Background:Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy(HIE) occurs when an infant’s brain has not received adequate oxygen and blood supply,resulting in ischemic and hypoxic ***,supportive care and hypothermia therapy have been the standard treatment for ***,there are still over 20% of treated infants died and 19-30% survived with significant *** animal model was first established by Vannucci et al,involving the ligation of one common carotid artery followed by *** this study,we investigated human umbilical cord blood(HUCB) and its two components mononuclear cell(MNC) and red cell fraction(RCF) in both short and long term study using a modified HIE rat ***:In this modified HIE model,both common carotid arteries were occluded,breathing 8% oxygen in a hypoxic chamber for 60-minute,followed by the release of the common carotid arteries ligature,mimicking reperfusion *** cell therapeutic study,cells were intravenously injected to HIE rat pups,and both behavioral and histological changes were assessed at selected time ***:statistically significant behavioral improvements were demonstrated on Day 7 and 1 month between saline treated HIE rats and UCB/MNC treated ***,at 3 months,the therapeutic improvements were only showed between saline treated HIE animals and MNC treated HIE *** histological analysis one month after cell injection,the number of functional neurons were statistically increased between saline treated HIE and UCB/MNC/RCF treated HIE *** 3 months,the significant increase in functional neurons was only present in MNC treated HIE ***:We have used a bilateral temporary occlusion of 60 minutes,a moderately brain damaged model,for cell therapeutic *** umbilical cord blood(HUCB) mononuclear cell(MNC) therapy showed benefits in neonatal HIE rats in both short and long term behavioral and histological assessments.

Influence of meteorological factors on open biomass burning at a background site in Northeast China

Biomass burning(BB)is a very important emission source that significantly adversely impacts regional air *** produces a large number of primary organic aerosol(POA)and black carbon(BC).Besides,BB also provides many precursors for secondary organic aerosol(sOA)*** this work,the ratio of levoglucosan(LG)to organic carbon(OC)and the fire hotspots map was used to identify the open biomass burning(OBB)events,which occurred in two representative episodes,October 13 to November 30,2020,and April1 to April 30,*** ratio of organic aerosol(OA)to reconstructed PM_(2.5)concentration(PM_(2.5)^(*))increased with the increase of LG/*** LG/OC ratio is higher than 0.03,the highest OA/PM_(2.5)^(*)ratio can reach 80%,which means the contribution of OBB to OA is *** to the ratio of LG to K^(+),LG to mannosan(MN)and the regional characteristics of Longfengshan,it can be determined that the crop residuals are the main *** occurrence of OBB coincides with farmers’preferred choices,i.e.,burning biomass in“bright weather”.The“bright weather”refers to the meteorological conditions with high temperature,low humidity,and without *** factors indirectly affect regional biomass combustion pollution by influencing farmers’active choices.

Ensemble projections of climate and streamflow in a typical basin of semi-arid steppes in Mongolian Plateau of 2021-2100

The Kherlen River is the main water source for Hulun Lake,the largest lake in northern *** to reduced inflow from the Kherlen River,Hulun Lake experienced rapid shrinkage at the beginning of the 21st century,posing a serious threat to the ecological security of northern ***,there is still a significant lack of projections regarding future climate change and its hydrological response in the Kherlen River *** study analyzed the projected climate and streamflow changes in the Kherlen River basin,a vital yet vulnerable international semi-arid steppes type basin.A combination of multi-model ensemble projection techniques,and the soil and water assessment tool(sWAT)model was employed to examine the spatio-temporal changes in precipitation,temperature,streamflow,and the associated uncertainties in the *** temperature(an increase of 1.84-6.42℃)and the precipitation(an increase of 15.0-46.0 mm)of Kherlen River basin are projected to increase by 2100,leading to a rise in streamflow(1.08-4.78 m^(3) s^(-1)).The upstream of the Kherlen River exhibits remarkable increasing trends in precipitation,which has a dominant influence on streamflow of Kherlen *** increases in streamflow are observed in April,August,september,and October compared to the reference period(1971-2000).These findings suggest a partial alleviation of water scarcity in the Kherlen River,but also an increased likelihood of hydrological extreme *** projected temperature increase in the Kherlen River basin exhibits the smallest uncertainty,while more pronounced uncertainties are found in precipitation and *** spread among the results of CMIP6 models is greater than that of CMIP5 models,with lower signal-to-noise ratio(sNR)values for temperature,precipitation,and streamflow.

Vertebrate neurons are highly dynamic cells that undergo several alterations in their functioning and physiologies in adaptation to various external *** particular,how these neurons respond to physical exercise has long been an area of active *** of the vertebrate locomotor system’s adaptability suggest multiple mechanisms are involved in the regulation of neuronal activity and properties during *** this brief review,we highlight recent results and insights from the field with a focus on the following mechanisms:(a)alterations in neuronal excitability during acute exercise;(b)alterations in neuronal excitability after chronic exercise;(c)exercise-induced changes in neuronal membrane properties via modulation of ion channel activity;(d)exercise-enhanced dendritic plasticity;and(e)exercise-induced alterations in neuronal gene expression and protein *** hope is to update the community with a cellular and molecular understanding of the recent mechanisms underlying the adaptability of the vertebrate locomotor system in response to both acute and chronic physical exercise.

