A novel nano-grade organosilicon polymer:Improving airtightness of compressed air energy storage in hard rock formations

Enhancing cavern sealing is crucial for improving the efficiency of compressed air energy storage(CAES)in hard rock *** study introduced a novel approach using a nano-grade organosilicon polymer(NOSP)as a sealant,coupled with an air seepage evaluation model that incorporates Knudsen ***,the initial coating application methods were outlined,and the advantages of using NOSP compared to other sealing materials,particularly regarding cost and construction techniques,were also examined and *** results indicated a significant reduction in permeability of rock specimens coated with a 7–10μm thick NOSP ***,under a 0.5 MPa pulse pressure,the permeability decreased to less than 1 n D,and under a 4 MPa pulse pressure,it ranged between4.5×10^(-6)–5.5×10^(-6)m D,marking a 75%–80%decrease in granite *** sealing efficacy of NOSP surpasses concrete and is comparable to rubber *** optimal viscosity for application lies between 95 and 105 KU,and the coating thickness should ideally range from 7 to 10μm,applied to substrates with less than 3%*** study provides new insights into air transport and sealing mechanisms at the pore level,proposing NOSP as a cost-effective and simplified solution for CAES applications.

Nonprecious-metal-group single-metal-atom catalysts with bifunctional catalytic capabilities toward the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)are highly sought after in energy-conversion and storage ***,producing renewable and sustainable energy sources remains ***,single-transition metal atoms anchored onπ-πconjugated two-dimensional(2D)graphitic carbon nitride substrates formπ-d conjugated conductive channels that enhance the overall electrocatalytic ***,firstprinciples calculations were carried out to design and demonstrate a novel macropore graphitic carbon nitride(gC_(10)N_(3))as a promising 2D electrocatalyst substrate to support single-transition metal(TM,from Sc to Au).The"donation-acceptance"charge interaction in the TM-N_(2)moiety effectively balances the adsorption strength of oxygenated intermediates in Ni@g-C_(10)N_(3)and Rh@gC_(10)N_3,making them effective bifunctional OER/ORR electrocatalysts with IrO_(2)/Pt-beyond overpotentials being as low as 0.39/0.38 V and 0.54/0.44 V,***,they possess high stability and conductivity and are less susceptible to oxidation and corrosion under working *** guarantees high activity under ambient ***,the origin of the OER/ORR activity of TM@g-C_(10)N_(3) is explained using multilevel descriptors:intrinsic(p,Bader charge,integral crystal orbital Hamilton population(ICOHP),bond length,and d-band center(εd).In particular,for optimal Ni@g-C_(10)N_(3),the clear hybridization between the Ni-d orbital and surface O-p orbital causes the paired electrons to occupy the bonding *** enables OH~*to be adsorbed on the Ni@g-C_(10)N_(3),thereby achieving the highest catalytic performance.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)as green battery systems have attracted widespread attention in large-scale electrochemical energy storage devices,owing to their high safety,abundant Zn materials,high theoretica specific capacity and low redox *** there are some thorny issues in AZIBs that hinder their practical application,such as low intrinsic electron conductivity,slow ion migration kinetics,zinc dendrites and side ***-based materials with superior conductivity,large polar surface and abundant active sites can simultaneously serve as cathode materials,electrolyte additive and protection layer of anode to regulate redox reactions of *** various materials have been used to improve electrochemical performances of AZIBs there is a lack of in-depth discussion on the regulation mechanism of MXene-based materials for *** this review,we elaborate the research progress of MXenebased materials in AZIBs,including their application in cathode materials and inhibition of zinc *** the future prospects and development directions of MXenebased materials that may improve performance of AZIBs are prospected.

Highly efficient and stable 2D/3D perovskite solar cells based on surface reconstruction and energy level alignment

Realizing simultaneous adjustment of energy levels and work functions in two-dimensional/three-dimensional（2D/3D） perovskite solar cells（PSCs） is a challenge. Here, a pseudohalide 3,5-bis（trifluoromethyl） benzylammonium tetrafluoroborate（TFPMABF4） was used to react with unreacted Pb I2on the surface of 3D bulky perovskite to form a mixed halide of 2D perovskite denoted（TF-PMA）2FA2Pb3I8（BF4）2. This novel 2D/3D perovskite enables the simultaneous adjustment of energy levels and work functions on the surface of active layers. Due to the significantly enhanced quality of 2D/3D perovskite film, decreased surface defects and increased charge carrier lifetime, the 2D/3D PSCs exhibit an outstanding power conversion efficiency（PCE）of 25.15% and a high VOCof 1.194 V. Importantly, 2D/3D PSCs exhibit remarkable enhancements in environmental stability,unencapsulated devices retaining more than 90% of their initial PCE at 50% humidity for 2,280 h.

