Feasibility and safety of vaginal myomectomy:analysis of 90 cases

Background Vaginal myomectomy was firstly reported in 1994, however, it is a relatively new technique in China. The feasibility and safety of the procedure is still controversial in this country. The aim of this study was to analyze the outcomes of vaginal myomectomy in 90 patients and to investigate the feasibility and safety of the surgery. Methods From June 2001 to June 2004, 90 patients with uterine leiomyoma were treated with vaginal myomectomy in our hospital （vaginal group）. The indications, operative performance, postoperative complications, and recovery of the patients were analyzed and compared with those of 93 patients with uterine leiomyoma treated by laparotomic myomectomy from January 2000 to January 2001 （laparotomy group）. The Student＇s t test was used to compare the continuous variables between the two groups, and the chi-square test was used to compare the categorical variables. The vaginal and laparotomy groups were followed up for 10-34 months （median, 21） and 15-24 months （median, 30）, respectively. Results Vaginal myomectomy was performed successfully in 87 of the 90 patients （96.7%）. In the other 3 patients, the procedure failed and laparotomy was carded out. In both groups, the uterus was enlarged to 8-16 weeks gestational size （median, 10 gestational weeks）. The number of resected tumors was 1 - 12 （median, 2） in the vaginal group and 1-15 （median, 4） in the laparotomy group, respectively （P〉0.05）. The mean operating time, intraoperative blood loss, and postoperative hospital stay were （52± 21） minutes, （230± 44） ml, and （7.0±1.2） days in the vaginal group, and （654±32） minutes, （200±56） ml, and （7.04±1.5） days in the laparotomy group （P〉0.05）. The mean top postoperative temperature was （38.44±1.1）℃ and （37.8±0.6）℃ in the two groups respectively （P〈0.05）. Both groups had one recurrent case during the follow-up （P〉0.05）. Background:The type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)pharmacodynamic study of various parts of Schisandra sphenanthera was conducted in the previous stage,and it was found that dichloromethane extracted part(SDP)had a significant hypoglycemic ***,the components of SDP were analyzed,and the specific mechanism of its anti-T2DM was ***:We used a high-fat,high-sugar diet in combination with streptozotocin to induce a T2DM rat model,and the model rats were divided into two groups according to body weight and blood ***,oral glucose tolerance test,fasting blood glucose,low density lipoprotein cholesterol,superoxide dismutase,insulin,glycated hemoglobin,total cholesterol,nonesterified free fatty acids,alanine aminotransferase,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,aspartate aminotransferase,malondialdehyde,and glutathione peroxidase were measured,organ indices were calculated,and pathological sections of pancreas and liver were *** 16S rRNA V3–V4 region of intestinal flora was sequenced to explore the effect of SDP on biochemical indicators and intestinal *** on the above indicators,the anti-T2DM mechanism of SDP in Schisandra sphenanthera was ***:After six weeks of administration,the biochemical indices of diabetic rats were diminished compared to the control *** SDP could significantly increase the gut microbialα-diversity index,resulting in significant changes in the flora of T2DM rats,with increased richness and diversity,reduced harmful flora,and significantly back-regulated the levels of acetic acid,propionic acid,and butyric ***:SDP can improve the symptoms associated with elevated blood glucose,dyslipidemia,elevated fasting insulin levels,and damaged glucose tolerance in *** against T2DM may be through the control of intestinal flora to normalize and exert anti-diabetic effect;its main active components may be lignans and terpenoids.

Fabrication of 6FDA-HFBAPP Polyimide Asymmetric Hollow Fiber Membranes and Their CO2/CH4 Separation Properties

In this work, poly(amide acid) solution, the precursor of polyimide, was synthesized by the reaction of 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalicanhydride and 2,2-bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]-hexafluoropropanane in the solvent of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP) and tetrahydrofuran(THF). Then, hollow fiber membranes for high flux gas separation were prepared by dry-jet wet spinning using the precursor solution of poly(amide acid) as the spinning dope and a subsequent imidization process. Silicone rubber was further coated outside the obtained hollow fiber membranes to repair the defects on the denser layer. The effects of internal, external coagulation bath ratios with air gap, and coating solution concentrations on the morphologies, structures, and separation performance of the membranes were studied. Results showed that the sponge-like support layer was formed when the content of NMP was increased from 50% to 90% in the internal coagulation bath. The outer surface of the membrane became denser when the water content in the external coagulation bath increased from 40% to 100%, and the separation coefficient of CO2/CH4 increased by 2 times. This value could reach up to 1.4 when the air gap was 6 cm. With tuning the mass fraction of silicone rubber as 5%, hollow fiber composite membranes with uniform coating layer and an improved separation coefficient of 5.4 could be obtained.

