Impacts of proppant distribution on development of tight oil reservoirs with threshold pressure gradient

Field evidence indicates that proppant distribution and threshold pressure gradient have great impacts on well *** at the development of unconventional oil reservoirs in Triassic Chang-7 Unit,Ordos Basin of China,we presented an integrated workflow to investigate how(1)proppant placement in induced fracture and(2)non-linear flow in reservoir matrix would affect well productivity and fluid flow in the *** with our research before(Yue et al.,2020),here we extended this study into the development of multi-stage fractured horizontal wells(MFHWs)with large-scale complicated fracture *** integrated workflow is based on the finite element method and consists of simulation models for proppant-laden fluid flow,fracture flow,and non-linear seepage flow,*** results indicate that the distribution of proppant inside the induced cracks significantly affects the productivity of the *** we assign an idealized proppant distribution instead of the real distribution,there will be an overestimation of 44.98%in daily oil rate and 30.63%in cumulative oil production after continuous development of 1000 ***,threshold pressure gradient(TPG)also significantly affects the well performance in tight oil *** we simply apply linear Darcy’s law to the reservoir matrix,the overall cumulative oil production can be overrated by 77%after 1000 days of *** general,this research provides new insights into the development of tight oil reservoirs with TPG and meanwhile reveals the significance of proppant distribution and non-linear fluid flow in the production scenario design.

Flow characteristics of silicon oil in nanochannels

The nonlinear flow of liquids through nanoscale channels play an important role in the separation and purification properties of porous membranes,the manufacture of biofilm ionic channels and microfluidic chips,the production of micro electro-mechanical *** oil flow experiments were conducted through anodic alumina films with pore sizes of 26,67,89,and 124 nm,in which flow mechanism and characteristics of the oil through the nanoscale channels were *** nanoflow features are revealed:(1)The experimental flow rate is less than the theoretical flow rate through nanochannels,as solid-liquid interaction increasing flow resistance.(2)At small shear rate,the boundary layer is one,indicating existence of a threshold pressure of oil flow through nanochannels.(3)The boundary layer decreases with the increasing of shear rate,and it rapidly decreases as shear rate increases when the value of shear rate is small.(4)The drag coefficient decreases nonlinearly with increasing shear rate,decreasing more slowly when value of shear rate is big,and trending towards 1 in the case of large shear *** is shown that the non-linearity of flow is induced by great solid-liquid interaction in nano and microscale,and increasing the driving force can raise the efficiency at the nanometer scale.

Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor based on a graphene-carbon nanotube-polydimethylsiloxane composite

Flexible sensors are used widely in wearable devices, specifically flexible piezoresistive sensors, which are common and easy to ***, fabricating such sensors is expensive and complex, so proposed here is a simple fabrication approach involving a sensor containing microstructures replicated from a sandpaper template onto which polydimethylsiloxane containing a mixture of graphene and carbon nanotubes is spin coated. The surface morphologies of three versions of the sensor made using different grades of sandpaper are observed, and the corresponding pressure sensitivities and linearity and hysteresis characteristics are assessed and analyzed. The results show that the sensor made using 80-mesh sandpaper has the best sensing performance. Its sensitivity is 0.341 kPa-1in the loading range of 0–1.6 kPa, it responds to small external loading of 100 Pa with a resistance change of 10%, its loading and unloading response times are 0.126 and 0.2 s, respectively,and its hysteresis characteristic is ~7%, indicating that the sensor has high sensitivity, fast response, and good stability. Thus, the presented piezoresistive sensor is promising for practical applications in flexible wearable electronics.

