Investigation of FRP and SFRC Technologies for Efficient Tunnel Reinforcement Using the Cohesive Zone Model

Amid urbanization and the continuous expansion of transportation networks,the necessity for tunnel construction and maintenance has become *** this need requires the investigation of efficient,economical,and robust tunnel reinforcement *** paper explores fiber reinforced polymer(FRP)and steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC)technologies,which have emerged as viable solutions for enhancing tunnel *** is celebrated for its lightweight and high-strength attributes,effectively augmenting load-bearing capacity and seismic resistance,while SFRC’s notable crack resistance and longevity potentially enhance the performance of tunnel ***,current research predominantly focuses on experimental analysis,lacking comprehensive theoretical *** bridge this gap,the cohesive zone model(CZM),which utilizes cohesive elements to characterize the potential fracture surfaces of concrete/SFRC,the rebar-concrete interface,and the FRP-concrete interface,was employed.A modeling approach was subsequently proposed to construct a tunnel segment model reinforced with either SFRC or ***,the corresponding mixed-mode constitutive models,considering interfacial friction,were integrated into the proposed *** validation and numerical simulations corroborated the accuracy of the proposed ***,this study examined the reinforcement design of tunnel *** a numerical evaluation,the effectiveness of innovative reinforcement schemes,such as substituting concrete with SFRC and externally bonding FRP sheets,was assessed utilizing a case study from the Fuzhou Metro Shield Tunnel Construction Project.

Insight into the Permeability and Microstructure Evolution Mechanism of the Sliding Zone Soil: A Case Study from the huangtupo Landslide, Three Gorges Reservoir, China

A large number of laboratory investigations related to the permeability have been conducted on the sliding *** little attention has been paid to the particular sliding zones of the slideprone Badong ***,we experimentally investigate the permeability nature and the mechanism of seepage in the viscous sliding zone of the huangtupo *** seepage tests have been performed first with consideration of six dry densities and thirteen hydraulic gradients,in conjunction with the mercury intrusion porosimetry test and scanning electron microscopy test for the microstructure analysis after *** results show that seepage in the sliding zone soil does not follow Darcy’s Law,since there is a threshold hydraulic gradient(i0)below which no flow is observed and a critical hydraulic gradient(icr)over which the hydraulic conductivity(K)tends to be *** percentage of bound water could be responsible for the occurrence of i0 and ***,pore size distributions(PSD)less than 0.6µm and between 10 and 90µm exhibit positive and negative correlations with the i0,respectively,indicating that the i0 is related to the *** mechanism accounting for this result is that pore water pressure forces fine clay particles into the surrounding large pores and converts arranged particles to discretely distributed ones,thereby weakening the connectivity of *** seepages in the sliding zones behave differently from that in the sliding mass and sliding bed in response to the permeability.

Lipid concentration and composition in xylem sap of woody angiosperms from a tropical savanna and a seasonal rainforest

Lipids may play an important role in preventing gas embolisms by coating nanobubbles in xylem *** studies on xylem sap lipids have been reported for temperate plants,and it remain unclear whether sap lipids have adaptational significance in tropical *** this study,we quantify the lipid composition of xylem sap for angiosperm species from a tropical savanna(seven species)and a seasonal rainforest(five species)using mass *** found that all twelve species studied contained lipids in their xylem sap,including galactolipids,phospholipids and triacylglycerol,with a total lipid concentration ranging from 0.09 to 0.26 nmol/*** was no difference in lipid concentration or composition between plants from the two sites,and the lipid concentration was negatively related to species’open vessel ***,savanna species showed little variation in lipid composition between the dry and the rainy *** results support the hypothesis that xylem sap lipids are derived from the cytoplasm of individual conduit cells,remain trapped inside individual conduits,and undergo few changes in composition over consecutive seasons.A xylem sap lipidomic data set,which includes 12 tropical tree species from this study and 11 temperate tree species from literature,revealed no phylogenetic signals in lipid composition for these *** study fills a knowledge gap in the lipid content of xylem sap in tropical trees and provides additional support for their common distribution in xylem sap of woody *** appears that xylem sap lipids have no adaptive significance.

Overview of computation strategies on the dispersion analysis for explicit finite difference solution of acoustic wave equation

Finite-difference(FD) method is the most extensively employed numerical modeling technique. Nevertheless, when using the FD method to simulate the seismic wave propagation, the large spatial or temporal sampling interval can lead to dispersion errors and numerical instability. In the FD scheme, the key factor in determining both dispersion errors and stability is the selection of the FD weights. Thus,How to obtain appropriate FD weights to guarantee a stable numerical modeling process with minimum dispersion error is critical. The FD weights computation strategies can be classified into three types based on different computational ideologies, window function strategy, optimization strategy, and Taylor expansion strategy. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive overview of these three strategies by presenting their fundamental theories. We conduct a set of comparative analyses of their strengths and weaknesses through various analysis tests and numerical modelings. According to these comparisons, we provide two potential research directions of this field: Firstly, the development of a computational strategy for FD weights that enhances stability; Secondly, obtaining FD weights that exhibit a wide bandwidth while minimizing dispersion errors.

