^(18)F-FDG PET/CT in differentiating malignant from benign origins of obstructive jaundice

BACKGROUND： The various origins of obstructive jaundice make the diagnosis of the disease difficult. This study was undertaken to evaluate the role of 18F-FDG PET/CT in differentiating malignant from benign origins of obstructive jaundice and to quantify the added value of 18F-FDG PET/CT over conventional imaging（enhanced CT and/or MRI）.METHODS： Eighty-five patients with obstructive jaundice who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT within 2 weeks after enhanced CT and/or MRI were reviewed retrospectively. All 18F-FDG PET/CT images were independently evaluated by 2 nuclear medicine physicians who were unaware of other imaging data; differences were resolved by consensus of the physicians. All conventional imaging interpretations, according to the medical records, were reviewed by 2 radiologists to determine the potential value. Final diagnoses were based on histological or surgical ***： Sixty-six patients were diagnosed with malignancies, and 19 patients with benign lesions. The maximum standardized uptake values for malignant and benign lesions causing biliary obstruction were 8.2±4.4 and 4.0±5.0, respectively（P〈0.05）. The sensitivity, specificity, and overall accuracy for differentiating malignant from benign origins with 18F-FDG PET/CT were 86.4%（57/66）, 73.7%（14/19）, and 83.5%（71/85）, respectively. 18F-FDG PET/CT in conjunction with conventional imaging changed the sensitivity, specificity, and overall accuracy of conventional imaging alone from 75.8%（50/66） to 95.5%（63/66）（P〈0.05）, 68.4%（13/19） to 57.9%（11/19）（P〉0.05）, and 74.1%（63/85） to 87.1%（74/85）（P〈0.05）, ***： 18F-FDG PET/CT is of great value in differentiating malignant from benign origins of obstructive jaundice and is a useful adjuvant to conventional imaging. 18F-FDG PET/CT should be recommended for further etiological clarification.

Low glucose metabolism in hepatocellular carcinoma with GPC3 expression

AIM To investigate the relationship between glucose metabolism and glypican-3(GPc3)expression in hepatocellular carcinoma(Hcc).METHODSImmunohistochemical staining of pathological samples for GPc3 and glucose transporter 1(GLUT1),and whole-body ^(18)F-FDG PET/c T for measuring tumour glucose uptake were performed in 55 newly diagnosed Hcc *** maximum standard uptake value(s UVmax)and tumour-to-non-tumourous liver uptake(T/NT)ratio were used to quantify ^(18)F-FDG *** vitro ^(18)F-FDG uptake assay of GPc3-expressing Hep G2 and non-GPc3-expressing RH7777 cel ls was used to examine the effect of GPc3 in cellular glucose *** relationships between GPc3 expression and ^(18)F-FDG uptake,GLUT1 expression,tumour differentiation,and other clinical indicators were analysed using spearman rank correlation,univariateand multiple logistic regression *** GPc3 expression was observed in 67.3%of Hcc patients,including 75.0%of those with well or moderately differentiated Hcc and 36.4%of those with poorly differentiated *** was an inverse relationship between GPc3 expression and s UVmax(Spearman correlation coefficient=-0.281,P=0.038)and a positive relationship between GLUT1 expression and sU Vmax(Spearman correlation coefficient=0.681,P0.05).Further multivariate analysis revealed that only the T/N ratio was significantly correlated with GPC3 expression in patients with Hcc(P<0.05).In vitro assay revealed that the uptake of ^(18)F-FDG in GPc3-expressing HepG2 cells was significantly lower than that of non-GPc3-expressing RH7777 cells(t=-20.352,P<0.001).CONCLUSIONThe pres

Dear Editor,This letter studies the bipartite consensus tracking problem for heterogeneous multi-agent systems with actuator faults and a leader's unknown time-varying control input. To handle such a problem, the continuous fault-tolerant control protocol via observer design is developed. In addition, it is strictly proved that the multi-agent system driven by the designed controllers can still achieve bipartite consensus tracking after faults occur.

Exploring the effects of perception factors on evacuation intentions of residents

The evacuation of people under threat is an effective disaster prevention and mitigation measure in response to flash floods and geological hazards,and it is also an essential element of pre-disaster ***,the effect of the interactions between perception factors on residents'willingness to evacuate is an urgent problem to be ***,this paper introduces risk,stakeholder,and protective action perceptions from the protective action decision model as the main explanatory *** three core perceptions are subdivided into affective risk perception,cognitive risk perception,government perception,other-stakeholder perception,resourcerelated attributes,and hazard-related attributes.A questionnaire survey was conducted from June to July 2023 among residents of mountainous communities in nine villages in three towns in Sichuan Province,China.359 cross-sectional data were analyzed using structural equation modeling to explore the effects of six perception factors on evacuation *** results of the study showed that:(1)affective risk perception,government perception,other-stakeholder perception,and hazard-related attributes all directly and positively influence residents'intentions to evacuate;(2)cognitive risk perception is mediated by stakeholder and protective action perceptions,which indirectly and positively affect residents'intentions to *** on the hypothesized paths,strategies to improve residents'willingness to evacuate are discussed from the perspective of three core perceptions:strengthening disaster risk education,improving residents'cohesion,and building government *** results of this study can provide theoretical support and practical suggestions for emergency management departments to formulate emergency evacuation strategies,which can aid decision-makers in better understanding residents'intentions to evacuate,optimizing evacuation information dissemination pathways,and strengthening disaster risk man