Emergent symmetry in quantum phase transition:From deconfined quantum critical point to gapless quantum spin liquid

The emergence of exotic quantum phenomena in frustrated magnets is rapidly driving the development of quantum many-body physics,raising fundamental questions on the nature of quantum phase *** we unveil the behaviour of emergent symmetry involving two extraordinarily representative phenomena,i.e.,the deconfined quantum critical point(DQCP)and the quantum spin liquid(QsL)*** large-scale tensor network simulations,we study a spatially anisotropic spin-1/2 square-lattice frustrated antiferromagnetic(AFM)model,namely the J1x-J1y-J2 model,which contains anisotropic nearestneighbor couplings J1x,J1y and the next nearest neighbor coupling *** small J1y/J1x,by tuning J2,a direct continuous transition between the AFM and valence bond solid phase is *** growing J1y/J1x,a gapless QsL phase gradually emerges between the AFM and VBs *** observe an emergent O(4)symmetry along the AFM–VBs transition line,which is consistent with the prediction of DQCP *** surprisingly,we find that such an emergent O(4)symmetry holds for the whole QsL–VBs transition line as *** findings reveal the intrinsic relationship between the QsL and DQCP from categorical symmetry point of view,and strongly constrain the quantum field theory description of the QsL *** phase diagram and critical exponents presented in this paper are of direct relevance to future experiments on frustrated magnets and cold atom systems.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a neurodegenerative disease,and the molecular mechanism underlying its pathology remains poorly ***,inflammation is known to play an important role in the development of this *** identify driver genes that affect the inflammatory response in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,as well as potential treatment targets,it is crucial to analyze brain tissue samples from patients with both sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and C9orf72-related amyotrophic lateral ***,in this study we used a network-driven gene analysis tool,NetBID2.0,which is based on sJARACNe,a scalable algorithm for the reconstruction of accurate cellular networks,to experimentally analyze sequencing data from patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral *** results showed that the OsMR gene is pathogenic in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and participates in the progression of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis by mediating the neuroinflammatory ***,there were differences in OsMR activity and expression between patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and those with C9orf72-related amyotrophic lateral *** findings suggest that OsMR may be a diagnostic and prognostic marker for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Exercise-with-melatonin therapy improves sleep disorder and motor dysfunction in a rat model of ischemic stroke

Exercise-with-melatonin therapy has complementary and synergistic effects on spinal cord injury and Alzheimer's disease,but its effect on stroke is still poorly *** this study,we established a rat model of ischemic stroke by occluding the middle cerebral artery for 60 *** treated the rats with exercise and melatonin therapy for 7 consecutive *** showed that exercise-with-melatonin therapy significantly prolonged sleep duration in the model rats,increased delta power values,and regularized delta power ***,exercise-with-melatonin therapy improved coordination,endurance,and grip strength,as well as learning and memory *** the same time,it led to higher hippocampal CA1 neuron activity and postsynaptic density thickness and lower expression of glutamate receptor 2 than did exercise or melatonin therapy *** findings suggest that exercise-withmelatonin therapy can alleviate sleep disorder and motor dysfunction by increasing glutamate receptor 2 protein expression and regulating hippocampal CA1 synaptic plasticity.

Permeable and robust polymer-silica hybrid armor on cell catalyst for sustainable biomanufacturing

Inactivated cell catalysis is one of several central techniques in green biomanufacturing ***,the instability and leakage of enzymes in inactivated cell severely restrict the practical applications of inactivated cell *** armor on the surface of inactivated cells affords a feasible and effective strategy to enhance the stability of cells while commonly lowering the ***,polymer-silica hybrid armor(PsHA)is directly generated on the surface of enzyme-containing *** branched structure of PEI enables higher porosity of cell@PsHA,exhibiting 1.52-fold enhancement in substrate permeability by contrast with cell@silica armor(sA).The electrostatic interactions(NH_(3)^(+)with O^(−))and hydrogen bonding(N⋯H or O⋯H)interactions between structural units enables higher stability of cell@PsHA,showing 3.13-fold elevation in Young's modulus compared with cell@*** a result,the cell@PsHA can catalyze continuous conversion of starch to tagatose for 15 batches over 969 h,with an average yield of 77.76 g L^(−1).

Endosulfan residues and farmers’replacement behaviors of endosulfan in the north-west inland cotton region

We assessed the situation of endosulfan residues in cotton fields after the endosulfan ban came into effect and the current knowledge,attitude,and practice(KAP)of cotton farmers on the phase-out of endosulfan and the application of alternative *** samples(n=91)of cotton fields were collected from the major cotton-producing areas in China,namely the north-west inland cotton region,and the endosulfan residues were analyzed.A KAP survey was carried out for cotton farmers,and 291 questionnaires were *** influences of gender,age,education background,cotton planting years,publicity and training,income sources,and other factors on cotton farmers’KAP were *** results showed that endosulfan sulfate was the main endosulfan residue in the soil,followed byβ-endosulfan andα-endosulfan,the average residual contents were 0.569,0.139,and 0.060μg/kg,*** results of the KAP study showed that cotton farmers scored low on knowledge about the phase-out of endosulfan and the application of alternative technologies but high on attitude and *** number of family members,years of cotton planting,age,and the cottonplanting area had different degrees of influence on KAP *** training could significantly improve the KAP scores of cotton farmers;training should be more targeted and designed reasonably for key groups,such as men and the population under 30,followed by training them to use pesticides *** large-scale cotton growers,training should focus on green prevention and control technologies.
