Relationship over southern China between the summer rainfall induced by tropical cyclones and that by monsoon

This study investigates the relationship between tropical cyclone-induced precipitation（P_（TC）） and summer monsoon-induced precipitation（P_（SM）） in southern China（SC） during *** spatial patterns of the first interannual mode are uniform in sign over SC,with positive anomalies for P_（TC） and negative anomalies for P_（SM）.The background of an increase in cyclonic vorticity,an increase in RH,and a decrease in vertical wind shear over the South China Sea（SCS）-western north Pacific（WNP） provides favorable conditions for more TC *** positive equatorial central Pacific SST anomaly and negative North Indian Ocean SST anomaly contribute to the anomalous cyclone over the SCS-WNP,which causes decreasing P_（SM） in SC together with an anomalous anticyclone over eastern *** contrast,whilst the spatial patterns of the first interdecadal mode are also uniform in sign over SC,there are positive anomalies for both P_（TC） and P_（SM）.The first interdecadal principal component features significant positive correlation with the number of TCs forming in the *** is a significant increase in P_（TC） and P_（SM） after early 1990 s.A positive tropical Indian Ocean（TIO） SST anomaly persists from the preceding winter to *** the preceding winter and spring after the early 1990 s,a positive western Pacific SST anomaly can result in TIO SST warming through vertical ***,the positive TIO SST anomaly triggers an anomalous WNP anticyclone and contributes to the interdecadal increase in SC P_（SM） in the succeeding *** persistent heating source over SC from May to summer related to an earlier onset of the SCS monsoon may strengthen the East Asian subtropical summer monsoon.

Relationship between the Periodic Fluctuations of Pressure and Precipitation during a Rainstorm

The relationship between periodic fluctuations of pressure and precipitation was investigated using the continuous wavelet transform and wavelet coherence transform methods for a rainstorm case that occurred during 19–25 June 2005 in Guangdong Province, China. The results show that a period of 2–4 h existed in both pressure and precipitation fluctuations. Furthermore, this high frequency pressure fluctuation was closely related to the fluctuation of precipitation with a similar period, and the fluctuation of pressure was about two hours ahead of the precipitation fluctuation variation. Since the high frequency pressure fluctuation implies the existence of gravity wave activity, the results suggest that gravity wave activities with a 2–4 h period in the atmosphere exerted an important influence on precipitation during this rainstorm.

Clinical effects of nonconvulsive electrotherapy combined with mindfulness-based stress reduction and changes of serum inflammatory factors in depression

A southward withdrawal of the northern edge of the East Asian summer monsoon around the early1990s

The Multi-parameter Test of Gravitational Wave Dispersion with Principal Component Analysis

In this work, we consider a conventional test of gravitational wave(GW) propagation which is based on the phenomenological parameterized dispersion relation to describe potential departures from General Relativity(GR)along the propagation of GWs. But different from tests conventionally performed previously, we vary multiple deformation coefficients simultaneously and employ the principal component analysis(PCA) method to remedy the strong degeneracy among deformation coefficients and obtain informative posteriors. The dominant PCA components can be better measured and constrained, and thus are expected to be more sensitive to potential departures from the waveform model. Using this method we analyze ten selected events and get the result that the combined posteriors of the dominant PCA parameters are consistent with GR within 99.7% credible intervals. The standard deviation of the first dominant PCA parameter is three times smaller than that of the original dispersion parameter of the leading order. However, the multi-parameter test with PCA is more sensitive to not only potential deviations from GR but also systematic errors of waveform models. The difference in results obtained by using different waveform templates hints that the demands of waveform accuracy are higher to perform the multiparameter test with PCA. Whereas, it cannot be strictly proven that the deviation is indeed and only induced by systematic errors. It requires more thorough research in the future to exclude other possible reasons in parameter estimation and data processing.
