Broadband and perfect terahertz absorber based on multilayer metamaterial using cross-ring patterned structures is proposed and *** structure of the absorber is double absorption layers consisting of a chromium cross ring and eight isosceles right *** unique structure of the double absorbing layers excites the electric dipole multimode resonance,giving rise to high absorption ***,the influence of construal parameters on absorber behavior is also *** numerical results show that the absorption achieves over 90%ranging from 2.45 THz to 6.25 THz and 99%absorption in the range of 3.7—5.3 *** realization of broadband and perfect absorber is described using the impedance matching *** is obviously found that the absorber is insensitive to the high angle of incidence for both transverse electric(TE)and transverse magnetic(TM)*** with the former reports,this absorber has remarkable improved absorption efficiency and smaller *** terahertz absorber may be found applications in the fields of energy capture and thermal detection.

Experimental studies have shown that exercise and human adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs)play positive roles in spinal cord injury(SCI).However,whether ADSCs and/or exercise have a positive effect on SCI-induced neuropathic pain is still ***,there is a need to explore the effects of exercise combined with administration of ADSCs on neuropathic pain after *** this study,a thoracic 11(T11)SCI contusion model was established in adult C57BL/6 *** was initiated from 7 days post-injury and continued to 28 days post-injury,and approximately 1×105 ADSCs were transplanted into the T11 spinal cord lesion site immediately after *** function and neuropathic pain-related behaviors were assessed weekly using the Basso Mouse Scale,von Frey filament test,Hargreaves method,and cold plate *** studies(Eriochrome cyanine staining and immunohistochemistry)were performed at the end of the experiment(28 days post-injury).Exercise combined with administration of ADSCs partially improved early motor function(7,14,and 21 days postinjury),mechanical allodynia,mechanical hypoalgesia,thermal hyperalgesia,and thermal *** of ADSCs reduced white and gray matter loss at the lesion *** addition,fewer microglia and astrocytes(as identified by expression of ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 and glial fibrillary acidic protein,respectively)were present in the lumbar dorsal horn in the SCI+ADSCs and SCI+exercise+ADSCs groups compared with the sham *** findings suggest that exercise combined with administration of ADSCs is beneficial for the early recovery of motor function and could partially ameliorate SCIinduced neuropathic pain.

To develop beam splitters for soft X-ray laser Michelson interferometer at 13.9 nm, Mo/Si multilayers of 100 nm thickness deposited on both sides of silicon nitride were fabricated by using DC magnetron sputtering. Initial evaluation of their reflectivity and transmission showed that reflectivity and transmission were above 10% and 25%. The broadband analyzers have been designed, fabricated and characterized for 13～20 nm polarization measurements. The measured results are in good agreement with the design. The supermirrors with different angular intervals at 0.154 nm have been designed, fabricated and characterized.

The increase in the utilization of infrared heat detection technology in military applications necessitates research on composites with improved thermal transmission performance and microwave absorption *** study satisfactorily fabricated a series of MoS_(2)/BN-xyz composites(which were characterized by the weight ratio of MoS_(2)to BN,denoted by xy:z)through chemical vapor depos-ition,which resulted in their improved thermal stability and thermal transmission *** results show that the remaining mass of MoS_(2)/BN-101 was as high as 69.25wt%at 800℃under air atmosphere,and a temperature difference of 31.7℃was maintained between the surface temperature and the heating source at a heating temperature of 200℃.Furthermore,MoS_(2)/BN-301 exhibited an im-pressive minimum reflection loss value of-32.21 dB at 4.0 mm and a wide effective attenuation bandwidth ranging from 9.32 to 18.00 GHz(8.68 GHz).Therefore,these simplified synthesized MoS_(2)/BN-xyz composites demonstrate great potential as highly efficient con-tenders for the enhancement of microwave absorption performance and thermal conductance.