We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

Erosion-corrosion investigation of high chromium cast irons using newly designed jet type tester

A jet type erosion-corrosion tester was developed for the erosion-corrosion investigation of high-chromium cast irons. During tests the size and the shape of particles in the slurry can be maintained stable. The jet velocity and attack angle can be accurately controlled. The repeatability and ranking consistency of the test results are satisfactory. The test parameters can be adjusted in a wide range, so that the tester can simulate various practical working conditions. Electrochemical test data can be automatically collected and processed. Dynamic polarization curves can be obtained during erosion-corrosion test, which can be used to study the dynamic corrosion *** high chromium cast irons were studied in hot concentrated alkaline slurry. The results show that the erosioncorrosion mass loss rate and dynamic corrosion rate of 295Cr26 iron is lower than that of 185Cr13 under the conditions similar to alumyte processing. The mechanism of erosion-corrosion of 295Cr26 and 185Cr13 was studied by using the tester. The interaction between erosion and corrosion was also quantitatively evaluated.

Protective effects of Salvia miltiorrhizae on the hearts of rats with severe acute pancreatits or obstructive jaundice

Objective： To investigate the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of Salvia miltiorrhizae （Danshen） in the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis （SAP）- or obstructive jaundice （OJ）-induced heart injury. Methods： A total of 288 rats were used for SAP- （n= 108） and O J-associated （n= 180） experiments. The rats were randomly divided into sham-operated, model control, and Salvia miltiorrhizae-treated groups. According to the difference of time points after operation, SAP rats in each group were subdivided into 3, 6 and 12 h subgroups （n=12）, whereas OJ rats were subdivided into 7, 14, 21, and 28 d subgroups （n=lS）. At the corresponding time points after operation, the mortality rates of the rats, the contents of endotoxin and phospholipase A2 （PLA：） in blood, and pathological changes of the hearts were investigated. Results： The numbers of dead SAP and OJ rats in the treated groups declined as compared with those in the model control group, but not significantly （P〉0.05）. The contents ofendotoxin （at 6 and 12 h in SAP rats and on 7, 14, 21, and 28 d in OJ rats, respectively） and PLA2 （at 6 and 12 h in SAP rats and on 28 d in OJ rats, respectively） in the treated group were significantly lower than those in the model control group （P〈0.01 and P〈0.001, respectively）. Besides, myocardial pathological injuries were mitigated in SAP and OJ rats. Conclusion： In this study, we found that Salvia rniltiorrhizae improved myocardial pathological changes, reduced the content of PLA2 in blood, and decreased the mortality rates of SAP and OJ rats, exerting protective effects on the hearts of the rats.

Through neodymium-mediated coordinative chain transfer copolymerizaiton(CCTcoP),polyisoprenes bearing dual hydroxylated mini-blocky chain-ends were prepared via a three-step *** studies revealed that,the polymerization demonstrated typical features of CCTcoP across the whole polymerization process,i.e.,quasi-living polymerization characteristic,tunable molecular weights,narrow molecular weight distributions,and atom *** to previously reported CCTP homopolymerization systems,the presence of oxygen-containing IpOAl polar comonomer slowed down chain transfer rates obviously,rendering slightly higher molecular weights of the resultant PIps and smaller Np(number of polymer chains per Nd atom)***,to mimic the structure of natural rubber,the hydroxyl end groups can be facilely modified into phosphonate,amide,and UPy,whose structures were further confirmed by NMR *** these functionalities could greatly improve the hydrophilic properties of the polymers,as revealed from the significantly reduced static water contact angles.

The effect of N_(2)-plasma-treated SiO_(2) interfacial layer on the interfacial and electrical characteristics of HfO_(2)/SiO_(2)/p-Si stacks grown by atomic layer deposition(ALD) was *** microstructure and interfacial chemical bonding configuration of the HfO_(2)/SiO_(2)/Si stacks were also examined by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).Compared with the samples without N2-plasma treatment,it is found that the samples with N2-plasma treatment have less oxygen vacancy density for SiO_(2) interfacial layer and better HfO_(2)/SiO_(2) *** agreement with XPS analyses,electrical measurements of the samples with N2-plasma treatment show better interfacial quality,including lower interface-state density(Dit,9.3 × 1011 cm^(-2)·eV^(-1) near midgap) and lower oxidecharge density(Q_(ox),2.5 × 1012 cm^(-2)),than those of the samples without N_(2)-plasma ***,the samples with N_(2)-plasma treatment have better electrical performances,including higher saturation capacitance density(1.49 μF·cm^(-2)) and lower leakage current density(3.2 × 10^(-6) A·cm^(-2) at V_(g)=V_(fb)-1 V).Furthermore,constant voltage stress was applied on the gate electrode to investigate the reliability of these *** shows that the samples with N_(2)-plasma treatment have better electrical stability than the samples without N_(2)-plasma treatment.
