Impacts of angiotensin II on retinal artery changes in apolipoprotein E deficient mice

AIM:To investigate the impacts of angiotensin II(Ang II)on retinal artery changes in apolipoprotein E deficient(apoE^(-/-))***:ApoE^(-/-)male mice were infused by minipumps with Ang II at 1000 ng/kg·min(Ang II group)or saline(control group)for *** were underwent ophthalmic fundus examination on day 0,14,and 28 of *** examination,ribonucleic acid(RNA)sequencing and local Ang II measurement of retinas were ***:Ophthalmic fundus examination showed Ang II infusion promoted the formation of retinal arterial aneurysm-like lesions on day *** coherence tomography revealed the ganglion cell and inner plexiform layer(GCIPl)thickness in the control group was significantly thinner than that in Ang II group(Plin-eosin staining demonstrated diffused swelling of GCIPl layer and its disordered structure in Ang II *** electron microscopy showed Ang II infusion caused aggravation of atherosclerotic lesions,including increased swelling,roughness,disorganization of the retinal vasculature,and vacuoles ***-sequencing and gene ontology enrichment analysis demonstrated that the structure and function of cellular membrane might be disturbed and visual function might be compromised by Ang *** local level of Ang II was higher in Ang II infusion group but did not show significant differences compared to the control group(P=0.086).CONClUSION:Ang II infusion promotes the formation of retinal arterial aneurysm-like lesions in apoE^(-/-)mice,causing aggravation of atherosclerotic lesions,more severe disorganization of the retinal vasculature and disturbance of the cellular membrane.

We have conducted a comprehensive investigation into the bright single pulse emission from PSR B1133+16using the Giant Metrewave Radio *** time resolution data(61μs)were obtained at a center frequency of 322 MHz with a bandwidth of 32 MHz over a continuous observation period of 7.45 hr.A total of 1082 bright pulses were sporadically detected with peak flux densities ranging from 10 to 23 times stronger than the average pulse ***,no giant pulse-like emission with a relative pulse energy larger than 10 and extremely short duration was detected,indicating that these bright pulses cannot be categorized as giant pulse *** majority of these bright pulses are concentrated in pulse phases at both the leading and trailing windows of the average pulse profile,with an occurrence ratio of approximately *** pulse energy distribution for all individual pulses can be described by a combination of two Gaussian components and a cutoff power-law with an index of α=-*** updated nulling fraction of 15.35%±0.45% was determined from the energy *** emission of individual pulses follows a log-normal distribution in peak flux density *** is imperative that regular phase drifting in bright pulse sequence is identified in both the leading and trailing components for the first *** physical mechanisms are discussed in detail to provide insights into these observations.

Synthesis of ordered mesoporous crystalline boron phosphate scaffold with double diamond surface structure

Ordered mesoporous materials have received great attention due to their well-defined pore structures and potential applications in catalysis, adsorption, separation, drug delivery, etc. Although various compositions of mesoporous solids have been successfully prepared, the preparation of crystalline non-metallic oxyacid salts with ordered mesoporosity remains a major challenge. Herein, we report the synthesis of a mesoporous solid acid crystalline boron phosphate（BPO4） catalyst with a bicontinuous shifted double diamond（SDD） hyperbolic surface structure. The BPO4scaffold was obtained by synergistic selfassembly in a mixed solvent of water and tetrahydrofuran using the diblock copolymer poly（ethylene oxide）-block-polystyrene as template and phosphoric acid and orthoboric acid as inorganic sources. The structure consists of two sets of diamond networks adjacent to each other with a mesostructural scale tetragonal symmetry（space group I41/amd） with unit cell parameters of a =80 nm and c = 113 nm, which affords the scaffold a specific surface area of 44 m2/g. As a solid acid catalytic material, the SDD BPO4scaffold exhibited excellent catalytic activity at room temperature with a conversion of furfural to 2-（dimethoxymethyl）furan over 70% and can be reused after recovery without serious loss of activity. In the propane oxidative dehydrogenation reaction, SDD BPO4demonstrated high olefin productivity and selectivity while maintaining high reaction rate. This study provides ideas for the preparation of ordered mesoporous crystalline catalytic materials and demonstrates their potential for practical applications.

Few-shot skin cancer detection based on many-objective optimization

Due to the long-tailed distribution characteristics of skin cancer data, quickly identifying rare skin disease samples with small amounts of data becomes a challenging few-shot problem. The detection method based on meta-learning can quickly learn meta-knowledge from the majority of common classes skin disease classes and use prior knowledge to improve the model’s ability to detect rare skin diseases. However, the bias in the quality and distribution of public skin cancer categories leads to the risk of overfitting in the pre-training phase of meta-learning, and meta-learning models based on traditional networks struggle to handle fine-grained skin disease problems. Affronting this issue, a many-objective meta-learning skin cancer detection model is proposed. The proposed model optimizes the distribution of common classes (base classes) by considering various classification performances of the skin cancer detection model, thus obtaining quality-enhanced training samples. And it adopts the ResNet12 network structure integrated with the CCNet attention model, which can significantly enhance the ability to identify fine-grained skin lesion images. Additionally,an improved many-objective optimization algorithm with discrete grouping strategy is designed to efficiently solve the proposed model. Some experiments are conducted on two public medical datasets, ⅠSCⅠ2018 and Derm7pt. The proposed many-objective skin detection model achieves detection accuracies of 67 %, 79 %, and 82 % respectively on binary classification tasks with 1-shot, 3-shot, and 5-shot learning,which validates the effectiveness of the model. © 2024 Northeast University. Simulation study on cuttings transport of the backreaming operation for long horizontal section wells