BACKGROUND Stoma creation is a common procedure in colorectal cancer surgery,however,stoma-related complications remain a significant *** To investigate the incidence,types,and risk factors of stoma-related complications in colorectal cancer patients who underwent stoma *** Patients with stoma was prospectively recorded in the established stoma *** was collected from this stoma management system from November 2021 through May *** rates of stoma-related complications were assessed,and potential risk factors were analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression *** A total of 734 patients were included in the *** results showed that 12.3%of patients experienced stoma-related complications,with mucocutaneous separation,edema,and skin excoriation being the most common *** majority(90%)of complications were classified as grade 2 according to the Clavien-Dindo *** factors,such as blood loss volume greater than 500 mL and open surgery,were significantly associated with stoma ***,stoma features like location,shape,color,height,and edema were important factors in the association with *** mass index over 30 kg/m²was also found to be a significant risk *** These findings highlight the need for a holistic approach to preventing and managing stoma complications,considering both patient-related and surgical factors.

Inclusive fitness theory posits that altruistic behaviors, which are directed more likely towards relatives, should be favored by natural selection. However, the prevalence of alternative parenting behaviors in offspring selection, including rejecting their own offspring and accepting the offspring of others, remains poorly understood within the context of parental care evolution. In order to investigate the factors that prompt the occurrence of alternative parenting behaviors, we designed a series of experiments in the Azure-winged Magpie (Cyanopica cyanus). By manipulating the nest spatial position or offspring age/number and parent-offspring familiarity, we addressed how parents provided parental care for the manipulated offspring. In the nest resettlement experiment, the probability of parents rejecting their own offspring significantly increased with nest-moving distances while decreased with offspring ages. In the cross-fostering experiments, the probability of parents provisioning unrelated young significantly decreased with the age difference between cross-fostered chicks. In the nest duplication experiments, where parents were given a choice between familiar offspring and unfamiliar unrelated chicks or between unfamiliar offspring and familiar unrelated chicks, the probability of both alternative parenting behaviors was significantly influenced by the time when parental association with their offspring was deprived. We conclude that as offspring phenotypic traits become individualized and fixed at a special developmental stage, parents gradually acquire the capacity for offspring recognition by associating with them. Any factors that disrupt parent-offspring association or introduce unrelated young into the nest prior to this critical timeline can result in the occurrence of alternative parenting behaviors.

Numerical simulations of the flow and heat transfer characteristics of four shell-and-tube molten salt electric heaters with different perforation rates was ***-and-tube electric heaters have the same geometry and tube arrangement,and all of them use single segmental baffles,but there exist four different baffle openings(φ),i.e.,0%,2.52%,4.06%,and 6.31%.The results indicated that the reasonable baffle opening could significantly reduce the shell-side pressure drop,effectively decreasing the shell-side flow dead zone *** can eliminate the local high-temperature phenomenon on the surface of electric heating tubes,but the heat transfer coefficient is slightly *** perforated schemes significantly reduce shell-side pressure drop compared to the baseline solution without open *** particular,the φ=6.31% scheme exhibits the optimal performance among all the schemes,with a maximum reduction of up to 50.50% in shell-side pressure drop relative to the unopened holes *** heat transfer coefficient is the highest for φ=0%,exhibiting a range of5.26% to 5.73%,5.14% to 5.99%,and 7.31% to 8.54% higher than φ=2.52%,4.06%,and 6.31%,respectively,within the calculated *** composite index h/(Δp)^(1/3)was higher for all open-hole solutions than that for the unopened-hole *** best overall performance was for φ=6.31%,which improved the composite index by15.29%to 17.18%over the unopened-hole solution.

The distribution of digits in numbers obtained from different sources reveals interesting patterns. The well-known Benford's law states that the first digits in many real-life numerical data sets have an asymmetric, logarithmic distribution in which small digits are more common;this asymmetry diminishes for subsequent digits, and the last digit tends to be uniformly distributed. In this paper, we investigate the digit distribution of numbers in a large mobile transaction data set with 835 million mobile transactions and payments made by approximately 460,000 users in more than 300 cities. Although the first digits of the numbers in these mobile transactions follow Benford's law, the last digit has a strong tendency to be a lucky number or be influenced by psychological rounding. This lucky number tendency is more significant in transactions that are more strongly connected to social interactions, such as money sent as gifts or as “red envelopes” (a traditional method of gift-giving during Chinese holidays), and in transactions by individuals with potentially greater emotional needs, such as during COVID-19 outbreaks and natural disasters. This psychological rounding tendency is more common in online e-commerce payments, in-store purchases, and money transfers between individuals. These findings are key for understanding the last digit tendency and its psychological and emotional mechanisms, which could be used as an indicator of public sentiment or in methods of detecting fraudulent business activity. © 2023
