Peripheral nerve injury(PNI)is a common neurological disorder and complete functional recovery is difficult to *** recent years,bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)have emerged as ideal seed cells for PNI treatment due to their strong differentiation potential and autologous trans-plantation *** review aims to summarize the molecular mechanisms by which BMSCs mediate nerve repair in *** key mechanisms discussed include the differentiation of BMSCs into multiple types of nerve cells to promote repair of nerve *** also create a microenvironment suitable for neuronal survival and regeneration through the secretion of neurotrophic factors,extracellular matrix molecules,and adhesion ***,BMSCs release pro-angiogenic factors to promote the formation of new blood *** modulate cytokine expression and regulate macrophage polarization,leading to ***,BMSCs synthesize and release proteins related to myelin sheath formation and axonal regeneration,thereby promoting neuronal repair and ***,this review explores methods of applying BMSCs in PNI treatment,including direct cell trans-plantation into the injured neural tissue,implantation of BMSCs into nerve conduits providing support,and the application of genetically modified BMSCs,among *** findings confirm the potential of BMSCs in treating ***,with the development of this field,it is crucial to address issues related to BMSC therapy,including establishing standards for extracting,identifying,and cultivating BMSCs,as well as selecting application methods for BMSCs in PNI such as direct transplantation,tissue engineering,and genetic *** these issues will help translate current preclinical research results into clinical practice,providing new and effective treatment strategies for patients with PNI.

Evaluation of the hemolysis and fluid dynamics of a ventricular assist device under the pulsatile flow condition

When the rotary blood pumps are used as ventricular assist devices,the pump flow rate will have a pulsatile component even at a constant impeller rotational speed due to the remaining beating of the natural ***,previous studies on the in vitro hemolysis evaluation of a rotary blood pump have always been conducted under steady states and this pulsation was not taken into *** this study,the hemolysis in a centrifugal blood pump is evaluated under the pulsatile flow condition in *** required time-varying flow rate is obtained by conducting a system simulation of the pump-assisted cardiovascular system,and realized by controlling a pulsation unit in the *** results of our tests indicate a significant increase in hemolysis under the pulsatile flow condition compared with the non-pulsatile *** reveal the flow characteristics responsible for the higher hemolysis,transient computational fluid dynamic simulations are then *** study suggests that traditional hemolysis evaluation under the steady states may not fully represent the hemolytic performance in the clinical *** the ventricular assist pumps at the design stage,eliminating the concern about the extra hemolysis under the pulsatile condition will be helpful for the subsequent in vivo experiments.

Carbon nitride has been extensively used as a visible-light photocatalyst,but it has the disadvantages of a low specific surface area,rapid electron-hole recombination,and relatively low light *** this study,single-atom Ag was successfully anchored on ultrathin carbon nitride(UTCN)via thermal polymerization,the catalyst obtained is called *** Ag hardly changed the carbon nitride's layered and porous physical *** exhibited efficient visible-light photocatalytic performances in the degradation of various recalcitrant pollutants,eliminations of 85% were achieved by visible-light irradiation for *** with Ag improved the photocatalytic performance of UTCN by narrowing the forbidden band gap from 2.49 to 2.36 e V and suppressing electron-hole pair *** addition,Ag doping facilitated O_(2) adsorption on UTCN by decreasing the adsorption energy from -0.2 to -2.22 e V and favored the formation of O_(2)^(·-).Electron spin resonance and radical-quenching experiments showed that O_(2)^(·-)was the major reactive species in the degradation of Acetaminophen(paracetamol,APAP).

