optical waveguide sensor is low-cost,wide-range,and high-precision,and has a broad application prospect in biochemical sensing with merits of miniaturization,flexibility,and multiplexing.

Revisiting the Climatology of Atmospheric Blocking in the Northern Hemisphere

In addition to the occurrence of atmospheric blocking, the climatology of the characteristics of blocking events, including duration, intensity, and extension, in four seasons over the Northern Hemisphere was analyzed for the period 1950-2009. The seasonality and spatial variations of these characteristics were studied according to their longitudinal distributions. In general, there were sharp discrepancies in the blocking characteristics between winter and summer, and these differences were more prominent over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The blocking not only occurred more frequently but also underwent stronger amplification in winter; likewise, the blocking occurred less frequently and underwent weaker amplification in summer. There are very strong interrelationships among different blocking characteristics, suggesting that they are supported by similar physical factors. In addition, the relationship between blocking over different regions and East Asian circulation was examined. Ural-Siberia is a major blocking formation region in all seasons that may exert a downstream impact on East Asia. The impact is generally weak in summer, which is due to its lower intensity and smaller duration. However, the extratropical circulation over East Asia in summer can be disturbed persistently by the frequent occurrence of blocking over the Asian continent or the Western Pacific. In particular, the blocking frequency over the Western Pacific significantly increased during the study period. This climatological information provides a background for studying the impact of blocking on East Asian circulation under both present and future climate conditions.

End stage renal disease （ ESRD ） and cardiovascular disease are induced by arteriosclerosis （AS）. The latest investigation shows that AS is a special inflammatory state. The constant inflammation,which has been defined as a micro inflammatory state is related to the decline of renal function and blood purification, but not the result of infections caused by external pathogenic microorganisms or internal opportunistic pathogenic microorganisms. We investigated the mechanism of interleukin-10 （IL-10） gene-1082 A/G protection effect to keep ESRD patients away from micro inflammation and AS.

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON SOUND SPEED PROPAGATING THROUGH HIGH SPEED AERATED FLOW IN OPEN CHANNEL

An experiment concerning the sound propagation in aerated open channel flow was designed and conducted in a variable slope chute. The acquisition of sound data was done by the hydro-phones installed into the bottom wall of the chute. The data were analyzed and processed by the tape recorder and a 3562A analyzer. The primary experimental results indicate that the sound speed in aerated flow is varied with the air concentration and highly lower than each of the sound speed in pure water or air. As released by the derived theoretical formula, the minimum sound of 24 m/s in aerated flow happened when the air concentration achieved to 50%. This result shows that the compressibility of high speed aerated flow should be considered when the air concentration is near to 50%. A criterion of compressibility of high speed aerated flow was also given in this paper.
