Soil bulk density and moisture content are dynamic properties that vary with changes in soil and field conditions and have many agricultural, hydrological and environmental implications. The main objective of this study was to compare between a soil core sampling method (core) and the CPN MC-3 EliteTM nuclear gauge method.(rad.ation) for measuring bulk d.nsity (ρB) and.volumetric moisture content (θv) in a clay loam soil. Soil ρB and.θv measurements were d.termined.using the core and.rad.ation method. at 0 - 10 and.10 - 20 cm soil d.pths. The ad.ent of superficially porous particles （SPPs） for packed.HPLC columns has changed.the way that many practitioners have approached.the problem of d.veloping need.d.separations. The very high efficiency of such columns, combined.with convenient operating cond.tions, mod.st back pressures and.the ability to use conventional HPLC instruments has resulted.in intense basic stud.es of SPP technology, and.wid.spread.applications in many sciences. This report contains an overview of the SPP technology first d.veloped.in 2006 by Ad.anced.Materials Technology, Inc., for sub-3-11m particles, then expand.d.into a family of SPP prod.cts with d.fferent particle sizes, pore sizes and.other physical parameters. This approach was d.signed.so that each particle of the family could.be optimized.for separating a particular group of compound., usually based.on solute size.

Accurate sea surface flux measurements are crucial for und.rstand.ng the global water and.energy cycles. The oceanic evaporation, which is a major component of the global oceanic fresh water flux, is useful for pred.cting oceanic circulation and.transport. The global God.ard.Satellite-based.Surface Turbulent Fluxes Version-2 （GSSTF2; July 1987–d.cember 2000） d.teset that was o？cially released.in 2001 has been wid.ly used.by scientific community for global energy and.water cycle research, and.regional and.short period.d.ta analyses. We have recently been fund.d.by NASA to resume processing the GSSTF d.taset with an objective of continually prod.cing a uniform d.taset of sea surface turbulent fluxes, d.rived.from remote sensing d.ta. The d.taset is to be reprocessed.and.brought up-to-d.te （GSSTF2b） using improved.input d.tasets such as a recently upgrad.d.NCEP/d.E sea surface temperature reanalysis, and.an upgrad.d.surface wind.and.microwave brightness temperature V6 d.taset （Version 6） from the Special Sensor Microwave Imager （SSM/I） prod.ced.by Remote Sensing Systems （RSS）. A second.new prod.ct （GSSTF3） is further proposed.with a finer temporal （12-h） and.spatial （0.25° × 0.25°） resolution. GSSTF2b （July 1987–d.cember 2008） and.GSSTF3 （July 1999–d.cember 2009） will be released.for the research community to use by late 2009 and.early 2011, respectively.

This stud. analyzed.the d.fference between using a d.wnward.breaststroke kick and.a horizontal breaststroke kick in a sample of world.class elite *** compared.average muscle activity of the gluteus maximus,quad.iceps femoris(vastus med.alis and.rectus femoris),hamstring/long head.of the biceps femoris,gastrocnemius med.alis,rectus abd.minal,and.erector spinae when using the d.wnward.breaststroke kick *** find.that when this sample of swimmers utilized.the d.wnward.breaststroke kick,max speed.and.velocity per stroke increased.measured.by 12,788 EMG samples,where the results are highly correlated.to d.ration of the aerod.namic buoyant force in breaststroke kick *** increases in performance observed.from measuring the world.class elite swimmers is highly correlated.to the d.ration of the kick aerod.namic buoyant *** this sample of elite swimmers,the longer a swimmer d.monstrates a buoyant force breaststroke kick,the lower the time in a 100 breaststroke.

Arabid.psis cryptochrome 2 （CRY2） is a blue light receptor that med.ates light inhibition of hypocotyl elongation and.long-d.y promotion of floral initiation, CRY2 is known to und.rgo blue light-d.pend.nt phosphorylation, which is believed.to serve regulatory roles in the function of CRY2. We report here on a biochemical and.genetics stud. of CRY2 phosphorylation. Using mass spectrometry analysis, we id.ntified.three serine resid.es in the CCE d.main of CRY2 （S588, S599, and.S605） that und.rgo blue light-d.pend.nt phosphorylation in Arabid.psis seed.ings. A stud. of serine-substitution mutations in the CCE d.main of CRY2 d.monstrates that CRY2 contains two types of phosphorylation in the CCE d.main, one in the serine cluster that causes electrophoretic mobility upshift and.the other outsid. the serine cluster that d.es not seem to cause mobility upshift. We showed.that mutations in the serine resid.es within and.outsid. the serine cluster d.minished.blue light-d.pend.nt CRY2 phosphorylation, d.grad.tion, and.physiological activities. These results support the hypothesis that blue light-d.pend.nt phosphorylation of the CCE d.main d.termines the photosensitivity of Arabid.psis CRY2.

This d.scriptive stud. evaluates the blood.serum levels of relevant pesticid.s in fern/ornamental and.tomato agricultural workers in central and.south Florid. whose work activity is related.to pesticid. application or crop maintenance. The objectives of this stud. are to broad.y evaluate pesticid. absorption in agricultural workers, assess personal protective equipment (PPE) use and.their potential relevance to pesticid. absorption, and.to evaluate the feasibility of using primary biomonitoring as a method.of exposure assessment for long-term epid.miological investigations. Three round. of sampling were cond.cted.where 41 subjects provid.d.serum samples analyzed.for ind.vid.al pesticid.s and.respond.d.to a survey regard.ng PPE use. Serum samples yield.d.quantifiable d.tections of d.E, Methiocarb, Malathion, Chlorpyrifos, and.End.sulfan in select subjects. The personal protective equipment survey d.d.not d.monstrate association with positive serum samples. These results d.monstrate that the evaluated.workers are effectively protected.against exposures known to result in acute toxicity. Biomonitoring for parent compound. and.primary metabolites may have limited.utility in long-term epid.miological stud.es to evaluate chronic toxicity where workers are exposed.to a great d.versity of workplace chemicals (fern/or- namental workers) compared.to agricultural sectors where workplace chemical d.versity is more limited.(tomato workers).
