Subarachnoid hemorrhage misdiagnosed as acute coronary syndrome leading to catastrophic neurologic injury: A case report

Thickening progression mechanism of silica fume-oil well cement composite system at high temperatures

This work studied the thickening progression mechanism of the silica fume-oil well cement composite system at high temperatures(110-180.C) in order to provide a theoretical guidance for the rational application of silica fume in the cementing engineering. Results showed that silica fume seldom affected the thickening progression of oil well cement slurry at 110-120.C, but when temperature reached above130.C, it would aggravate the bulging degree of thickening curves and significantly extend the thickening time, meanwhile causing the abnormal “temperature-based thickening time reversal” and“dosage-based thickening time reversal” phenomena in the range of 130-160.C and 170-180.C respectively. At 130-160.C, the thickening time of oil well cement slurry was mainly associated with the generation rate of calcium hydroxide(CH) crystal. The introduced silica fume would be attracted to the cement minerals' surface that were hydrating to produce CH and agglomerate together to form an“adsorptive barrier” to hinder further hydration of the inner cement minerals. This “adsorptive barrier”effect strengthened with the rising temperature which extended the thickening time and caused the occurrence of the “temperature-based thickening time reversal” phenomenon. At 170-180.C, the pozzolanic activity of silica fume significantly enhanced and considerable amount of C-S-H was generated, thus the “temperature-based thickening time reversal” vanished and the “dosage-based thickening time reversal” was presented.

Quantum Signatures of Chaos in Adiabatic Interaction Between a Trapped Ion and a Laser Standing Wave

We study quantum motion around a classical heteroclinic point of a single trapped ion interacting with a strong laser standing wave. We construct a set of exact coherent states of the quantum system and from the exact solutions reveal that quantum signatures of chaos can be induced by the adiabatic interaction between the trapped ion and the laser standing wave, where the quantum expectation values of position and momentum correspond to the classically chaotic orbit. The chaotic region on the phase space is illustrated. The energy crossing and quantum resonance in time evolution and the exponentially increased Heisenberg uncertainty are found. The results suggest a theoretical scheme for controlling the unstable regular and chaotic motions.

Clustering feature decision trees for semi-supervised classification from high-speed data streams

Most stream data classification algorithms apply the supervised learning strategy which requires massive labeled *** approaches are impractical since labeled data are usually hard to obtain in *** this paper,we build a clustering feature decision tree model,CFDT,from data streams having both unlabeled and a small number of labeled *** applies a micro-clustering algorithm that scans the data only once to provide the statistical summaries of the data for incremental decision tree ***-clusters also serve as classifiers in tree leaves to improve classification accuracy and reinforce the any-time *** experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets show that CFDT is highly scalable for data streams while gener-ating high classification accuracy with high speed.

Inhibitory effect of vascular endothelial growth factors-targeted small interfering RNA on proliferation of gastric cancer cells

AIM： To examine the effects of vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF）-targeted small interfering RNA （siRNA） on proliferation of gastric cancer cellsin vitro.METHODS： Several siRNAs were transfected into human gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901 with Lipofectamine 2000. Cells not transfected with LipofectamineTM 2000 or scrambled （SCR） siRNA served as controls. The inhibitory effect of siRNA on the expression of VEGF mRNA and protein was detected by RT-PCR and ELISA. MTT assay was used to examine the inhibition rate of cell *** change in cell cycling of siRNA-treated cells was detected by flow cytometry.RESULTS： siRNA targeting human VEGF effectively inhibited the proliferation of gastric cancer cell lineSGC-7901 and the distribution of cell cycle. The percentage of G0/G1 phase was significantly higher in siRNA1- and siRNA2-transfected cells than in control *** expression of VEGF mRNA was significantly inhibited in siRNA1- and siRNA2-transfected cells compared with that in control cells. VEGF protein notably decreased in siRNA-transfected cells, but had no effect on SCR siRNA.CONCLUSION： VEGF siRNA inhibits proliferation of gastric cancer cells in vitro.

Cation-Dipole Interaction-Induced Coacervate Underwater Adhesives in Natural Seawater

Significant progress has been made in wet adhesives for low salinity water,but exploration of general ionic adhesives for natural seawater is less developed because the high salinity could weaken interfacial bonding and shields electrostatic interactions,resulting in adhesion ***,the design of adhesives for natural seawater represents challenges less ***,a cationic polyelectrolyte(PECHIA)containing imidazolacetonitrile unit was explored to prepare adhesives enabled by natural *** combining the ion shielding effect with the“cation-dipole”interactions between PECHIA chains,aqueous solution of the PECHIA underwent coacervation and self-crosslinking in natural seawater,allowing for underwater adhesion to various substrates in *** instantaneous lap-shear and tensile adhesion strengths are 47 and 119 kPa,respectively,while the cured adhesive shows~739 k Pa tensile adhesion in natural *** design of PECHIA enables wet adhesives viable for applications in the diversified scenarios of natural seawater.

The IL-6-STAT3 axis is critically involved in inflammation-associated carcinogenesis(IAC).How this axis is regulated to modulate IAC remains ***,we show that the plasma membrane-associated E3 ubiquitin ligase MARCH3 negatively regulates STAT3 activation triggered by IL-6,as well as another IL-6 subfamily member,Oncostatin M(OSM).MARCH3 is associated with the IL-6 receptorα-chain(IL-6Rα)and its coreceptor *** experiments indicated that MARCH3 mediates the polyubiquitination of IL-6Rαat K401 and gp130 at K849 following IL-6 stimulation,leading to their translocation to and degradation in ***3 deficiency increases IL-6-and OSM-triggered activation of STAT3 and induction of downstream effector genes in various cell ***3 deficiency enhances dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced STAT3 activation,increases the expression of inflammatory cytokines,and exacerbates colitis,as well as azoxymethane(AOM)/DSS-induced colitis-associated cancer in *** addition,MARCH3 is downregulated in human colorectal cancer tissues and associated with poor survival across different cancer *** findings suggest that MARCH3 is a pivotal negative regulator of IL-6-induced STAT3 activation,inflammation,and inflammation-associated carcinogenesis.

The zinc-finger protein ZFYVE1 modulates TLR3-mediated signaling by facilitating TLR3 ligand binding

Recognition of viral dsRNA by Toll-like receptor 3(TLR3)leads to the induction of downstream antiviral effectors and the innate antiviral immune ***,we identified the zinc-finger FYVE domain-containing protein ZFYVE1,a guanylate-binding protein(GBP),as a positive regulator of TLR3-mediated *** of ZFYVE1 promoted the transcription of downstream antiviral genes upon stimulation with the synthetic TLR3 ligand poly(I:C).Conversely,ZFYVE1 deficiency had the opposite ***1^(−/−) mice were less susceptible than wild-type mice to inflammatory death induced by poly(I:C)but not ***1 was associated with TLR3,and the FYVE domain of ZFYVE1 and the ectodomain of TLR3 were shown to be responsible for their ***1 was bound to poly(I:C)and increased the binding affinity of TLR3 to poly(I:C).These findings suggest that ZFYVE1 plays an important role in the TLR3-mediated innate immune and inflammatory responses by promoting the ligand binding of TLR3.
