Epileptic brain network mechanisms and neuroimaging techniques for the brain network

Epilepsy can be defined as a dysfunction of the brain network,and each type of epilepsy involves different brain-network changes that are implicated diffe rently in the control and propagation of interictal or ictal *** more detailed information on brain network alterations can help us to further understand the mechanisms of epilepsy and pave the way for brain network-based precise therapeutic approaches in clinical *** increasing number of advanced neuroimaging techniques and electrophysiological techniques such as diffusion tensor imaging-based fiber tra ctography,diffusion kurtosis imaging-based fiber tractography,fiber ball imagingbased tra ctography,electroencephalography,functional magnetic resonance imaging,magnetoencephalography,positron emission tomography,molecular imaging,and functional ultrasound imaging have been extensively used to delineate epileptic *** this review,we summarize the relevant neuroimaging and neuroelectrophysiological techniques for assessing structural and functional brain networks in patients with epilepsy,and extensively analyze the imaging mechanisms,advantages,limitations,and clinical application ranges of each technique.A greater focus on emerging advanced technologies,new data analysis software,a combination of multiple techniques,and the construction of personalized virtual epilepsy models can provide a theoretical basis to better understand the brain network mechanisms of epilepsy and make surgical decisions.

Symmetry restoring dynamics in a two-species bosonic Josephson junction by using occasional coupling

In this paper,by employing an occasionally coupling scheme in a two-species bosonic Josephson junction,it is found that for nonlocal measure synchronized states appearing in the two dynamic modes,known as 0-phase mode andπphase mode,their broken-symmetry can be ***,there are dramatic differences for the *** 0-phase mode,we can restore the broken symmetry by turning the nonlocal MS state into a conventional quasiperiodic MS ***,for theπ-phase mode,the broken symmetry is restored accompanied by the appearance of chaotic MS states.

Marine Redox Conditions in the Early Cambrian Ocean: Insights from the Lower Cambrian Phosphorite Deposits, South China

It is generally considered that a significant change in oceanic redox conditions occurred during the Ediacaran-Cambrian transition. However, there are currently two major conflicting views on the degree of oxygenation of deep water（oxic vs. ferruginous） during this interval. To date, the oxygenation conditions of the Early Cambrian ocean have not been well constrained. The oxygenation magnitude and mechanism of the Early Cambrian ocean could be critical to the significant biological evolution of the ＂Cambrian Explosion＂. To constrain the Early Cambrian oceanic redox environment, we conducted an integrated study on iron and sulfur isotopes and redox-sensitive elements（Mo, U, and V） of Lower Cambrian phosphorite deposits from two shallow sections（Meishucun and Gezhongwu） and a deeper water section（Zunyi） from the Yangtze Platform, South China. The near zero δ^（56）Fe values from the two shallow sections studied here reflect oxic conditions in the lower phosphorite deposition. An obvious positive shift in δ^（56）Fe and redox-sensitive element content was observed in the middle parts of the two shallow water sections, which might reflect loss of light iron by dissimilatory iron reduction during early diagenesis under suboxic shallow water in the platform. However, the highly positive δ^（56）Fe values in the deep section could reflect a lower oxidation degree of dissolved Fe（II） under anoxic deep water. The data suggest redox-stratified oceanic conditions during the Early Cambrian, in which completely oxygenated shallow water（platform） coexisted with anoxic deep water（slope）. We propose that prolonged upwelling of dissolved organic carbon（DOC）-, Fe（II）- and phosphorus-rich anoxic deep water in a redox-stratified ocean could have increased exchange with the open ocean, resulting in major phosphorite deposition in oxic-suboxic conditions. The progressive oxygenation of the ocean may have facilitated the Early Cambrian biotic diversification.

Associative Tasks Computing Offloading Scheme in Internet of Medical Things with Deep Reinforcement Learning

The Internet of Medical Things(Io MT) is regarded as a critical technology for intelligent healthcare in the foreseeable 6G era. Nevertheless, due to the limited computing power capability of edge devices and task-related coupling relationships, Io MT faces unprecedented challenges. Considering the associative connections among tasks, this paper proposes a computing offloading policy for multiple-user devices(UDs) considering device-to-device(D2D) communication and a multi-access edge computing(MEC)technique under the scenario of Io MT. Specifically,to minimize the total delay and energy consumption concerning the requirement of Io MT, we first analyze and model the detailed local execution, MEC execution, D2D execution, and associated tasks offloading exchange model. Consequently, the associated tasks’ offloading scheme of multi-UDs is formulated as a mixed-integer nonconvex optimization problem. Considering the advantages of deep reinforcement learning(DRL) in processing tasks related to coupling relationships, a Double DQN based associative tasks computing offloading(DDATO) algorithm is then proposed to obtain the optimal solution, which can make the best offloading decision under the condition that tasks of UDs are associative. Furthermore, to reduce the complexity of the DDATO algorithm, the cacheaided procedure is intentionally introduced before the data training process. This avoids redundant offloading and computing procedures concerning tasks that previously have already been cached by other UDs. In addition, we use a dynamic ε-greedy strategy in the action selection section of the algorithm, thus preventing the algorithm from falling into a locally optimal solution. Simulation results demonstrate that compared with other existing methods for associative task models concerning different structures in the Io MT network, the proposed algorithm can lower the total cost more effectively and efficiently while also providing a tradeoff between delay and energy co