Synergistic enhancement of ultrasound therapy for tumors using hypoxia-activated 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine(DON)prodrug nanoparticles

Ultrasound(US)has been applied in clinical practice for its non-invasive and high ***,it is difficult to achieve a satisfactory anti-tumor effect with US ***,the use of US therapy alone can exacerbate tumor *** this study,we prepared hypoxia-activated 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine(DON)prodrug nanoparticles(HDON-NPs)to improve US therapeutic *** an H22 murine liver cancer model,US therapy selectively disrupted tumor blood vessels,leading to increased tumor hypoxia and a 1.67-fold increase in the expression of nitroreductase(NTR).The combination therapy of US and HDON-NPs demonstrated a synergistic effect,resulting in a tumor suppression rate(TSR)of 90.2%±6.4%,which was 5.93-fold higher than that of US therapy *** combined treatment selectively blocked the glutamine metabolism of the tumor cells while simultaneously activating the T cells in the tumor microenvironment,thereby exerting a robust anti-tumor effect.

Image Segmentation-P300 Selector: A Brain–Computer Interface System for Target Selection

Brain–computer interface (BCI) systems, such as the P300 speller, enable patients to express intentions withoutnecessitating extensive ***, the complexity of operational instructions and the slow pace of characterspelling pose challenges for some patients. In this paper, an image segmentation P300 selector based on YOLOv7-mask and DeepSORT is proposed. The proposed system utilizes a camera to capture real-world objects forclassification and tracking. By applying predefined stimulation rules and object-specificmasks, the proposed systemtriggers stimuli associated with the objects displayed on the screen, inducing the generation of P300 signals in thepatient’s brain. Its video processing mechanism enables the system to identify the target the patient is focusing oneven if the object is partially obscured, overlapped, moving, or changing in number. The system alters the target’scolor display, thereby conveying the patient’s intentions to caregivers. The data analysis revealed that the selfrecognitionaccuracy of the subjects using this method was between 92% and 100%, and the cross-subject P300recognition precision was 81.9%–92.1%. This means that simple instructions such as “Do not worry, just focuson what you desire” effectively discerned the patient’s intentions using the Image Segmentation-P300 selector. Thisapproach provides cost-effective support and allows patients with communication difficulties to easily express theirneeds.

To the Editor:Actinic keratosis(AK)is a precancerous skin condition caused by chronic exposure to ultraviolet *** mainly occurs on sun-exposed areas like the head and face,leading to cosmetic concerns and an increased risk of progressing to primary squamous cell carcinoma(with a 0.60%risk at 1 year and 2.57%risk at 4 years).[1]Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a targeted,non-invasive therapy that has been approved in Europe for the treatment of AK,squamous cell carcinoma in situ,and basal cell carcinomas.5-Aminolaevulinic acid(ALA)-based PDT,which utilizes the photosensitizer ALA,has shown high cure rates,low recurrence rates,and favorable cosmetic outcomes as arst-line treatment for AK.[1]However,due to variations in skin color,ethnicity,and lifestyle habits,the incidence of AK is lower among Asians compared to Caucasians.[1]There are limited clinical studies on PDT for AK in Asia—particularly lacking large-scale multicenter *** knowledge gap hinders the establishment of treatment standards specically tailored for Asian patients with AK undergoing ***,as the aging population increases in Asia,the incidence of AK demand for medical intervention among Asians is also rising *** conducted this multicenter study aiming to comprehensively investigate the efcacy and safety of ALA-PDT in Chinese patients with AK.

Architectural singularity belongs to the Type II singularity,in which a parallel manipulator(PM)gains one or more degrees of freedom and becomes *** remaining permanently in a singularity are beneficial for linearto-rotary motion ***-Duffy(GD)platform is a mobile structure admitting a Bricard *** this paper,we present a coordinate-free approach to the design of generalized GD platforms,which consists in determining the shape and attachment of both the moving platform and the fixed *** generalized GD platform is treated as a combination of six coaxial single-loop mechanisms under the same *** to the inversion,hidden in the geometric structure of these single-loop mechanisms,the mapping from a line to a circle establishes the geometric transformation between the fixed base and the moving platform based on the center of inversion,and describes the shape and attachment of the generalized GD ***,the center of inversion not only identifies the location of rotation axis,but also affects the shape of the platform mechanism.A graphical construction of generalized GD platforms using inversion,proposed in the paper,provides geometrically feasible solutions of the manipulator design for the requirement of the location of rotation axis.
