Effect of Fe/Al Hydroxides on Desorption of K^+ and NH_4^+ from Two Soils and Kaolinite

Potassium （K） and nitrogen （N） are essential nutrients for plants. Adsorption and desorption in soils affect K＋ and NH4＋ avail- abilities to plants and can be affected by the interaction between the electrical double layers on oppositely charged particles because the interaction can decrease the surface charge density of the particles by neutralization of positive and negative charges. We studied the effect of iron （Fe）/aluminum （Al） hydroxides on desorption of K＋ and NH4＋ from soils and kaolinite and proposed desorption mechanisms based on the overlapping of diffuse layers between negatively charged soils and mineral particles and the positively charged Fe/Al hydroxide particles. Our results indicated that the overlapping of diffuse layers of electricM double layers between positively charged Fe/Al hydroxides, as amorphous Al（OH）3 or Fe（OH）3, and negatively charged surfaces from an Ultisol, an Alfisol, and a kaolinite standard caused the effective negative surface charge density on the soils and kaolinite to become less negative. Thus the adsorption affinity of these negatively charged surfaces for K＋ and NH4＋ declined as a result of the incorporation of the Fe/Al hydroxi- des. Consequently, the release of exchangeable K＋ and NH4＋ from the surfaces of the soils and kaolinite increased with the amount of the Fe/A1 hydroxides added. The greater the positive charge on the surfaces of Fe/Al hydroxides, the stronger was the interactive effect between the hydroxides and soils or kaolinite, and thus the more release of K＋ and NH4＋. A decrease in pH led to increased positive surface charge on the Fe/Al hydroxides and enhanced interactive effects between the hydroxides and soils/kaolinite. As a result, more K＋ and NH4＋ were desorbed from the soils and kaolinite. This study suggests that the interaction between oppositely charged particles of variable charge soils can enhance the mobility of K＋ and NH4＋ in the soils and thus increase their leaching loss.

A forecasting and forewarning model for methane hazard in working face of coal mine based on LS-SVM

To improve the precision and reliability in predicting methane hazard in working face of coal mine, we have proposed a forecasting and forewarning model for methane hazard based on the least square support vector (LS-SVM) multi-classifier and regression machine. For the forecasting model, the methane concentration can be considered as a nonlinear time series and the time series analysis method is adopted to predict the change in methane concentration using LS-SVM regression. For the forewarning model, which is based on the forecasting results, by the multi-classification method of LS-SVM, the methane hazard was identified to four grades: normal, attention, warning and danger. According to the forewarning results, corresponding measures are taken. The model was used to forecast and forewarn the K9 working face. The results obtained by LS-SVM regression show that the forecast- ing have a high precision and forewarning results based on a LS-SVM multi-classifier are credible. Therefore, it is an effective model building method for continuous prediction of methane concentration and hazard forewarning in working face.

Effect of Thick-Needle Therapy in Patients with Bell's Palsy at Recovery Stage: A Multi-center Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective:To compare the clinical effects of thick-needle therapy(TNT)and acupuncture therapy(AT)on patients with Bell's palsy(BP)at the recovery ***:A total of 146 eligible participants from 3 hospitals in China were randomized into the TNT group(73 cases)and the AT group(73 cases)using a central *** groups received Western medicine thrice a day for 4 ***,patients in the TNT group received subcutaneous insertion of a thick needle into Shendao(GV 11)acupoint,while patients in the AT group received AT at acupoints of Cuanzhu(BL 2),yangbai(GB 14),Dicang(ST 4),Xiaguan(ST 7),Jiache(ST 6),Yingxiang(LI 20)and Hegu(LI 4),4 times a week,for 4 *** groups received 2 follow-up visits,which were arranged at 1 month and 3 months after treatment,*** primary outcome measure was House-Brackmann Facial Nerve Grading System(HBFNGS)*** the clinical recovery rates of both groups were evaluated according to the HBFNGS grades after *** secondary outcome measures included the facial disability index(FDI)and electroneurogram(EnoG).The adverse events were observed and recorded in both ***:Three cases withdrew from the trial,2 in the TNT group and 1 in the AT *** was no significant difference in the clinical recovery rates between the TNT and AT groups after 4-week treatment[40.85%(29/71)vs.34.72%(25/72),P>0.05].At the 2nd follow-up visit,more patients in the TNT group showed reduced HBFNGS grades than those in the AT group(P0.05).Conclusion:The clinical effect of TNT was equivalent to that of AT in patients with BP at recovery stage,while the post-treatment effect of TNT was superior to that of AT.

Role of GA_3,GA_4 and Uniconazole-P in Controlling Gravitropism and Tension Wood Formation in Fraxinus mandshurica Rupr. var. japonica Maxim. Seedlings