Efficacy of Intragastric Balloons in the Markers of Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Fatty Liver Disease:Results from Meta-analyses

Background and Aims:Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease,now renamed metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD),is common in obese *** balloon(IGB),an obesity management tool with low complication risk,might be used in MAFLD treatment but there is still unexplained heterogeneity in results across ***:We conducted a systematic search of 152 citations published up to September ***-analyses,stratified analyses,and meta-regression were performed to evaluate the efficacy of IGB on homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase(GGT),and to identify patients most appropriate for IGB ***:Thirteen observational studies and one randomized controlled trial met the inclusion criteria(624 participants in total).In the overall estimate,IGB therapy significantly improved the serum markers change from baseline to follow-up[HOMA-IR:1.56,95%confidence interval(CI)=1.16–1.95;ALT:11.53 U/L,95%CI=7.10–15.96;AST:6.79 U/L,95%CI=1.69–11.90;GGT:10.54 U/L,95%CI=6.32–14.75].In the stratified analysis,there were trends among participants with advanced age having less change in HOMA-IR(1.07 vs.1.82).The improvement of insulin resistance and liver biochemistries with swallowable IGB therapy was no worse than that with endoscopic *** meta-regression analyses showed that greater HOMA-IR loss was predicted by younger age(p=0.0107).Furthermore,effectiveness on ALT and GGT was predicted by basal ALT(p=0.0004)and GGT(p=0.0026),***:IGB is effective among the serum markers of *** patients had a greater decrease of HOMA-IR after IGB therapy.

The Environment and Disaster Reduction Satellite Constellation is a small satellite constellation developed by China for disaster *** two primary optical satellites,HJ-A and HJ-B,were successfully launched in September *** satellites carry a charge-coupled device,hyperspectral imager,and infrared scanner,and have the capability for wide coverage and rapid revisits in disaster reduction *** scheduled to be launched is the HJ-C,which will carry synthetic aperture radar and have the ability to provide allweather observations at any time.A follow-up‘44’satellite constellation including four optical satellites and four radar satellites is in the works,to achieve the capability of quantitative,all-weather,all-time disaster forecasting,monitoring and *** corresponding disaster reduction application system has a series of functions including remote sensing data processing,disaster monitoring and assessment,decision support,and user service and information distribution,which serves the whole process of disaster *** its construction has been carried out,the system has successfully dealt with several huge domestic and international natural disasters,and effectively improved scientific decision *** follow-up system’s construction will integrate,update,and extend the original system to fulfill large-scale,quantitative,allweather disaster operation application needs.

We introduce the new concept of coherent-entangled state （CES）. By virtue of the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators we introduce a new kind of three-mode CES [β,γ,x）, which exhibits both properties of the coherent state and the entangled state. [β,γ,x） makes up a new quantum mechancial representation. Its applications in quantum optics are also presented.

Two new diterpenoid lactones isolated from Andrographis paniculata

In the present study, two new diterpenoid lactones, 3-deoxy-andrographoside(1) and 14-deoxy-15-methoxy-andrographolide(2), were isolated from the aerial parts of Andrographis paniculata. Their structures were elucidated by combination of NMR, MS, and chemical methods. The configurations of 1 and 2 were established based on the analysis of ROESY data and single crystal X-ray diffraction experiment.

Insights into bishemicyanines with long emission wavelengths and high sensitivity in viscous environments

A systematic spectral analysis was presented for bishemicyanine dyes(Hsd and D2)and monohemicyanine dyes(Hs and DSMI).The bishemicyanine dyes displayed long emission wavelengths,large Stokes shifts,low background quantum yields in aqueous solutions and high sensitivity in viscous *** understanding of the structure-property relationships could benefit the design of improved *** studies on these dyes revealed the three conjugated forms of bishemicyanines are in equilibrium due to two positive charges and a branched bulk *** possessed obviously lower rotating energy barrier of C-C bond rotation compared to the monohemicyanine ***,the synergetic effects of the rotation about theφ4 bond,φ5 bond andφ7 bond of the bishemicyanines(Hsd and D2)lead to lower fluorescence quantum yields in a free state and larger fluorescence quantum yield enhancements in viscous environment compared to that of monohemicyanine dyes(Hs and DSMI).The results demonstrate a foundation for interpretation of the behavior of the dyes,thus providing guidelines for future of new bishemicyanine fluorophores with specific applications.

Getting to the Bottom Morphology of Block Copolymer Thin Films

We demonstrate a general approach for attaining the bottom morphology of block copolymer（BCP） thin films. In our former measurements on PS-b-PMMA films, surface morphology maps of the BCP films revealed distinct ordering regimes where the cylinders orient predominantly perpendicular or parallel to the interface and an ‘intermediate＇ regime where these morphologies coexist. However, this earlier work did not explore the bottom morphology of BCP thin films. In this study, we investigated the block copolymer morphology near the solid substrate in the cast block copolymer film having a perpendicular cylinder morphology on the surface.