Identification of in situ Generated Iron-Vacancy Induced Oxygen Evolution Reaction Kinetics on Cobalt Iron Oxyhydroxide

Developing highly efficient and low-cost electrocatalysts towards oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is essential for practical application in water electrolyzers and rechargeable metal-air *** Fe-based oxyhydroxides are regarded as state-of-the-art non-noble OER electrocatalysts,the origin of performance enhancement derived from Fe doping remains a hot topic of considerable ***,we demonstrate that in situ generated Fe vacancies in the pristine CoFeOOH catalyst through a pre-conversion process during alkaline OER result from dynamic Fe dissolution,identifying the origin of Fe-vacancy-induced enhanced OER *** functional theory(DFT)calculations and experimental results including X-ray absorption fine-structure spectroscopy,in situ UV-Vis spectroscopy,and in situ Raman spectroscopy reveal that the Fe vacancies could significantly promote the d-band center and valence states of adjacent Co sites,alter the active site from Fe atom to Co atom,accelerate the formation of high-valent active Co^(4+)species,and reduce the energy barrier of the potential-determining step,thereby contribute to the significantly enhanced OER performance.

Improved observation of colonized roots reveals the regulation of arbuscule development and senescence by drought stress in the arbuscular mycorrhizae of citrus

Citrus is the typical mycorrhizal fruit tree species establishing symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. However, arbuscule development and senescence in colonized citrus roots, especially in response to drought stress, remain unclear, which is mainly due to the difficulty in clearing and staining lignified roots with the conventional method. Here, we improved the observation of colonized roots of citrus plants with the sectioning method, which enabled the clear observation of AM fungal structures. Furthermore, we investigated the effects of one week of drought stress on arbuscule development and senescence with the sectioning method. Microscopy observations indicated that drought stress significantly decreased mycorrhizal colonization (F%and M%) although it did not affect plant growth performance. Fluorescence probes (WGA 488 and/or Nile red) revealed that drought stress inhibited arbuscule development by increasing the percentage of arbuscules at the early stage and decreasing the percentages of arbuscules at the midterm and mature stages. Meanwhile, drought stress accelerated arbuscule senescence, which was characterized by the increased accumulation of neutral lipids. Overall, the sectioning method developed in this study enables the in-depth investigation of arbuscule status, and drought stress can inhibit arbuscule development but accelerate arbuscule senescence in the colonized roots of citrus plants. This study paves the way to elaborately dissecting the arbuscule dynamics in the roots of fruit tree species in response to diverse abiotic stresses.

Detwinning and Anneal-Hardening Behaviors of Pre-Twinned AZ31 Alloys under Cryogenic Loading

Detwinning behavior of a pre-twinned magnesium alloy AZ31 at cryogenic temperature was investigated,also with a focus on the annealing hardening behavior of samples with different fractions of ***-compression along the transverse direction with strains of 1.7%,3.0%,and 6.0% was applied to generated[1012]*** behavior,microstructure,and texture evolution during subsequent tension were *** results show that low temperature did not change the fact that detwinning still pre-dominated in the pre-twinned samples under reverse ***,a relatively harder migration of twin boundaries was found at cryogenic *** annealing hardening of 27-40 MPa was observed in the pre-twinned samples,and such a hardening effect shows a close relation with the fraction of pre-twins or the level of *** annealing hardening effect disappeared if the matrix was consumed by twins along with the increased pre-compression *** corresponding reasons for the annealing hardening behavior were discussed.

The Astrometric Performance of the China Space Station Telescope(CSST)Sky Survey in Extending the Gaia Celestial Reference Frame

The multi-color imaging sky survey conducted by the China Space Station Telescope(CSST)holds significant promise for advancing the development of the celestial reference *** this study,we focus on assessing the astrometric performance of the CSST celestial reference frame(CSST-CRF)in extending the Gaia Celestial Reference Frame 3(Gaia-CRF3).First,the orientation precision of the CSST reference frame is evaluated using a simulated set of extragalactic sources with CSST g magnitudes ranging from 18 to 25 *** estimated orientation uncertainty caused by random error insignificantly affects the alignment between Gaia-CRF3 and the ***,the systematic effect of incomplete CSST sky coverage on the alignment between CSST-CRF and Gaia-CRF3 is discussed by analyzing the differences between the subset of Gaia-CRF3 in the CSST observation region(Gaia-CRF3′)and Gaia-CRF3 as a *** the third International Celestial Reference Frame(ICRF3)S/X band as an intermediate reference frame,the orientation offset between Gaia-CRF3′and GaiaCRF3 is estimated to be 20μ*** offset is marginally larger than the orientation offset between Gaia-CRF3 and the ICRF3,approximately 15μ*** residual spin and glide rate of Gaia-CRF3′are derived from the proper motions,consistent with that of Gaia-CRF3 within the formal ***,we explore the role of CSST in establishing a multi-band celestial reference frame by comparing its limiting magnitude and observation accuracy with existing catalogs in the infrared and ultraviolet *** to its broad wavelength coverage and highprecision measurements,CSST is well-positioned to make significant contributions to the development of a multiband celestial reference frame.

