Di（2-amino-5-methyl-1,8-naphthyridin-1-ium-7-carboxylato）dichlorocuprate（Ⅱ） di- hydrate has been prepared from 5,7-dimethyl-1,8-naphthyridine-2-amine, CuCl2·2H2O and concentrated hydrochloride acid, and its structure was determined by X-ray diffraction at 298 K. The compound （C20H22Cl2CuN6O6, Mr = 576.88） crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P21/n with a = 9.102（9）, b = 12.150（12）, c = 10.619（10） A,β = 91.20°, V= 1174.1（19） A^3, Z= 2, Dc= 1.632 g/cm^3, F（000） = 590,μ = 1.208 mm^-1, R = 0.0392 and wR = 0.0984. The Cu^2＋ ion is six-coordinated by two nitrogen and two oxygen atoms from two different naphthyridine ligands at the equatorial positions together with two chloride ions located at the axial positions.

Mixed micron-sized Cu/Ti3SiC2 （vo15%） powder was mechanically milled using agate balls and zirconia balls separately. Then followed an examination of it with the FEI-SEM. The experimental results show that, distributed homogenously in Cu matrix, the Ti3SiC2 particles have a size of about 30-50 nm after milled with agate balls for 8 h, while it remains approximately unchanged after milled with zirconia balls. The microstructure of the mixture at different ball-milling stages was also studied. Bulks of Cu/Ti3SiC2 nano-composite were fabricated by hot pressing nano-sized Cu/Ti3SiC2 powder at the temperature of 1 073 K under 100 MPa. Then came an investigation of the effects of the particle size and agglomerate state of Ti3SiC2 as well as the microstructure of Cu/Ti3SiC2 nano-composite. It was found that the nano-sized Ti3SiC2 particles distribute evenly in copper.

Study on the bioactivity changes of hydroxylated sulfonylureas derivatives: A possible metabolism

Some new sulfonylureas and their hydroxylation products had been synthesized from 2-amino-4-methylpyrimidine. Their bioactivities against E. coli AHAS II in vitro were tested and the results indicated that the hydroxylation decreased the inhibition activities of sulfonylureas significantly. Subsequently herbicidal tests against stem-growth of barnyard grass and root-growth of rape confirmed the above conclusion. The preliminary molecular docking studies were also carried out to investigate the binding modes of non-hydroxylated and hydroxylated sulfonylureas with AHAS.

Pyrochlore titanate oxides, R2Ti2O7（R=Gd3＋, Tb3＋, Dy3＋）, were synthesized under mild hydrothermal conditions. The crystal growth of pyrochlore titanate oxides and taking place of chemical reaction in the hydrothermal processing were sensitive to the alkalinity, temperature, reaction time, the nature of the rare earth ion and the composition of initial reaction mixture. The as-prepared samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectrum and variable temperature dc magnetic susceptibility（Superconductivity quantum interference device, SQUIDS）. The magnetic studies gave 7.29×10-23 A·m2/Gd3＋ and -8.28 K, 8.75×10-23 A·m2/ Tb3＋ and -19.7 K, and 8.85×10-23 A·m2/Dy3＋ and 0.84 K effective moments and Weiss constants for Gd2Ti2O7, Tb2Ti2O7 and Dy2Ti2O7, respectively.

Background Magnetic resonance imaging （MRI） is commonly utilized as part of the diagnostic workup for the clinical diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme （GBM）, further guiding the clinical treatment of this aggressive cancer. Recent research has shown that microRNAs （miRNAs） may act as oncogenes, or in some cases, tumor suppressor genes that in turn may reflect the genotypic features of GBM. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between MRI features and miRNA gene expression in patients with glioblastoma multiforme. Methods In order to identify the relationship between the radiographic findings of MRI and those identified changes in miRNA gene expression of GBM, we reviewed the MRI images of GBM patients and compared them with the identified miRNA expression profiles utilizing microarray analysis of paired GBM tumor samples. We chose five MRI imaging features：（1） contrast tumor enhanced/necrosis ratio, （2） contrast tumor enhanced/T2 ratio, （3） multiple lesions, （4） hemorrhage, and （5） necrotic volume. The relationship between these five imaging features and miRNA expression was studied using significance analysis of microarrays analysis. Results We found that the expression of miRNAs such as hsa-miR-892b, hsa-miR-892a, and hsa-miR-888 was inversely correlated with an enhanced/necrosis ratio 〉1. The miRNAs such as hsa-miR-95, hsa-miR-498, and hsa-miR-1300 were associated with a contrast tumor enhanced/T2 ratio 〉-1. The miRNAs such as hsa-miR-612, hsa-miR-524-3, and hsa- miR-1282 were associated with multiple lesions identified on MRI and the expression of miR-221 was associated with hemorrhage by GBM. The expression of miR-let-7, including miR-let-7f, miR-let-7i, and miR-let-7f-l＊, was downregulated in the hemorrhage group. The gene expression of miRNAs such as hsa-miR-140-5p, hsa-miR-30e, and hsa-miR-301a was relatively low when compared with the larger necrotic volume group as identified by MRI.
