The dialogue between the mammalian conceptus(embryo/fetus and associated membranes) involves signaling for pregnancy recognition and maintenance of pregnancy during the critical peri-implantation period of pregnancy when the stage is set for implantation and placentation that precedes fetal development. Uterine epithelial cells secrete and/or transport a wide range of molecules, including nutrients,collectively referred to as histotroph that are transported into the fetal-placental vascular system to support growth and development of the conceptus. The availability of uterine-derived histotroph has long-term consequences for the health and well-being of the fetus and the prevention of adult onset of metabolic diseases. Histotroph includes numerous amino acids, but arginine plays a particularly important role as a source of nitric oxide and polyamines required for fetal-placental development in rodents, swine and humans through mechanisms that remain to be fully elucidated. Mechanisms whereby arginine regulates expression of genes via the mechanistic target of rapamycin cell signaling pathways critical to conceptus development, implantation and placentation are discussed in detail in this review.

Rare earth elements(REEs)are valuable raw materials which are in great demand in modern high technology *** methods to produce/recover REEs from waste is significant to the national security of any developed *** study was focused on investigating the use of supercritical CO2(sCO2)to extract REEs from anthracite acid mine drainage(AMD).Four different mine drainage water source locations at Blaschak Coal *** Pennsylvania,USA were selected for sample *** extraction process was developed and demonstrated for two of those water sources containing the highest concentration of REEs.A method involving metal ion coagulation,their dissolution from the sludge into a concentrated aqueous HNO3 solution,complexation with organic ligands and sCO2 extraction was developed to recover REEs from ***,sodium aluminate(NaAlO2)was used as the coagulant to concentrate REEs from the AMD into a solid ***,over 99%of the REEs in AMD is concentrated in the remaining *** the coagulation process,the effects of pH and NaAlO2 concentration on REE precipitation were *** nitric acid(HNO3)was used to digest the pre-concentrated sludge and tributyl phosphate(TBP)was used to form REE/TBP/HNO3,a non-polar complex with selected REEs,specifically,cerium(Ce),lanthanum(La)and neodymium(Nd).HNO3 concentration and organic/aqueous phase ratio were considered as the variables to improve complexation *** extraction experiments using sCO2 and REE/TBP/HNO3 solutions were then conducted at optimal conditions of 60℃and 20 *** overall REE extraction efficiencies are found to increase with the atomic number of the *** a result,the average overall REE extraction efficiencies of 41.8%,40.1%and 58.2%for Ce,La and Nd,respectively,are *** potential improvements in the overall extraction efficiency are also discussed.

The RHT model has 34 parameters,among which 19 parameters can be obtained by experiments or theoretical calculations and the remaining 15 parameters are difficult to *** this study,firstly,10 Hopkinson impact tests were conducted to acquire the typical stress-strain curves of granite under dynamic *** the sensitivity analysis,it is found that 13 of the 15 difficult-acquired parameters are effective to affect the shape of the stress-strain curve,and the other two parameters have no *** the initial determination of model parameters with reference to the concrete RHT model,a new approach is proposed to optimize the 13 influential parameters through the LS-DYNA numerical simulation and orthogonal ***,the determined granite RHT model parameters are verified by the results of Hopkinson impact tests conducted in this study and the bullet penetration test by wang et *** results of the numerical simulations are in a good agreement with the tested results,which validates the suitability of the proposed method to acquire RHT model parameters for granite and the other rocks.
