Giant intrinsic chiro-optical activity in planar dielectric nanostructures

The strong optical chirality arising from certain synthetic metamaterials has important and widespread applications in polarization optics,stereochemistry and ***,these intrinsically chiral metamaterials are restricted to a complicated three-dimensional(3D)geometry,which leads to significant fabrication challenges,particularly at visible *** planar two-dimensional(2D)counterparts are limited by symmetry considerations to operation at oblique angles(extrinsic chirality)and possess significantly weaker chiro-optical responses close to normal ***,we address the challenge of realizing strong intrinsic chirality from thin,planar dielectric *** notably,we experimentally achieve near-unity circular dichroism with~90%of the light with the chosen helicity being transmitted at a wavelength of 540 *** is the highest value demonstrated to date for any geometry in the visible *** interpret this result within the charge-current multipole expansion framework and show that the excitation of higher-order multipoles is responsible for the giant circular *** experimental results enable the realization of high-performance miniaturized chiro-optical components in a scalable manner at optical frequencies.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is an aggressive tumor that usually occurs in patients with chronic liver disease and *** resection is an optimal treatment for HCC,but the 5-year recurrence rates are significantly *** majority of recurrent HCCs occur through intrahepatic metastasis with local tumor progression,and less than 20%of recurrences are extrahepatic *** with gastric metastasis is extremely rare,and it is easily misdiagnosed as primary gastric cancer with liver *** 80-yearold male chronic hepatitis B virus carrier had received lamivudine and entecavir for years and was regularly followed up in the *** had a 3.5 cm solitary HCC with microvascular invasion and received curative surgical resection in *** 2013,he developed a 1.3 cm solitary HCC again and was treated with combination therapy with radiofrequency ablation and pure ethanol ***,he was followed every 3–6 months and was *** years later,in 2016,endoscopy for intermittent epigastralgia showed a solitary 4 cm intraluminal gastric subepithelial tumor without mucosal ulcers or erosions over the gastric *** imaging studies,including computed tomography,favored the diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST),but the pathology of the tumor proved to be *** patient did not receive any systemic anticancer therapy but only wedge resection of the stomach and remained tumor-and HCC-free until his latest clinic visit in *** current case is unique and indicates the possibility of HCC with late solitary gastric metastasis mimicking *** gastric tumor resection ensured an extremely good outcome for the patient,which is different from the devastating prognosis of most cases of HCC with gastric metastasis.

The remarkable narrow-band emission of trivalent lanthanide-doped phosphors excited by the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV)radiation lines of Xe atoms/Xe_(2) molecules at 147/172 nm are extensively investigated in the development of plasma display panels and Hg-free fluorescent lamps,which are frequently used in our daily *** solid materials,particularly Tb^(3+)-doped oxides,such as silicates,phosphates and borates,are efficient green/blue sources with color-tunable *** excitation wavelength and rare earth concentration are usually varied to optimize efficiency and the luminescent ***,some underlying mechanisms for the shift in the emission colors remain *** present study shows that a UV/VUV switch systematically controls the change in the phosphor(Ba_(3)Si_(6)O_(12)N_(2):Tb)photoluminescence from green to blue,resulting in a green emission when the system is excited with UV ***,a blue color is observed when the radiation wavelength shifts to the VUV ***,a configurational coordinate model is proposed for the color-reversal *** this model,the dominant radiative decay results in a green emission under low-energy UV excitation from the ^(5)D_(4) state of the f–f inner-shell transition in the Tb ***,under high-energy VUV excitation,the state switches into the ^(5)D_(3) state,which exhibits a blue *** mechanism is expected to be generally applicable to Tb-doped phosphors and useful in adjusting the optical properties against well-known cross-relaxation processes by varying the ratio of the green/blue contributions.

Optical storage devices, such as compact disk （CD） and digital versatile disc （DVD）, provide us a platform for cheap and compact information storage media. Nowadays, information we obtain every day keeps increasing, and therefore how to increase the storage capacity becomes an important issue. In this paper, we reported a method for the increase of the capacity of optical storage devices using metallic nano-structures. Metallic nano-structures exhibit strong variations in their reflectance and/or transmittance spectra accompanied with dramatic optical phase modulation due to localized surface plasmon polariton resonances. Two samples were fabricated for the demonstration of storage capacity enhancement through amplitude modulation and phase modulation, respectively. This work is promising for high-density optical storage.

