Zircon U-Pb ages and O-Hf isotopes of Quaternary trachytes from the East Sea:Implications for the genesis of low-δ^(18)O magmas

Quaternary intraplate magmatism formed several volcanic islands and seamounts,including Dokdo(DD),Ulleungdo(UD),Simheungtack(ST),Anyongbok,and Isabu in the southwest of the East Sea back-arc *** this study,we present whole-rock geochemical,zircon U–Pb age,and in situ O–Hf isotope data for the submerged volcanic rocks from DD,UD,and ST to provide new insights into the eruption timing of these volcanoes and constrain the magma evolution *** samples used in this study were trachytes and exhibited ferroan,alkalic,and metaluminous to weakly peraluminous *** showed light rare earth element(REE)-enriched patterns with(La/Yb)N ratios of 25.3–31.7 and mostly negative Eu anomalies in a chondrite-normalized REE *** addition,they were enriched in large-ion lithophile elements and high field strength elements;they exhibited positive Pb anomalies and strongly negative Ba,Sr,P,and Ti *** zircons yielded a weighted-mean 206Pb/238U age of 2.61,0.348–0.704,and 2.76–2.94 Ma for the DD,UD,and ST trachytes,*** zircons exhibited lowerδ^(18)O values than normal depleted mantle values,regardless of the crystallization age and spatial distribution of ***δ^(18)O values showed no correlation with U contents or Th/U ratios,indicating that the lowδ^(18)O signatures were of primary magmatic *** Hf isotopic compositions of the zircons were relatively heterogeneous but predominately characterized by positive eHf *** O–Hf mixing modeling revealed that low-δ^(18)O rocks with positive eHf values from the UD and ST volcanoes were derived from a hybrid source of recycled juvenile crustal materials with low-δ^(18)O and positive eHf signatures and an enriched mantle source with normalδ^(18)O and negative eHf *** juvenile oceanic crust in the source was likely metasomatized by seawater at high temperatures prior to *** contrast,the felsic magma that formed the DD volcanoes may have assimilated with regional

Influence of the h TERT rs2736100 polymorphism on telomere length in gastric cancer

AIM: To investigate the functional consequences of rs2736100 polymorphism in telomere length and examine its link to gastric cancer ***: Telomere length and human telomerase reverse transcriptase(h TERT) m RNA expression were measured in 35 gastric cancer tissues and 5 cell lines and correlated to rs2736100 polymorphism. The relationship between rs2736100 polymorphism and the risk of gastric cancer were examined in 243 gastric cancer patients and 246 healthy ***: The rs2736100 A allele carrier is closely associated with reduced h TERT m RNA expression and shortened telomere length in gastric cancer tissue and cell lines. When gastric cancers were stratified by histological subtype,telomere length and h TERT m RNA levels were significantly increased in those with the C/C genotype in intestinal-type gastric cancer,but not in diffuse-type gastric cancer. Interestingly,there was no significant difference in the genotype and allele frequencies of the rs2736100 polymorphism between the patients with gastric cancer and healthy ***: The rs2736100 polymorphism of the h TERT gene is involved in the regulation of h TERT expression and telomere length,but not in the risk of gastric cancer.

Functions of hepatic non-parenchymal cells in alcoholic liver disease

Alcoholic liver disease(ALD)represents a wide spectrum of disease from simple steatosis to *** there have been multiple attempts to treat ALD,its treatment is still based on abstinence from alcohol and using corticosteroids in specified ***,nearly 40%of patients with ALD who are in need of treatment are unresponsive to the current treatments,which implies a new paradigm shift for the treatment of ***,earlier studies have focused on the abnormal metabolism occurring in the hepatocytes as a protagonist in the pathogenesis of ***,increasing evidence suggests that non-parenchymal cells,such as hepatic stellate cells(HSCs),Kupffer cells,liver sinusoidal endothelial cells,and immune cells around the hepatocytes have critical roles in multiple stages of ALD either by direct or indirect cell-to-cell *** instance,in the early stage of ALD,Kupffer cells and HSCs located closely to hepatocytes contribute to the development of alcoholic steatosis and inflammation through the secretion of various inflammatory cytokines(immunologic pathways)and the activation of the endocannabinoid system(metabolic pathways).While the stage of ALD progresses to alcoholic hepatitis and fibrosis,various cell-to-cell interactions with infiltrating immune cells become highly significant at the multicellular *** review explains the diverse roles of non-parenchymal cells in the progression of ALD,as well as potential therapeutic strategies to treat ALD.

