Suppressing the lattice oxygen diffusion via high-entropy oxide construction towards stabilized acidic water oxidation

The scale-up deployment of ruthenium(Ru)-based oxygen evolution reaction(OER)electrocatalysts in proton exchange membrane water electrolysis(PEMWE)is greatly restricted by the poor *** the lattice-oxygen-mediated mechanism(LOM)has been identified as the major contributor to the fast performance degradation,impeding lattice oxygen diffusion to inhibit lattice oxygen participation is imperative,yet remains challenging due to the lack of efficient ***,we strategically regulate the bonding nature of Ru–O towards suppressed LOM via Ru-based high-entropy oxide(HEO)*** lattice disorder in HEOs is believed to increase migration energy barrier of lattice *** a result,the screened Ti_(23)Nb_(9)Hf_(13)W_(12)Ru_(43)O_(x) exhibits 11.7 times slower lattice oxygen diffusion rate,84%reduction in LOM ratio,and 29 times lifespan extension compared with the state-of-the-art RuO_(2) *** work opens up a feasible avenue to constructing stabilized Ru-based OER catalysts towards scalable application.

The growth in biomedical data resources has raised potential privacy concerns and risks of genetic information leakage. For instance, exome sequencing aids clinical decisions by comparing data through web services, but it requires significant trust between users and providers. To alleviate privacy concerns, the most commonly used strategy is to anonymize sensitive data. Unfortunately, studies have shown that anonymization is insufficient to protect against reidentification attacks. Recently, privacy-preserving technologies have been applied to preserve application utility while protecting the privacy of biomedical data. We present the PICOTEES framework, a privacy-preserving online service of phenotype exploration for genetic-diagnostic variants (https://***:3000/). PICOTEES enables privacy-preserving queries of the phenotype spectrum for a single variant by utilizing trusted execution environment technology, which can protect the privacy of the user's query information, backend models, and data, as well as the final results. We demonstrate the utility and performance of PICOTEES by exploring a bioinformatics dataset. The dataset is from a cohort containing 20,909 genetic testing patients with 3,152,508 variants from the Children's Hospital of Fudan University in China, dominated by the Chinese Han population (>99.9%). Our query results yield a large number of unreported diagnostic variants and previously reported pathogenicity.

Lithium metal batteries(LMBs)show great promise for achieving energy densities over 400 Wh·kg^(-1).However,highly flammable organic electrolytes are a long-lasting problem that triggers safety hazards and hinders the commercial application of ***,a nonflammable diluted highly concentrated electrolyte(DHCE)with ethoxy(pentafluoro)cyclotriphosphazene(PFPN)as a diluent is developed to simultaneously achieve high safety and cycling stability of high-voltage *** optimal DHCE not only ensures reversible Li deposition/dissolution behavior with a superior average Coulombic efficiency(CE)over 99.1%on lithium metal anode(LMA),but also suppresses side reactions and stress crack on the LiCoO_(2)(LCO)under high cut-off *** newly developed DHCE exhibits high thermal stability,showing complete nonflammability and reduced heat generation between the electrolyte and delithiated LCO/cycled *** work offers an opportunity for rational designing nonflammable electrolytes toward high-voltage and safe LMBs.

A novel design of micro-aluminum(μAl)powder coated with bi-/tri-component alloy layer,such as:ni-P and ni-P-Cu(namely,Al@ni-P,Al@ni-P-Cu,respectively),as combustion catalysts,were introduced to release its huge energy inside Al-core and promote rapid pyrolysis of ammonium perchlorate(AP)at a lower temperature in aluminized *** microstructure of Al@ni-P-Cu demonstrates that a three-layer ni-P-Cu shell,with the thickness of~100 nm,is uniformly supported byμAl carrier(fuel unit),which has an amorphous surface with a thickness of~2.3 nm(catalytic unit).The peak temperature of AP with the addition of Al@ni-P-Cu(3.5%)could significantly drop to 316.2℃ at high-temperature thermal decomposition,reduced by 124.3℃,in comparison to that of pure AP with 440.5℃.It illustrated that the introduction of Al@ni-P-Cu could weaken or even eliminate the obstacle of AP pyrolysis due to its reduction of activation energy with 118.28 kJ/*** laser ignition results showed that the ignition delay time of Al@ni-P-Cu/AP mixture with 78 ms in air is shorter than that of Al@ni-P/AP(118 ms),decreased by 33.90%.Those astonishing breakthroughs were attributed to the synergistic effects of adequate active sites on amorphous surface and oxidation exothermic reactions(7597.7 J/g)of Al@ni-P-Cu,resulting in accelerated mass and/or heat transfer rate to catalyze AP pyrolysis and ***,it is believed to provide an alternative Al-based combustion catalyst for propellant designer,to promote the development the propellants toward a higher energy.

Chaperone-mediated autophagy is one of three types of autophagy and is characterized by the selective degradation of proteins. Chaperone-mediated autophagy contributes to energy balance and helps maintain cellular homeostasis, while providing nutrients and support for cell survival. Chaperone-mediated autophagy activity can be detected in almost all cells, including neurons. Owing to the extreme sensitivity of neurons to their environmental changes, maintaining neuronal homeostasis is critical for neuronal growth and survival. Chaperone-mediated autophagy dysfunction is closely related to central nervous system diseases. It has been shown that neuronal damage and cell death are accompanied by chaperone-mediated autophagy dysfunction. Under certain conditions, regulation of chaperone-mediated autophagy activity attenuates neurotoxicity. In this paper, we review the changes in chaperone-mediated autophagy in neurodegenerative diseases, brain injury, glioma, and autoimmune diseases. We also summarize the most recent research progress on chaperone-mediated autophagy regulation and discuss the potential of chaperone-mediated autophagy as a therapeutic target for central nervous system diseases.

Lithium metal batteries(LMBs) promise energy density over 400 Wh kg^(-1).However,they suffer severe electrochemical performance deterioration at sub-zero *** failure behavior highly correlates to inferior lithium metal anode(LMA) compatibility and sluggish Li^(+) ***,we demonstrate that cyclopentylmethyl ether(CPME) based diluted high-concentration electrolyte(DHCE)enables-60℃ LMBs *** leveraging the loose coordination between Li^(+) and CPME,such developed electrolyte boosts the formation of ion clusters to derive anion-dominant interfacial chemistry for enhancing LMA compatibility and greatly accelerates Li^(+) desolvation *** resulting electrolyte demonstrates high Coulombic efficiencies(CE),providing over 99.5%,99.1%,98.5% and 95% at 25,-20,-40,and-60℃*** assembled Li-S battery exhibits remarkable cyclic stability in-20,and-40℃ at 0.2 C charging and 0.5 C *** at-60℃,Li-S cell with this designed electrolyte retains> 70% of the initial capacity over 170 ***,lithium metal coin cell and pouch cell with10 mg cm^(-2) high S cathode loading exhibit cycling stability at-20℃.This work offers an opportunity for rational designing electrolytes toward low temperature LMBs.