AIM:To evaluate dry eye disease(DED)symptomatology and mental health status in different COVID-19 ***:A cross-sectional observational design was *** 123 eligible adults(46.34%of men,age range,18-59y)with COVID-19 included in the study from August to November,*** Surface Disease Index(OSDI),Five-item Dry Eye Questionnaire(DEQ-5),Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS),and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)were used in this ***:OSDI scores were 6.82(1.25,15.91)in asymptomatic carriers,7.35(2.50,18.38)in mild cases,and 16.67(4.43,28.04)in recurrent cases,with 30.00%,35.56%,and 57.89%,respectively evaluated as having DED symptoms(χ2=7.049,P=0.029).DEQ-5 score varied from 2.00(0,6.00)in asymptomatic carriers,3.00(0,8.00)in mild cases,and 8.00(5.00,10.00)in recurrent cases,with 27.50%,33.33%,and 55.26%,respectively assessed as having DED symptoms(χ2=8.532,P=0.014).The prevalence of clinical anxiety(50.00%)and depression(47.37%)symptoms were also significantly higher in patients with recurrent infection(χ2=24.541,P<0.001;χ2=30.871,P<0.001).Recurrent infection was a risk factor for high OSDI scores[odds ratio,2.562;95%confidence interval(CI),1.631-7.979;P=0.033]and DEQ-5 scores(odds ratio,3.353;95%CI,1.038-8.834;P=0.043),whereas having a fixed occupation was a protective factor for OSDI scores(odds ratio,0.088;95%CI,0.022-0.360;P=0.001)and DEQ-5 scores(odds ratio,0.126;95%CI,0.039-0.405;P=0.001).CONCLUSION:Patients with recurrent COVID-19 have more severe symptoms of DED,anxiety,and depression.

Design and performance evaluation of a large field-of-view dual-particle time-encoded imager based on a depth-of-interaction detector

Thirty-day Postoperative Complications following Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty： A Retrospective Study of Incidence and Risk Factors at a Single Center in China

Background： Total knee arthroplasty （TKA） may be associated with serious complications that adversely affect outcomes and increase the likelihood of disability. However, few studies with sufficient sample size have reported postoperative complications following TKAamong Chinese patients. This study aimed to evaluate complications of TKA within 30 postoperative days and to identify the related risk factors. Methods： A retrospective complication-based analysis of TKA using the arthroplasty registry between 2008 and 2013 was performed by summarizing complications of TKA within 30 postoperative days. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify the predicting factors for complications 30 days after operation. Results： A total of 1542 patients underwent 2254 primary TKA between January 2008 and December 2013. A total of 137 complications occurred within 30 days after operation with an incidence rate of 6.1%.The incidence rate of major systemic complications within postoperative 30 days was 2.3%, with cardiovascular and respiratory complications as the most common complications. The incidence rates of deep venous thrombosis （DVT） and local complications were 2.4% and 1.0%, respectively. The 30-day postoperative mortality rate was 0.1% （3/2254）. Multivariate logistic regression analyses identified body mass index （BMI） of ≥30.0 kg/m2 （odds ratio [OR]： 1.47） and age ≥80 years （OR：1.87） as significant risk factors for postoperative systemic complications. A BMI of ≥30.0 kg/m2 was a significant risk factor for DVT （OR：2.86） and other complications （OR： 2.11）. The comorbidity of diabetes was a risk factor for postoperative mortality （OR： 19.20）. Conclusions： This study highlighted complications with cardiac and respiratory origins as the most common complications within 30 postoperative days following primary TKA. The BMI of ≥30.0 kg/m2 and age ≥80 years were significant risk factors for 30-day postoperative complications.

A semi-analytical model for coupled flow in stress-sensitive multi-scale shale reservoirs with fractal characteristics

A large number of nanopores and complex fracture structures in shale reservoirs results in multi-scale flow of oil. With the development of shale oil reservoirs, the permeability of multi-scale media undergoes changes due to stress sensitivity, which plays a crucial role in controlling pressure propagation and oil flow. This paper proposes a multi-scale coupled flow mathematical model of matrix nanopores, induced fractures, and hydraulic fractures. In this model, the micro-scale effects of shale oil flow in fractal nanopores, fractal induced fracture network, and stress sensitivity of multi-scale media are considered. We solved the model iteratively using Pedrosa transform, semi-analytic Segmented Bessel function, Laplace transform. The results of this model exhibit good agreement with the numerical solution and field production data, confirming the high accuracy of the model. As well, the influence of stress sensitivity on permeability, pressure and production is analyzed. It is shown that the permeability and production decrease significantly when induced fractures are weakly supported. Closed induced fractures can inhibit interporosity flow in the stimulated reservoir volume (SRV). It has been shown in sensitivity analysis that hydraulic fractures are beneficial to early production, and induced fractures in SRV are beneficial to middle production. The model can characterize multi-scale flow characteristics of shale oil, providing theoretical guidance for rapid productivity evaluation.
