Estimating cropland carbon mitigation potentials in China affected by three improved cropland practices

Agriculture is a large source of carbon emissions. The cropland practices of fertilizer substitution, crop straw and conservation tillage are beneficial and help to rebuild local soil carbon stocks and reduce soil carbon emissions, in addition to reducing the consumption of fertilizers and fossil fuels. These improved cropland practices can directly and indirectly mitigatecarbon emissions, benefiting the sustainability of croplands. For these three improved practices, we estimated carbon mitigation potentials in rice, wheat and maize croplands in China. The combined contribution of these practices to carbon mitigation was 38.8 Tg C yr-1, with fertilizer substitution, crop straw return, and conservation tillage contributing 26.6, 3.6 and 8.6 Tg C yr-1, respectively. Rice, wheat and maize croplands had potentials to mitigate 13.4, 11.9 and 15.5 Tg C yr-1, respectively, with the combined direct and indirectpotential of 33.8 and 5.0 Tg C yr-1. Because of differences in local climate and specific diets, the regional cropland carbon mitigation potentials differed greatly among provinces in China. In China, 18 provinces had a "target surplus" for which the carbon mitigation from these three practices was larger than the mitigation target set for 2020. At the national level, a net "target surplus"of 4.84 Tg C yr-1 would be attained for Chinese croplands with full implementation of the three improved practices. Regional cooperation must be developed to achieve carbon mitigation targets using such measures as carbon trading, establishing regional associations, and strengthening research programs to improve practices.

Research on the mechanical fault diagnosis method based on sound signal and IEMD-DDCNN

Purpose–The purpose of this paper is to provide a shorter time cost,high-accuracy fault diagnosis method for water *** pumps are widely used in industrial equipment and their fault diagnosis is gaining increasing *** the time-consuming empirical mode decomposition(EMD)method and the more efficient classification provided by the convolutional neural network(CNN)method,a novel classification method based on incomplete empirical mode decomposition(IEMD)and dual-input dual-channel convolutional neural network(DDCNN)composite data is proposed and applied to the fault diagnosis of water ***/methodology/approach–This paper proposes a data preprocessing method using IEMD combined with mel-frequency cepstrum coefficient(MFCC)and a neural network model of ***,the sound signal is decomposed by IEMD to get numerous intrinsic mode functions(IMFs)and a residual(RES).Several IMFs and one RES are then extracted by MFCC ***,the obtained features are split into two channels(IMFs one channel;RES one channel)and input into ***–The Sound Dataset for Malfunctioning Industrial Machine Investigation and Inspection(MIMII dataset)is used to verify the practicability of the *** results show that decomposition into an IMF is optimal when taking into account the real-time and accuracy of the *** with EMD,51.52% of data preprocessing time,67.25% of network training time and 63.7%of test time are saved and also improve *** limitations/implications–This method can achieve higher accuracy in fault diagnosis with a shorter time ***,the fault diagnosis of equipment based on the sound signal in the factory has certain feasibility and research ***/value–This method provides a feasible method for mechanical fault diagnosis based on sound signals in industrial applications.

Study on serum cytokine levels in posttraumatic stress disorder patients

Objective:To evaluate serum IL-2,IL-4,***-8,TL-10 and TNF-αlevels in posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) ***:We utilized ELISA technology to examine cytokines such as IL-2,***-8,IL-10 and TNF-αin serum from 50 well-characterized individuals with a primary DSM-1V PTSD diagnosis,and 50 age- and gender-matched healthy *** conservatively employed a Mann-Whitney U ***:Individuals with primary PTSD had significantly elevated peripheral cytokine levels for all 6 different cytokines compared to age- and gender-matched healthy controls(allP<0.01).Conclusions:These findings suggest that a generalized inflammatory state may be present in individuals with PTSD.

