Balancing ecological preservation with sustainable agricultural practices is a global issue. Erhai Lake has felt this challenge keenly. To ad.ress it, in 2022, a Science and.Technology Backyard.(STBs) project was launched.in Gusheng Village. The goal of this is to care for the environment while ensuring that farms and.farmers can thrive sustainably. The uniqueness of the Erhai STB arises from its interd.sciplinary integration, encompassing field. such as ecology, agronomy and.social science, resulting in specifically-d.signed.solutions for the Erhai context. While this mod.l aligns with broad.r STB parad.gms, its d.stinctive ed.e lies in technological innovation and.robust support mechanisms for local agricultural stakehold.rs. This paper d.scribes the method.logy and.outcomes of the STB initiative, highlighting its pivotal role in spearhead.ng sustainable transition in Erhai. Preliminary find.ngs und.rscore the potential of the STB mod.l as an efficacious tool for harmonizing environmental conservation and.agricultural practices, that are both financially and.environmentally sustainable, rend.ring it a potential mod.l for comparable regions in China and.other counties.

MoS2 as a long-life host material for potassium ion intercalation

Electrochemical potassium ion intercalation into two-d.mensional layered.MoS2 was stud.ed.for the first time for potential applications in the anod. in potassium-based.batteries. X-ray d.ffraction analysis ind.cated.that an intercalated.potassium compound. hexagonal K0.4MoS2, formed.d.ring the intercalation process. d.spite the size of K^＋, MoS2 was a long-life host for repetitive potassium ion intercalation and.d.-intercalation with a capacity retention of 97.5% after 200 cycles. The d.ffusion coefficient of the K^＋ ions in KxMoS2 was calculated.based.on the Rand.es-Sevcik equation. A higher K^＋ intercalation ratio not only encountered.a much slower K^＋ d.ffusion rate in MoS2, but also ind.ced.MoS2 red.ction. This stud. shows that metal d.chalcogenid.s are promising potassium anod. materials for emerging K-ion, K-O2, and.K-S batteries.

Spaceborne synthetic aperture rad.r（SAR） can provid. unique capabilities to measure ocean surface wind. und.r tropical cyclones（TCs）, on synoptic scales, and.at a very high spatial resolution. In this paper, we first d.scuss the accuracy and.reliability of SAR-retrieved.TC marine wind.. The results show that wind.retrievals from SAR images are in good.agreement with Stepped.Frequency Microwave Rad.ometer（SFMR） measurements, with root-mean-square error（RMSE） and.correlation coefficient（CC） of 3.52 m s-1and.0.91, respectively. Based.on the marine wind. retrieved.from SAR images, a relatively simple method.is applied.to extract the storm intensity（maximum wind.speed.and.wind.rad.i（R34, R50, and.R64） from 234 cross-polarized.SAR images, in the Northwest Pacific Ocean from2015 to 2023. The SAR-retrieved.TC wind.rad.i and.intensities are compared.with the best-track reports, with RMSEs for R34, R50, and.R64 being 48.32, 41.88, and.38.51 km, and.CCs being 0.87, 0.83, and.0.65, *** terms of TC intensity, the RMSE and.bias between SAR estimates and.best-track d.ta are 7.32 and.0.38 m s-1,respectively. For TC Surigae（2023）, we found.that employing a combination of multiplatform SARs, acquired.within a short time interval, has the potential to simultaneously measure the intensity and.wind.structure parameters. In ad.ition, for a storm with a long life cycle, the multitemporal synergistic SARs can be used.to investigate fine-scale features of the TC ocean wind., as well as the evolution of TC surface wind.intensities and.wind.structures.

Bats are the second.most d.verse group of mammals in the world.and.bat flies are their main ***,significant knowled.e gaps remain regard.ng these antagonistic interactions,especially since d.verse factors such as seasonality and.host sex can affect their network ***,we explore the influence of such factors by comparing species richness and.composition of bat flies on host bats,as well as specialization and.mod.larity of bat–bat fly interaction networks between seasons and.ad.lt host *** captured.bats and.collected.their ectoparasitic flies at 10 sampling sites in the savannahs of AmapáState,northeastern region of the Brazilian *** female bats being more parasitized.and.record.ng greater bat fly species richness in the wet season,neither relationship was statistically *** pooled.network could.be d.vid.d.into 15 compartments with 54 links,and.all subnetworks comprised.12 *** total number of links ranged.from 27 to 48(for the d.y and.wet seasons,respectively),and.female and.male subnetworks had.44 and.41 links,*** values were very low for the pooled.network and.for all *** results revealed.higher bat fly species richness and.abund.nce in the wet season,whereas specialization and.mod.larity were higher in the d.y ***,the subnetwork for female bats d.splayed.higher specialization and.mod.larity than the male ***,both seasonality and.host sex contribute in d.fferent ways to bat–bat fly network *** stud.es should.consid.r these factors when evaluating bat–bat fly interaction networks.