Plants produce secondary chemicals that may vary along with latitude due to changing abiotic and biotic stress gradients and local environmental *** apart the individual and combined effects of these different abiotic,such as soil nutrients,and biotic factors,such as soil biota and herbivores,on secondary chemicals is critical for understanding plant responses to changing *** conducted an experiment at different latitudes in China,using tallow tree(Triadica sebifera)seedlings sourced from a population at 31°*** seedlings were cultivated in gardens located at low,middle and high latitudes,with either local soil or soil from the original seed collection site(origin soil).The seedlings were exposed to natural levels of aboveground herbivores or had them *** secondary chemicals(both foliar and root),aboveground herbivores and soil characteristics were *** showed that most leaf and root secondary metabolites depended on the interaction of the experimental site and soil *** and root phenolic and tannin concentrations were higher at the middle latitude site,especially in the origin *** and foliar flavonoid concentrations increased when aboveground herbivores were *** communities depended strongly on soil *** different responses of tannins versus flavonoids suggest that these two chemical classes differ in their responses to the varying abiotic and biotic factors in these sites along *** together,our results emphasize the importance of considering the interactive effects of local environmental conditions,soil properties and herbivory in regulating plant chemical defenses.

How to optimize and regulate the distribution of phosphoric acid in matrix,and pursuing the improved electrochemical performance and service lifetime of high temperature proton exchange membrane （HT-PEMs） fuel cell are significant ***,bifunctional poly （p-terphenyl-co-isatin piperidinium） copolymer with tethered phosphonic acid （t-PA） and intrinsic tertiary amine base groups are firstly prepared and investigated as *** distinctive architecture of the copolymer provides a well-designed platform for rapid proton *** not only transports through the hydrogen bond network formed by the adsorbed free phosphoric acid （f-PA）anchored by the tertiary amine base groups,but also rely upon the proton channel constructed by the ionic cluster formed by the t-PA *** the design of the structure,the bifunctional copolymers with lower PA uptake level （<100%） display prominent proton conductivities and peak power densities (99 mS cm-1,812 mW cm-2at 160℃),along with lower PA leaching and higher voltage stability,which is a top leading result in disclosed *** results demonstrate that the design of intermolecular acid-base-pairs can improve the proton conductivity without sacrificing the intrinsic chemical stability or mechanical property of the thin membrane,realizing win-win demands between the mechanical robustness and electrochemical properties of HT-PEMs.

Correlative Mn-Co catalyst excels Pt in oxygen reduction reaction of quasi-solid-state zinc-air batteries

Zn-air batteries(ZABs)as a class of promising energy storage setups are generally powered by efficient and robust catalysts at the oxygen-involving *** the existing non-noble catalysts have outperformed noble Pt benchmark in the alkaline liquid-state ZABs,to the best of our knowledge few have excelled Pt in quasi-solid-state(QSS)***,we found that an integrated Mn-Co cathode derived from the bimetallic Mn/Co metal organic frameworks generates a 1.4-fold greater power density in the QSS ZABs than a Pt cathode while its power density in liquid-state ZABs is only 0.8-fold of the ***,such Mn-Co catalyst delivers high-rate oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)capability with half-wave potential of 0.84 *** in-depth characterizations and analyses have demonstrated that the Co and Mn species show the specific affinity towards H_(2)O and O_(2),respectively,synergizing the ORR process in the water-deficient environment of QSS *** work has enlightened the rational design of non-noble metal catalysts to improve the power density of QSS ZABs.

Synthesis and reactivity of cobalt dinitrogen complex supported by nonsymmetrical pincer ligand

A nonsymmetrical PNN pincer ligand[6-(^(t)Bu_(2)PNH)C_(5)H_(4)N-2-(3-Mes)C_(3)H_(2)N_(2)]and its corresponding cobalt-N_(2)complex were synthesized and *** the stoichiometric reaction of the PNN ligand lithium salt with CoCl_(2),the complex 3,(PNN)CoCl,was ***,reduction of 3 with NaBHEt3under a dinitrogen atmosphere yielded complex 5,(PNN)Co(Ⅰ)(η^(1)-N_(2)).Single-crystal X-ray analysis,IR spectrum,and DFT calculations revealed that the dinitrogen in 5 was only weakly reduced by the cobalt *** reactions of 5 with carbon monoxide and 2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide gave carbonyl and isocyanide complexes 6 and 7 with the release of N_(2),***,these cobalt complexes,especially complex 5,demonstrated the capacity to convert dinitrogen to N(TMS)_(3)with moderate efficiency.