YBa2Cu3O7-x(YBCO) films were fabricated on an LAO substrate using the trifluoroacetic acid-metal organic deposition(TFA-MOD) method and the effects of the humidity and heat treatment temperatures on the microstructure,degree of texture and critical properties of the films were *** order to understand the combined effects of the humidity and the calcining and firing temperatures on critical properties,heat-treatment was performed at various temperatures with the other processing variables *** films were calcined at 400-430 ℃ and fired at 750-800 ℃ in a 0-12.1% humidified Ar-O2 *** texture was determined by pole-figure *** amount of the BaF2 phase was effectively reduced and a sharp and strong biaxial texture was formed under a humidified atmosphere,which led to increased critical *** addition,the microstructure varied significantly with firing temperature but changed little with calcining *** highest IC of 40 A/cm-width,which corresponds to JC value of 1.8 MA/cm2,was obtained for the films fired at 775 ℃(in 12.1% humidity) after calcining at 400-430 ℃.It is likely that the highest IC value is due to the formation of a more pure YBCO phase,c-axis grains,and a denser microstructure.

BACKGROUND Cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)leakage at C1/2 in spontaneous intracranial hypotension(SIH)is *** hematoma(SDH),a serious complication of SIH,may lead to neurological *** report presents a case of SDH after spontaneous C1/2 CSF leakage,which was treated with a targeted epidural blood patch(EBP).CASE SUMMARY A 60-year-old man with no history of trauma was admitted to our hospital with orthostatic headache,nausea,and *** computed tomography imaging revealed bilateral,subacute to chronic *** magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)findings were SDH with dural enhancement in the bilateral cerebral convexity and posterior fossa and mild sagging,suggesting *** the patient underwent burr hole trephination,the patient’s orthostatic headache was *** myelography led to a suspicion of CSF leakage at C1/***,we performed a targeted cervical EBP using an epidural catheter under fluoroscopic *** 5 d after EBP,a follow-up MR myelography revealed a decrease in the interval size of the CSF *** his symptoms improved,the patient still complained of headaches;therefore,we repeated the targeted cervical EBP 6 d after the initial ***,his headache had almost disappeared on the 8th day after the repeated *** Targeted EBP is an effective treatment for SDH in patients with SIH due to CSF leakage at C1/2.

Numerical Visualization of Air Intake Induced by Free Surface Vortex

Free surface vortex control is vital in a pump sump system because the air absorbed by free surface vortex induc- es noise, vibration, and cavitation corrosion on the pumping system. In this study, the change of free surface vor- tex and air absorption in a pump intake has been investigated by the Volume of Fraction （VOF） method with steady multiphase flow model in order to represent the behavior of the free surface vortex exactly. The homoge- neous free surface model is used to apply interactions of air and water. The results show that air intake by the free surface vortex motion can be visualized using the iso-surface of air volume fraction. The vortices make an air column from the free surface to the pump intake. Also, it was found that the flee surface vortex can be controlled by installing curtain walls.

AIM:To evaluate the inhibitory effects of Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans(SSM) on cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis(AP) in a mouse ***:SSM water extract(0.1,0.5,or 1 g/kg) was administrated intraperitoneally 1 h prior to the first injection of *** AP developed,the stable cholecystokinin analogue,cerulein was injected hourly,over a 6 h *** samples were taken 6 h later to determine serum amylase,lipase,and cytokine *** pancreas and lungs were rapidly removed for morphological examination,myeloperoxidase assay,and real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain *** specify the role of SSM in pancreatitis,the pancreatic acinar cells were isolated using collagenase *** the cells were pre-treated with SSM,then stimulated with *** cell viability,cytokine productions and high-mobility group box protein-1(HMGB-1) were ***,the regulating mechanisms of SSM action were ***:The administration of SSM significantly attenuated the severity of pancreatitis and pancreatitis associated lung injury,as was shown by the reduction in pancreatic edema,neutrophil infiltration,vacuolization and *** treatment also reduced pancreatic weight/body weight ratio,serum amylase,lipase and cytokine levels,and mRNA expression of multiple inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β.In addition,treatment with SSM inhibited HMGB-1 expression in the pancreas during *** accordance with in vivo data,SSM inhibited the cerulein-induced acinar cell death,cytokine,and HMGB-1 *** also inhibited the activation of c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase,p38 and nuclear factor(NF)-κ***:These results suggest that SSM plays a protective role during the development of AP and pancreatitis associated lung injury via deactivating c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase,p38 and NF-κB.