Bessel beams are of great interest due to their unique non-diffractive *** a conical prism or an objective paired with an annular aperture are two typical approaches for generating zeroth-order Bessel ***,the former approach has a limited numerical aperture(NA),and the latter suffers from low efficiency,as most of the incident light is blocked by the ***,an additional phase-modulating element is needed to generate higher-order Bessel beams,which in turn adds complexity and bulkiness to the *** overcome these problems using dielectric metasurfaces to realize meta-axicons with additional functionalities not achievable with conventional *** demonstrate meta-axicons with high NA up to 0.9 capable of generating Bessel beams with full width at half maximum about as small as~λ/3(λ=405 nm).Importantly,these Bessel beams have transverse intensity profiles independent of wavelength across the visible *** meta-axicons can enable advanced research and applications related to Bessel beams,such as laser fabrication,imaging and optical manipulation.

目的:材料挤出成型增材制造技术在成形质量与加工效率方面仍有很大的提升空间。本文通过探究成形过程中的关键参数(打印速度和施加气压)对挤出丝宽的影响,研究实现可变丝宽的方法,提出自适应丝宽在提升工艺方面的应用,从而提高该工艺的适用性。创新点:1.通过实验与物理模型结合的方法,推导关键参数与丝宽的函数关系;2.基于增材制造技术的工艺特点,提出自适应丝宽在该工艺中的典型应用。方法:1.通过物理模型分析与数学推导,构建挤出丝宽与关键过程参数的函数关系,得到众多过程参数中对丝宽影响最为显著的两个参数;2.通过实验分析与对比,对构建的数学模型进行验证;3.提出自适应可变丝宽的实现方法及典型应用的实施方案。结论:1.挤出成型增材制造技术可以通过参数调节获得可控的挤出丝宽;2.两大关键工艺参数与丝宽之间存在关联函数;3.运用自适应可变丝宽可以提高工艺的适用性。

Glass catfish(Kryptopterus vitreolus)are notable in the aquarium trade for their highly transparent body *** transparency is due to the loss of most reflective iridophores and light-absorbing melanophores in the main body,although certain black and silver pigments remain in the face and *** date,however,the molecular mechanisms underlying this transparent phenotype remain largely *** explore the genetic basis of this transparency,we constructed a chromosome-level haplotypic genome assembly for the glass catfish,encompassing 32 chromosomes and 23344 protein-coding genes,using PacBio and Hi-C sequencing technologies and standard assembly and annotation *** revealed a premature stop codon in the putative albinism-related tyrp1b gene,encoding tyrosinase-related protein 1,rendering it a nonfunctional ***,a synteny comparison with over 30 other fish species identified the loss of the endothelin-3(edn3b)gene in the glass catfish *** investigate the role of edn3b,we generated edn3b^(−/−)mutant zebrafish,which exhibited a remarkable reduction in black pigments in body surface stripes compared to wild-type *** findings indicate that edn3b loss contributes to the transparent phenotype of the glass *** high-quality chromosome-scale genome assembly and identification of key genes provide important molecular insights into the transparent phenotype of glass *** findings not only enhance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying transparency in glass catfish,but also offer a valuable genetic resource for further research on pigmentation in various animal species.

We prepared 300-nm GeTe thin films on(111)-oriented and piezoelectrically active 0.71 Pb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)-0.29PbTiO_(3)(PMN-0.29 PT)single-crystal substrates by the pulsed laser deposition and investigated the effects of in situ electric-field-controllable non-180ferroelastic domain switching of the PMN-0.29 PT on the electronic properties of the GeTe *** in-plane strain of the PMN-0.29 PT could be modulated continuously and reversibly by electric fields in a nonvolatile manner and could be effectively transferred to the GeTe *** on this,we realized reversible and nonvolatile resistance switching and obtained multilevel stable nonvolatile resistance states with good stability and endurance at T=300 K by applying appropriate asymmetrical bipolar electric fields to the PMN-0.29 PT(111)substrates along the thickness *** heterostructures may be used for multilevel data storage that allows each unit to store multiple bits of information and thus improve the memory *** investigation would be beneficial for the fabrication of nonvolatile memory devices using PMN-xPT-based heterostructures.

Short-term results of carotid stenting for the treatment of extracranial carotid occlusive disease

Carotid artery angioplasty and stenting （CAS） has been performed with increasing frequency for the treatment of extracranial carotid occlusive diseases （ECOD） in recent years. Its feasibility and safety are supported by the Stenting and Angioplasty with Protection in Patient at High Risk for Endarterectomy （SAPPHIRE） trial,1 which revealed a lower incidence of death, stroke and myocardial infarction compared with carotid endarterectomy （CEA） in high-risk patients. However, it is a pity that up to now, initial results of this endovascular procedure have yet been infrequently documented in China. This retrospective study was to analyze the short-term results of CAS to treat ECOD in a single medical center.