The backreaming operation plays a significant role in safe drilling for horizontal wellbores, while it may cause severe stuck pipe accidents. To lower the risk of the stuck pipe in backreaming operations, the mechanism of cuttings transport needs to be carefully investigated. In this research, a transient cuttings transport with multiple flow patterns model is developed to predict the evolution of cuttings transported in the annulus while backreaming. The established model can provide predictions of the distribution of cuttings bed along the wellbore considering the bulldozer effect caused by large-size drilling tools(lSDTs). The sensitivity analyses of the size of lSDTs, and backreaming operating parameters are conducted in Section 4. And a new theory is proposed to explain the mechanism of cuttings transport in the backreaming operation, in which both the bit and lSDTs have the “cleaning effect” and “plugging effect”.The results demonstrate that the cuttings bed in annuli is in a state of dynamic equilibrium, but the overall trend and the distribution pattern are obvious. First, larger diameters and longer drilling tools could lead to a higher risk of the stuck pipe. Second, we find that it is not the case that the higher flow rate is always better for hole cleaning, so three flow-rate intervals are discussed separately under the given conditions. When the “dangerous flow rate”(l/s in Case 4) is employed, the cuttings bed completely blocks the borehole near the step surface and causes a stuck pipe directly. If the flow rate increases to the “low flow rate” interval(33-35 l/s in Case 4), a smaller flow rate instead facilitates borehole cleaning. If the flow rate is large enough to be in the “high flow rate” interval(>35 l/s in Case 4),the higher the flow rate, the better the cleaning effect of cuttings beds. Metal sulfides are emerging highly active electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER),but still suffer from the instability caused by their inevitable reconstruction,especially at industrial-level current ***,it is discovered that Fe-incorporated Ni3S2 nanowires can deliver extraordinary durability with an ultralow potential degradation rate of 0.006 mV/h in alkaline electrolytes made with fresh water and seawater at a benchmark of 500 mA cm^(-2) while meeting the industrial activity requirement for overpotential less than 300 mV(290 mV).Systematic experiments and theoretical simulations suggest that after forming the S-doped NiFeOOH shell to boost intrinsic activity,Fe incorporation effectivelymitigates the reconstruction of the Ni_(3)S_(2) nanowire core by restraining Ni oxidation and S dissolution,justifying the *** work highlights the significance of circumventing reconstruction and provides a strategy to explore practical chalcogenides-based OER electrocatalysts.

BACKGROUND lymphovascular invasion(lVI)and perineural invasion(PNI)are important prognostic factors for gastric cancer(GC)that indicate an increased risk of metastasis and poor *** preoperative prediction of lVI/PNI status could help clinicians identify high-risk patients and guide treatment ***,prior models using conventional computed tomography(CT)images to predict lVI or PNI separately have had limited *** CT provides quantitative enhancement parameters that may better capture tumor *** hypothesized that a predictive model combining clinical and spectral CT parameters would accurately preoperatively predict lVI/PNI status in GC *** To develop and test a machine learning model that fuses spectral CT parameters and clinical indicators to predict lVI/PNI status *** This study used a retrospective dataset involving 257 GC patients(training cohort,n=172;validation cohort,n=85).First,several clinical indicators,including serum tumor markers,CT-TN stages and CT-detected extramural vein invasion(CT-EMVI),were extracted,as were quantitative spectral CT parameters from the delineated tumor ***,a two-step feature selection approach using correlation-based methods and information gain ranking inside a 10-fold cross-validation loop was utilized to select informative clinical and spectral CT parameters.A logistic regression(lR)-based nomogram model was subsequently constructed to predict lVI/PNI status,and its performance was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC).RESUlTS In both the training and validation cohorts,CT T3-4 stage,CT-N positive status,and CT-EMVI positive status are more prevalent in the lVI/PNI-positive group and these differences are statistically significant(PlR analysis of the training group showed preoperative CT-T stage,CT-EMVI,single-energy CT values of 70 keV of venous phase(VP-70 keV),and the ratio of standardized iodine co

Objective This study aimed to evaluate the associations of serum folate and/or vitamin B12 concentrations with obesity among Chinese children and *** A cross-sectional study was conducted including 3,079 Chinese children and adolescents,aged 6 to 17 years,from Jiangsu,*** indices,such as,children's body mass index(BMI),BMI z-scores,waist circumference,and waist-to-height ratio were *** linear regression and generalized additive models were used to investigate the associations of serum folate and vitamin B12 levels with anthropometric indices and odds of *** We observed that serum vitamin B12 concentrations were inversely associated with all anthropometric indices and the odds of general obesity[odds ratio(OR)=0.68;95%confidence interval(CI)=0.59,0.78]and abdominal obesity(OR=0.68;95%CI=0.60,0.77).When compared to participants with both serum vitamin levels in the two middle quartiles,those with both serum folate and vitamin B12 levels in the highest quartile were less prone to general(OR=0.31,95%CI=0.19,0.50)or abdominal obesity(OR=0.46,95%CI=0.31,0.67).Conversely,participants with vitamin B12 levels in the lowest quartile alongside folate levels in the highest quartile had higher odds of abdominal obesity(OR=2.06,95%CI=1.09,3.91).Conclusion Higher serum vitamin B12 concentrations,but not serum folate concentrations,were associated with lower odds of childhood *** and adolescents with high levels of vitamin B12 and folate were less likely to be obese.