Quantum metrology with optimal control under an arbitrary non-Markovian bosonic environment

Finding the optimal control is of importance to quantum metrology under a noisy *** this paper, we tackle the problem of finding the optimal control to enhance the performance of quantum metrology under an arbitrary non-Markovian bosonic environment. By introducing an equivalent pseudomode model, the non-Markovian dynamic evolution is reduced to a Lindblad master equation, which helps us to calculate the gradient of quantum Fisher information and perform the gradient ascent algorithm to find the optimal control. Our approach is accurate and circumvents the need for the Born–Markovian approximation. As an example, we consider the frequency estimation of a spin with pure dephasing under two types of non-Markovian environments. By maximizing the quantum Fisher information at a fixed evolution time, we obtain the optimal multi-axis control, which results in a notable enhancement in quantum metrology. The advantage of our method lies in its applicability to the arbitrary non-Markovian bosonic environment.

Dual atomic catalysts(DAC),particularly copper(Cu_(2))-based nitrogen(N)doped graphene,show great potential to effectively convert CO_(2)and nitrate(NO_(3)-)into important industrial chemicals such as ethylene,glycol,acetamide,and urea through an efficient catalytical process that involves C–C and C–N ***,the origin of the coupling activity remained unclear,which substantially hinders the rational design of Cu-based catalysts for the N-integrated CO_(2)reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR).To address this challenge,this work performed advanced density functional theory calculations incorporating explicit solvation based on a Cu_(2)-based N-doped carbon(Cu_(2)N_(6)C_(10))catalyst for CO_(2)*** calculations are aimed to gain insight into the reaction mechanisms for the synthesis of ethylene,acetamide,and urea via coupling in the interfacial reaction *** to the sluggishness of CO_(2),the formation of a solvation electric layer by anions(F^(-),Cl^(-),Br^(-),and I^(-))and cations(Na+,Mg^(2+),K+,and Ca^(2+))leads to electron transfer towards the Cu *** process significantly accelerates the reduction of CO_(2).These results reveal that*CO intermediates play a pivotal role in N-integrated CO_(2)***,the Cu_(2)-based N-doped carbon catalyst examined in this study has demonstrated the most potential for C–N coupling to *** findings reveal that through the process of a condensation reaction between*CO and NH_(2)OH for urea synthesis,*NO_(3)-is reduced to*NH_(3),and*CO_(2)to*CCO at dual Cu atom *** dual-site reduction facilitates the synthesis of acetamide through a nucleophilic reaction between NH_(3)and the ketene ***,we found that the I-and Mg^(2+)ions,influenced by pH,were highly effective for acetamide and ammonia synthesis,except when F-and Ca^(2+)were ***,the mechanisms of C–N bond formation were investigated via ab-initio molecular dynamics simulations,and we found that adjusti

When Software Security Meets Large language Models:A Survey

Software security poses substantial risks to our society because software has become part of our life. Numerous techniques have been proposed to resolve or mitigate the impact of software security issues. Among them, software testing and analysis are two of the critical methods, which significantly benefit from the advancements in deep learning technologies. Due to the successful use of deep learning in software security, recently,researchers have explored the potential of using large language models(LLMs) in this area. In this paper, we systematically review the results focusing on LLMs in software security. We analyze the topics of fuzzing, unit test, program repair, bug reproduction, data-driven bug detection, and bug triage. We deconstruct these techniques into several stages and analyze how LLMs can be used in the stages. We also discuss the future directions of using LLMs in software security, including the future directions for the existing use of LLMs and extensions from conventional deep learning research.

High-dimensional large-scale mixed-type data imputation under missing at random

Missingness in mixed-type variables is commonly encountered in a variety of areas. The requirement of complete observations necessities data imputation when a moderate or large proportion of data is ***, inappropriate imputation would downgrade the performance of machine learning algorithms, leading to bad predictions and unreliable statistical inference. For high-dimensional large-scale mixed-type missing data, we develop a computationally efficient imputation method, missing value imputation via generalized factor models（MIG）, under missing at random. The proposed MIG method allows missing variables to be of different types,including continuous, binary, and count variables, and are scalable to both data size n and variable dimension p while existing imputation methods rely on restrictive assumptions such as the same type of missing variables,the low dimensionality of variables, and a limited sample size. We explicitly show that the imputation error of the proposed MIG method diminishes to zero with the rate Op(max{n-1/2, p-1/2}) as both n and p tend to infinity. Five real datasets demonstrate the superior empirical performance of the proposed MIG method over existing methods that the average normalized absolute imputation error is reduced by 5.3%–34.1%.