BACKGROUND Condylar osteophytes,a remodeling form of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis(TMJ OA),mainly manifest as marginal angular outgrowths of the *** researchers have advocated surgical removal of condylar *** on the effect of occlusal splint on TMJ OA patients’joints have mostly focused on treatment with this splint,which can reduce the absorption of the affected condyle and promote repair and ***,the effect of the splint on the dissolution of condylar osteophytes has not yet been *** SUMMARY A 68-year-old female patient suffered from occlusal discomfort with left facial pain for 2 *** beam computed tomography showed a rare osteophyte on top of her left *** was finally diagnosed with TMJ *** patient refused surgical treatment and received conservative treatment with a muscle balance occlusal *** pain experienced by the patient on the left side of her face was relieved,and her chewing ability recovered after *** osteophyte dissolved,and the condylar cortex remained stable during long-term follow-up *** The muscle balance occlusal splint could be a noninvasive means of treating condylar osteophytes in TMJ OA patients.

Prediction of Impacts Caused by South-to-North Water Diversion on Underground Water Level in Shijiazhuang

after implementation of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project which has attracted worldwide attentions, new surface water sources would be added and, accordingly,mining of groundwater for industrial and living water would be reduced to ease the mining pressure of the underground water and abate the decline of the water level in the depression centers of Shijiazhuang and the whole intake area. Numerical model was established in this paper to respectively calculate the underground water level in 2020 based on three schemes including mining status of underground water, urban water resource planning of South-toNorth water diversion in Shijiazhuang and Hutuo River infiltration with artificial regulation and storage. It is estimated that after implementation of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, the buried depth of groundwater of depression centers in Shijiazhuang in 2020 will increase by 28.5~41.09 m comparing with that without water supply through South-to-North water diversion.

Multifunctional neurosynaptic devices for human perception systems

The traditional Von Neumann architecture for processing information is difficult to meet the needs of the big data era, while low-power, small-sized neurosynaptic devices can operate and store information, so that they have received extensive attention. Due to the development of artificial intelligence and robotics, neurosynaptic devices have been given high expectations and requirements. The trend of functionalization, intelligence, and integration of computing and storage is obvious. In this review, the basic principles and types of neurosynaptic devices are summarized, the achievements of neurosynaptic devices for human perception systems are discussed and a prospect on the development trend is also given.

A variety of nano-engineered photosensitizers have been developed for photodynamic therapy(PDT)of cancer diseases. However, traditional nano-engineering methods usually cannot avoid drug leakage and premature release, and have disadvantages such as low drug load and inaccurate *** self-assembly strategy based on amphiphilic peptides has been considered to be more attractive nano-engineering method. Here we developed novel acid-activatable self-assembled nanophotosensitizers based on an amphiphilic peptide derivative. The peptide derivative was synthesized from a fluorescein molecule with thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF). The self-assembled nanophotosensitizers can specifically enter the tumor cells and disassemble inside lysosomes companied with “turn-on” fluorescence and photodynamic therapy effect. Such smart nanophotosensitizers will open new opportunities for cancer theranostics.

Characterization and Infrared Stealthy Properties of Two Schiff-base Compounds Derived from 1-Amino-2-hydroxypropane and Their Complexes

Single crystals of two Schiff base compounds 1 and 2 derived from 1-amino-2-hydroxypropane were obtained via condensation reaction of an amine and a reactive carbonyl group. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1(C(10)H(13)NO2) crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21 with a = 4.487(9), b = 10.913(2), c = 9.886(19) ?, β = 97.823(3)o, V = 479.59(16) ?~3, Z = 2, Mr = 179.21, Dc = 1.241 g/cm^3, F(000) = 192, GOOF = 1.005, μ = 0.087 mm^(-1), the final R = 0.0328 and wR = 0.0738 for 1721 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). Compound 2(C(14)H(20)N2O2) crystallizes in orthorhombic system, space group Pbca with a = 6.295(2), b = 7.290(3), c = 30.519(11) ?, V = 1400.5(9)?~3, Z = 8, Mr = 248.32, Dc = 1.178 g/cm^3, F(000) = 536, GOOF = 1.125, μ = 0.079 mm^(-1), the final R = 0.0871 and w R = 0.1748 for 1307 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). Compound 1 exhibits a 3D supramolecular structure and compound 2 show a 3D supramolecular structure under hydrogen bonding interactions. Furthermore, the infrared stealthy performance of two Schiff base compounds and their Fe(Ⅲ) complexes were studied. The results show that their Fe(Ⅲ) complexes show lower infrared emissivity than corresponding Schiff base compounds, and the lowest infrared emissivity reaches to 0.657.