Development and applications of the quasi‐dynamic triaxial apparatus for deep rocks

The mechanical behaviors of deep rocks have always posed a challenge for the implementation and safe operation of major underground engineering *** this end,this study modified the existing mainstream rock mechanics instruments equipped with a dynamic disturbance loading system and developed a second‐generation TFD‐2000/D triaxial *** first‐generation device is equipped with an independent disturbance system and an advanced EDC‐580 all‐digital servo controller,which can apply disturbing load independently,implement the function of cyclic disturbance,and combine dynamic and static *** instrument was found to be reliable for use in analyzing the damage process of rocks in the disturbance test of *** second‐generation instrument tackles three limitations of the first‐generation instrument:(i)it upgrades the strain measurement system and uses extensometers with linear variable differential transformers to accurately measure deformation;(ii)it uses the self‐balanced chamber to replace the Hoek–Franklin triaxial cell and auto‐balancing triaxial pressure chamber;and(iii)the loading rod is independently equipped with an EDC‐580 all‐digital servo controller,which measures precise *** experimental findings confirmed that the second‐generation instrument can be used for rock mechanics testing under cyclic disturbance loading,the disturbance–stress relaxation cycle,and the creep–fatigue *** this sense,the second‐generation instrument can be a useful addition to deep rock mechanical instruments and provide a valuable reference.

Stabilization of cathode electrolyte interphase for aqueous zinc-ion batteries

Aqueous zinc-ion battery systems are attractive for next-generation energy storage devices,however,the unstable electrode electrolyte interphase,especially cathode electrolyte interphase(CEI),has induced rapid capacity attenuation,insufficient cycle life,and severe safety *** the researching of CEI formation,composition,dynamic structure,and reaction mechanisms would help in understanding the fundamental electrochemistry at CEI such as electron and ion transport processes,further strengthening the specific capacity,rate,and cycle performance of the cathode *** this review,we summarized the latest progress in understanding interfacial reaction mechanisms and ion dynamic behavior,emphasizing the impact of surface-specific adsorption and solvation behaviors on the interface's ultimate structure and chemical ***,the significant challenges that persist in CEI formation mechanisms,such as cathodic dissolution,by-product formation,electrostatic interactions,constrained electrochemical windows,oxygen evolution reaction,overpotentials,phase transitions,and additional factors,were *** challenges are explored to identify triggers contributing to the depletion of active materials and alterations in the composition or state of the ***,with a deep comprehension of interfacial behaviors,the review articulates innovative optimization strategies through a detailed categorization of approaches in electrolyte engineering,cathode engineering,and artificial CEI ***,future challenges and development directions of CEI are *** hope to offer insights for constructing robust CEI films to achieve high performance aqueous zinc-ion batteries.

Numerical Simulation of Slurry Diffusion in Fractured Rocks Considering a Time-Varying Viscosity

To analyze the effects of a time-varying viscosity on the penetration length of grouting,in this study cement slur-ries with varying water-cement ratios have been investigated using the Bingham’sﬂuidﬂow equation and a dis-crete element method.Aﬂuid-solid coupling numerical model has been introduced accordingly,and its accuracy has been validated through comparison of theoretical and numerical *** different fracture forms(a single fracture,a branch fracture,and a fracture network),the inﬂuence of the time-varying viscosity on the slurry length range has been investigated,considering the change in the fracture *** results show that under different fracture forms and the same grouting process conditions,the inﬂuence of the time-varying viscosity on the seepage length is 0.350 m.