GA3 and GA4 （gibberellins） play an important role in controlling gravitropism and tension wood formation in woody angiosperms. In order to improve our understanding of the role of GA3 and GA4 on xylem cell formation and the G-layer, we studied the effect of GA3 and GA4 and uniconazole-P, which is an inhibitor of GA biosynthesis, on tension wood formation by gravity in Fraxinus mandshurica Rupr. var. japonica Maxim. seedlings. Forty seedlings were divided into two groups; one group was placed upright and the other tilted. Each group was further divided into four sub-groups subjected to the following treatments： 3.43 x 10-9 lunol acetone as control, 5.78 x 10-8 lunol gibberellic acid （GA3）, 6.21 x 10-8 lunol GA4, and 6.86 x 10-8 lunol uniconazole-P. During the experimental period, GAs-treated seedlings exhibited negative gravitropism, whereas application of uniconazole-P inhibited negative gravitropic stem bending. GA3 and GA4 promoted wood fibers that possessed a gelatinous layer on the upper side, whereas uniconazole-P inhibited wood formation but did not inhibit the differentiation of the gelatinous layer in wood fibers on the upper side. These results suggest that：（i） both the formation of gelatinous fibers and the quantity of xylem production are important for the negative gravitropism in horizontally-positioned seedlings; （ii） GA3 and GA4 affect wood production more than differentiation of the gelatinous layer in wood fibers; G-layer development may be regulated by other hormones via the indirect-role of GA3 and GA4 in horizontally-positioned F. mandshurica seedlings rather than the direct effect of GAs; and （iii） the mechanism for upward wood stem bending is different to the newly developed shoot bending in reaction to gravity in this species.

An enriched environment improves cognitive performance in mice from the senescence-accelerated prone mouse 8 strain Role of upregulated neurotrophic factor expression in the hippocampus

In this study,we examined 3-month-old female mice from the senescence-accelerated prone mouse 8 strain and age-matched homologous normal aging female mice from the senescence accelerated-resistant mouse 1 *** from each strain were housed in an enriched environment（including a platform,running wheels,tunnel,and some toys）or a standard environment for 3 *** mice housed in the enriched environment exhibited shorter escape latencies and a greater percentage of time in the target quadrant in the Morris water maze test,and they exhibited reduced errors and longer latencies in step-down avoidance experiments compared with mice housed in the standard ***,brain-derived neurotrophic factor mRNA and protein ex- pression in the hippocampus was significantly higher in mice housed in the enriched environment compared with those housed in the standard environment,and the level of hippocampal brain-derived neurotrophic factor protein was positively correlated with the learning and memory abilities of mice from the senescence-accelerated prone mouse 8 *** results suggest that an enriched environment improved cognitive performance in mice form the senescence-accelerated prone mouse 8 strain by increasing brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression in the hippocampus.

Gauge Transformation and Constraint Induced Operator Ordering for Charged Rigid Planar Rotator in Uniform Magnetic Field

When the motion of a particle is constrained, excess terms exist using hermitian form of Cartesian momentum pi （i=1, 2,3） in usual kinetic energy （1/2/μ）∑ pi^2 , and the correct kinetic energy turns out to be （1/2μ） ∑1/ fipi f ipi, where fi are dummy factors in classical mechanics and nontrivial in quantum mechanics. In this paper the explicit form of the dummy functions fi is given for a charged rigid planar rotator in the uniform magnetic field with different gauge chosen. Under different gauges, we have different sets of dummy factors. It means that these factors do not have direct observable effect.

Medication Rule Analysis of the Diagnosis and Treatment Programs of Chinese Medicine for the Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19 in China

Objectives:To summarize the measures and rules of Chinese medicine(CM)and provide reference for clinical application in the prevention and treatment of coronavirus disease(COVID-19).Methods:The data source was from CM COVID-19 prevention and treatment programs on government websites and official media websites of the different provinces and *** search lasted from December 8,2019 to March 10,*** variables were medication frequency and combinations of *** analysis and complex network analysis were used by prevention and treatment stage and by ***:Among 27 CM diagnosis and treatment plans,203 therapeutic prescriptions were enrolled,of which the top 4 herbs were:Radix glycyrrhizae,Semen armeniacae amarum,Herba ephedrae,and Herba agastachis,*** core combinations were Herba ephedrae and Semen armeniacae ***-eight preventive formulae were *** herbs,including Radix Astragali seu hedysari,Radix glycyrrhizae,Radix saposhnikoviae,Flos lonicerae,*** most frequently *** core prescription of CM compatibility was Radix astragali seu hedysari,Radix glycyrrhizae,and Radix saposhnikoviae,which is the main component of Yu ping Feng *** were 45 prevention and treatment prescriptions in East China;the most used CM was Radix glycyrrhizae,Herba agastachis,Pericarpium citri reticulatae,and Gypsum *** prescriptions were identified in North *** to CM analyses,Herba agastachis,Semen armeniacae amarum,Herba ephedrae,and Poria were most frequently ***:CM for COVID-19 prevention mainly focuses on improving human immunity;for treatment,prescription focuses on clearing the lungs and removing *** vary with regions,perhaps due to climatic and environmental differences,which help clinicians to quickly make CM plans and treat patients according to clinical status,further minimizing resource wastage.

Understanding Qi Running in the Meridians as Interstitial Fluid Flowing via Interstitial Space of Low Hydraulic Resistance

Qi, blood and the meridians are fundamental concepts in Chinese medicine（CM）, which are components of the human body and maintain physiological function. Pathological changes of qi, blood and meridians may lead to discomfort and disease. Treatment with acupuncture or herbal medicine aims to regulate qi and blood so as to recover normal function of the meridians. This paper explores the nature of qi as well as compares and correlates them with the structures of the human body. We propose a conceptualization of qi as being similar to the interstitial fluid, and the meridians as being similar to interstitial space of low hydraulic resistance in the body. Hence, qi running in the meridians can be understood as interstitial fluid flowing via interstitial space of low hydraulic resistance.
