A new alkylene dihydrofuran glycoside（1） was isolated from the root bark ofMorus alba L.,along with moracin M-3′-O-β-D-glucopyranoside （2）,and moracin M-6,3′-di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside（3）.Compound 1 was identified as 2-methylene-3-methoxy-2, 5-dihydrofuran-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic data including 1D and 2D NMR spectral *** addition,the antioxidant activity of 1 was evaluated using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl（DPPH） and 2,2′-azinobis- 3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid（ABTS） *** IC_（50） values were 2.49 and 0.45 mg/mL,respectively.

In this report, we demonstrate that sodium hydrosulfide （NariS）, a hydrogen sulfide （H2S） donor, promoted adventitious root formation mediated by auxin and nitric oxide （NO）. Application of the HzS donor to seedling cuttings of sweet potato （Ipomoea batatas L.） promoted the number and length of adventitious roots in a dose-dependent manner. It was also verified that H2S or HS- rather than other sulfur-containing components derived from NariS could be attributed to the stimulation of adventitious root formation. A rapid increase in endogenous H2S, indole acetic acid （IAA） and NO were sequentially observed in shoot tips of sweet potato seedlings treated with HallS. further investigation showed that H2S-mediated root formation was alleviated by N-1-naphthylphthalamic acid （NPA）, an IAA transport inhibitor, and 2-（4-carboxyphenyl）. 4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-0xide （cPTIO）, an NO scavenger. Similar phenomena in H2S donor-dependent root organogenesis were observed in both excised willow （Salix matsudana var. tortuosa Vilm） shoots and soybean （Glycine max L.） seedlings. These results indicated that the process of H2S-induced adventitious root formation was likely mediated by IAA and NO, and that H2S acts upstream of IAA and NO signal transduction pathways.

A novel TU derivative, N-phenyl-N＇-（γ-triethoxysilane）-propyl thiourea （STU）, is prepared and its binary accelerator system is investigated in detail. Compared to the control references, the optimum curing time of NR compounds with STU is the shortest, indicating a more nucleophilic reaction occurs. The Py-GC/MS results present that the phenyl iso- thiocyanate fragment still remains in the NPUSTU compounds with or without extracting treatment, but no silane segment can be found in the vulcanizate with extracting treatment. Vibrations of C=S, NH and aromatic ring in FTIR experiments and a new methyne carbon peak, as well as the peaks of phenyl group of STU, in the solid state 13C-NMR experiments are found in the NR/STU vulcanizate with extracting treatment. Moreover, the crosslinking density of vulcanizates with STU evolves to lower level, indicating the sulfur atom of STU does not contribute to the sulfur crosslinking. Therefore, a new vulcanization kinetic mechanism of STU is propounded that the thiourea groups can graft to the rubber main chains as pendant groups by chemical bonds during the vulcanization process, which is in accordance with the experimental observations quite well.

Glycidyl methaerylate (GMA) is a recently recognized chemical mutagen. In order to explore the mutagenicity and mutagenic process of GMA, plasmid pBR322 was used for in vitro binding, mutant screening, and restriction enzyme mapping. The binding between GMA and DNA in vitro has been verified by means of a spectrophotometric method. When pBR322 and GMAbound pBR322 were used to transform Eschenchia coli HB101, the following results were obtained: (1) The transformation efficiency of GMA-bound pBR322 was much lower than that of pBR322 alone. (2) GMA-bound pBR322 induced phenotype changes in competent cells (i.e., tetracycline-resistance inactivation or ampicillin-resistance inactivation). There were two mutants of pBR322, Ap~RTc~S and Ap~STc~R, in the transformants and a deductive mutant Ap~STc~S in the nontranstormants. (3) All of the selected mutants were stable and heritable. (4) When restriction enzyme maps were used to analyze the mutant Ap~RTc~S, four of seven maps were changed. some sites were shifted to other resistant gene regions, for example, sites of Bgll, EcoRl, Ilindlll. Hinclll, etc., and there was a new recognition site for Hindi (252). We did not observe any DNA fragment insertion or deletion on any maps. Our results suggest that when GMA is covalently linked to the plasmid DNA, it gives rise to a premutagenic lesion of DNA that is converted in vivo into a point mutation. (C)1990 Academic Press, Inc.

Background:Core muscle functional strength training(CMFST)has been reported to reduce injuries to the lower ***,no study has confirmed whether CMFST can reduce the risk of low back pain(LBP).Objective:This study identified the effects of CMFST on the incidence of LBP in military ***,setting,participants and intervention:We performed a prospective,open-label,randomized,controlled study in a population of young healthy male naval recruits from a Chinese basic combat training *** were randomly assigned to either the core group or the control *** additional to normal basic combat training,recruits in the core group underwent a CMFST program for 12 weeks,while recruits in the control group received no extra *** outcome measures:At the beginning of the study and at the 12 th week,the number of participants with LBP was counted,and lumbar muscle endurance was *** addition,when participants complained of LBP,they were assessed using the visual analog scale(VAS)and Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire(RMDQ).Results:A total of 588 participants were included in the final analysis(295 in the core group and 293 in the control group).The incidence of LBP in the control group was about twice that of the core group over the 12-week study(20.8%vs 10.8%,odds ratio:2.161–2.159,Pfunction of LBP during basic military training.

Human thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) system is associated with cancer cell growth and anti-apoptosis process. Effects of 1,2-bis(1,2-benzisoselenazolone-3(2H)-ketone)ethane (BBSKE),a novel TrxR inhibitor,were investigated on human leu-kemia cell lines HL-60 and K562. BBSKE treatment induced cell growth inhibition and apoptosis in both cell lines. Apoptosis induced by BBSKE is through Bcl-2/Bax and caspase-3 pathways. Ehrlich's ascites carcinoma-bearing mice were used to inves-tigate the anti-tumor effect of BBSKE in vivo. Tumor-bearing mice treated with BBSKE showed an increase of life span with a comparable effect to cyclophosphamide (CTX). These results suggest a potential usage of BBSKE as a therapeutic agent against non-solid tumors.

One new sorbicillin derivative, 2-deoxy-sohirnone C(1), one new diketopiperazine alkaloid, 5 S-hydroxynorvalineS-Ile(2), and two naturally occurring diketopiperazines, 3 S-hydroxylcyclo(S-Pro-S-Phe)(3) and cyclo(S-Phe-S-Gln)(4), together with three known compounds were isolated from the Chinese mangrove endophytic fungus Penicillium sp. GD6. Their structures were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses and by comparison with literature data. The absolute configuration of 3-hydroxyl moiety in 3 was determined by Mosher's method, while the absolute stereochemistry of 2 and 4 was established by comparison with the CD spectra of natural and synthesized diketopiperazines. Compound 1 showed moderate antibacterial activity against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus with a MIC value of 80 μg·m L^(-1).

Currently the most effective clinical management for serious intractable chyluria is renal pedicle lymphatic disconnection, which generally consists of nephrolympholysis, renal hilar lymphatic vessel stripping and ureterolympholysis. In most conventional open surgical procedures, a lumbar incision is used and perinephrium and adipose capsule of kidney cut open, resulting in a heavy injury and long interval of postoperative recovery. The laparoscopic technique, with minimal invasion, less complications and rapid postoperative recovery, is being utilized more and more as the alternative surgical technique for urological disease.
