AIM:To investigate the difference of medial rectus(MR)and lateral rectus(lR)between acute acquired concomitant esotropia(AACE)and the healthy controls(HCs)detected by magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).METHODS:A case-control *** subjects with AACE and eighteen HCs were *** scanning data were conducted in target-controlled central gaze with a 3-Tesla magnetic resonance *** muscles(EOMs)were scanned in contiguous image planes 2-mm thick spanning the EOM origins to the globe *** form posterior partial volumes(PPVs),the lR and MR cross-sections in the image planes 8,10,12,and 14 mm posterior to the globe were summed and multiplied by the 2-mm slice *** data were classified according to the right eye,left eye,dominant eye,and non-dominant eye,and the differences in mean cross-sectional area,maximum cross-sectional area,and PPVs of the MR and lR muscle in the AACE group and HCs group were compared under the above classifications ***:There were no significant differences between the two groups of demographic *** mean cross-sectional area of the lR muscle was significantly greater in the AACE group than that in the HCs group in the non-dominant eyes(P=0.028).The maximum cross-sectional area of the lR muscle both in the dominant and non-dominant eye of the AACE group was significantly greater than the HCs group(P=0.009,P=0.016).For the dominant eye,the PPVs of the lR muscle were significantly greater in the AACE than that in the HCs group(P=0.013),but not in the MR muscle(P=0.698).CONClUSION:The size and volume of muscles dominant eyes of AACE subjects change significantly to overcome binocular *** lR muscle become larger to compensate for the enhanced convergence in the AACE.

AIM:To investigate the difference in risk factors between non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy(NAION)and central retinal artery occlusion(CRAO)and develop a predictive diagnostic ***:The study included 37 patients with monocular NAION,20 with monocular CRAO,and 24 with ***,age,and systemic diseases were *** routine,lipids,hemorheology,carotid and brachial artery doppler ultrasound,and echocardiography were *** optic disc area,cup area,and cup-to-disc ratio(C/D)of the unaffected eye in the NAION and CRAO group and the right eye in the hypertension group were ***:The carotid artery intimal medial thickness(C-IMT)of the affected side of the CRAO group was thicker(P=0.039)and its flow-mediated dilation(FMD)was lower(P=0.049)than the NAION *** with hypertension patients,NAION patients had higher whole blood reduced viscosity low-shear(WBRV-l)and erythrocyte aggregation index(EAI;P=0.045,0.037),and CRAO patients had higher index of rigidity of erythrocyte(IR)and erythrocyte deformation index(EDI;P=0.004,0.001).The optic cup and the C/D of the NAION group were smaller than the other two groups(Pl showed high diagnostic specificity(83.7%)and sensitivity(85.6%),which was highly related to hypertension,the C-IMT of the affected side,FMD,platelet(PlT),EAI,and C/***:CRAO patients show thicker C-IMT and worse endothelial function than *** and CRAO may be related to abnormal hemorheology.A small cup and small C/D may be involved in *** diagnostic nomogram can be used to preliminarily identify NAION and CRAO.

Background The aim of this study was to characterize the variable phenotypes and outcomes associated with the methylmalonic aciduria and homocystinuria type C protein gene(MMACHC)c.482G>A mutation in 195 Chinese cases with CblC *** We carried out a national,retrospective multicenter study of 195 Chinese patients with CblC disease attributable to the MMACHC c.482G>A variant either in a homozygous or compound heterozygous *** control group consisted of 200 patients diagnosed with CblC disease who did not possess the c.482G>A *** features,including disease onset,symptoms,biochemical metabolites,gene mutation,and follow-up outcomes were reviewed and analyzed in *** median follow-up period spanned 3 years and 8 months,with a range of 1 year and 2 months to 12 years and 10 *** Among 195 patients carrying the c.482G>A variant,125(64.1%)cases were diagnosed by newborn screening(NBS),60(30.8%)cases were detected due to disease onset,and 10(5.1%)cases were identified from sibling *** hundred and seventeen(93.6%)individuals who were diagnosed by NBS,and nine patients who came from sibling diagnoses remained asymptomatic in this *** 69 symptomatic patients of the c.482G>A group,more patients presented with later onset,and the top six common clinical symptoms at disease onset were developmental delay(59.4%),lower limb weakness and poor exercise tolerance(50.7%),cognitive decline(37.7%),gait instability and abnormal posture(36.2%),seizures(26.1%),and psychiatric and behavioral disturbances(24.6%).In the 159 symptomatic patients lacking c.482G>A variants,the most frequently observed clinical manifestations at disease onset included developmental delay(81.8%),lethargy and feeding difficulty(62.9%),lower limb weakness and poor exercise tolerance(54.7%),prolonged neonatal jaundice(51.6%),vomiting(47.2%),and seizures(32.7%).Before treatment,the levels of blood propionylcarnitine,propionylcarnitine/acetylcarnitine ratio

BACKGROUND Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm(BPDCN)is a rare,highly invasive malignant *** is no universally accepted standard of care because of its rarity and the dearth of prospective *** is still challenging for some patients to achieve persistent clinical remission or cure,despite the success of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(allo-HSCT),indicating that there is still a significant recurrence *** report a case of prevention of BPDCN allograft recurrence by azacitidine maintenance therapy and review the relevant *** SUMMARY We report a 41-year-old man with BPDCN who was admitted to hospital due to skin sclerosis for>5 mo’*** was diagnosed by combined clinical assessment and laboratory *** diagnosis,the patients underwent induction consolidation chemotherapy to achieve the first complete remission,followed by bridging ***-transplantation,azacitidine(75 mg/m2 for 7 d)was administered as maintenance therapy,with repeat administration every 4–6 wk and appropriate extension of the chemotherapy *** 10 cycles,the patient has been disease free for 26 mo after *** assessments of bone marrow morphology,minimal residual disease,full donor chimerism,Epstein–Barr virus,and cytomegalovirus all yielded normal results with no abnormalities *** Azacitidine may be a safe and effective maintenance treatment for BPDCN following transplantation because there were no overt adverse events during the course of treatment.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of male hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection on male fertility,embryonic development,and in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection(IVF/ICSI)*** performed a retrospective cohort study that included 3965 infertile couples who received fresh embryo transfer cycles for the first time at the Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital(Fuzhou,China)from January 2018 to January *** couples were categorized based on their HBV infection status into the HBV group(HBV-positive men and HBV-negative women)and the control group(HBV-negative couples).A 1:1 propensity score matching was performed with relatively balanced *** characteristics,semen parameters,laboratory outcomes,clinical outcomes,and obstetric and neonatal outcomes were compared between *** propensity score matching,821 couples were included in each *** groups had similar semen parameters and obstetric and neonatal *** HBV group showed a significantly lower live birth rate than the control group(Ply higher abortion rate than the control group(Plity embryos and blastocyst formation were significantly lower in the HBV group than those in the control group(both Plusion,in couples who undergo IVF/ICSI,male HBV infection reduces the live birth rate and increases the risk of ***,the incidence of low birth weight in women with IVF/ICSI does not increase with male HBV infection.