BACKGROUND A large ganglionic cyst extending from the hip joint to the intrapelvic cavity through the sciatic notch is a rare space-occupying lesion associated with compressive lower-extremity neuropathy.A cyst in the pelvic cavity compressing the intrapelvic-sciatic nerve is easily missed in the diagnostic process because it usually presents as atypical symptoms of an extraperitoneal-intrapelvic *** present a case of a huge ganglionic cyst that was successfully excised laparoscopically and endoscopically by a gynecologist and an orthopedic *** SUMMARY A 52-year-old woman visited our hospital complaining of pain and numbness in her left buttock while *** pain began 3 years ago and worsened,while the numbness in the left lower extremity lasted 1 *** was diagnosed and unsuccessfully treated at several tertiary referral centers many years *** resonance imaging revealed a suspected paralabral cyst(5 cm×5 cm×4.6 cm)in the left hip joint,extending to the pelvic cavity through the greater sciatic *** CA-125 and CA19-9 tumor marker levels were within normal ***,the cyst was compressing the sciatic ***,endoscopic and laparoscopic neural decompression and mass excision were performed simultaneously.A laparoscopic examination revealed a tennis-ball-sized cyst filled with gelatinous liquid,stretching deep into the hip *** excisional biopsy performed in the pelvic cavity and deep gluteal space confirmed the accumulation of ganglionic cysts from the hip joint into the extrapelvic intraperitoneal *** Intra-or extra-sciatic nerve-compressing lesion should be considered in cases of sitting pain radiating down the ipsilateral lower *** large juxta-articular ganglionic cyst was successfully treated simultaneously using laparoscopy and arthroscopy.

Na superionic conductor (NASICON)-type Na3V2(PO4)3 (NVP) has been regarded as a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, NVP suffers from poor cyclability and rate capability because of its intrinsically low electronic conductivity. Herein, we successfully syn thesized N-doped carb on-wrapped Na3V2(PO4)3 (NC@NVP) through the carb on izati on of polydopami ne, which is rich in nitrogen species. The strong adhesion properties of the polydopamine lead to effective and homogeneous wrapping of NVP particles, and it I is further turned into a con ductive N-doped carb on n etwork itself, providi ng facile diffusi on of electr ons and Na+ i ons duri ng battery operation. NC@NVP displays remarkable electrochemical performanee, even under harsh operating conditions, such as a high rate capability (discharge capacity of 70.88, 49.21 mA·h·g^-1 at 50 and 100 C), long-term cycling stability (capacity retention of 94.77% over 1,000 cycles at 20 C), and high-temperature cycling (capacity retention of 92.0% after 500 cycles at 60 ℃).

Uncertainty analysis of flow rate measurement for multiphase flow using CFD

The venturi meter has an advantage in its use,because it can measure flow without being much affected by the type of the measured fluid or flow ***,it has excellent versatility and is being widely applied in many *** flow of a liquid containing air is a representative example of a multiphase flow and exhibits complex flow *** particular,the greater the gas volume fraction（GVF）,the more inhomogeneous the flow *** a result,using a venturi meter to measure the rate of a flow that has a high GVF generates an *** this study,the cause of the error occurred in measuring the flow rate for the multiphase flow when using the venturi meter for analysis by *** ensure the reliability of this study,the accuracy of the multiphase flow models for numerical analysis was verified through comparison between the calculated results of numerical analysis and the experimental *** a result,the Grace model,which is a multiphase flow model established by an experiment with water and air,was confirmed to have the highest ***,the characteristics of the internal flow Held about the multiphase flow analysis result generated by applying the Grace model were analyzed to find the cause of the uncertainty occurring when measuring the flow rate of the multiphase flow using the venturi meter.A phase separation phenomenon occurred due to a density difference of water and air inside the venturi,and flow inhomogeneity happened according to the flow velocity difference of each *** was confirmed that this flow inhomogeneity increased as the GVF increased due to the uncertainty of the flow measurement.
