Comparison of fondaparinux sodium and low molecular weight heparin in the treatment of hypercoagulability secondary to traumatic infection

Purpose: To compare the effects and side-effects of fondaparinux sodium and low molecular weight heparin in patients with hypercoagulability accompanied with traumatic infection. Methods: Thirty-six patients with post-traumatic infections in our hospital intensive care center were diagnosed with hypercoagulability from February 2012 to February 2013. These patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. In group F (18 patients), the patients were treated with fondaparinux sodium, 2.5 mg, 1/d for 11 d. In group L (18 patients), the patients were treated with low molecular weight heparin, 4100 U, 1/12 h for 11 d. The incidence of deep vein thrombosis, bleeding events and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and mortality of two groups after anticoagulation therapy were analyzed. Fibrinogen, D-dimer level and activity of antithrombin III were measured by the coagulation analyzer. Results: The incidence of deep vein thrombosis, MODS incidence and mortality were not significantly different between the two groups. The rate of bleeding evens in group F was lower than group L ( p 0.05). D-dimer was significantly decreased after anticoagulant therapy for 5 d ( p 0.05). Conclusion: Fondaparinux sodium and low molecular weight heparin can effectively improve coagulopathy in patients with traumatic infection. Compared with low molecular weight heparin, fondaparinux sodium may reduce the risk of bleeding events in patients with hypercoagulability accompanied by traumatic infection.

Primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)is a major cause of visual impairment.Extensive studies have shown that high myopia is a significant risk factor for RRD[1].A bimodal age distribution of RRD has been reported in Chinese populations,with a major peak in the group of 60–69 years old and a smaller peak in the group of 20–29 years old[2].A study in China has revealed a similar distribution and further indicated that the proportion and number of patients with RRD and high myopia peaked at the age range of 20–29 years[3].Correspondingly,a high prevalence of myopia has been reported in Asians aged 20–29 years[4].Thus,patients<30 years with RRD and high myopia require special attention.However,limited studies have been conducted on RRD in young individuals with high myopia.Therefore,this study aimed to describe the clinical characteristics and surgical outcomes of patients<30 years with RRD and high myopia.Furthermore,we focused on various factors that may correlate with surgical outcomes.

Generally,a healthy immune system should be in dynamic balance,which can be maintained by both promoting and resisting inflammation.Lymphocyte apoptosis is indispensable for maintaining homeostasis[1]and participates in the entire process of lymphocyte differentiation,development,maturation,and immune effects.It has been reported that a large amount of lymphocyte apoptosis occurs in lymphoid organs during severe trauma[2].Lymphocytes consist of T and B lymphocytes,among which CD4^(+)T cells were the focus of this study.CD4^(+)T lymphocytes play an important role in the innate immunity.Apoptosis of CD4^(+)T lymphocytes is an important biological process that induces CD4^(+)T cell depletion[3].Numerous studies have shown that CD4^(+)T cell apoptosis participates in many pathological processes of diseases such as HIV infection,cancer,and systemic sclerosis[4].Classical apoptosis is induced by factors that can activate several pathways,including the mitochondrial,endoplasmic reticulum,and death receptor pathways[5].The mitochondrial pathway is mainly activated by the Bcl-2 family[6].The endoplasmic reticulum(ER)pathway is affected by endoplasmic reticulum disorders.Some external factors can trigger the death receptor pathway,such as the binding of TNF-TNFR and the combination of Fas-FasL[7].Considering these pathways,it is feasible to study the specific mechanisms of lymphocyte apoptosis,primarily in CD4^(+)T cells.

Grassland-based ruminant farming systems in China: Potential, challenges and a way forward

With an increasing demand for high-quality,eco-friendly food products and growing concerns over ecological conservation,the development of ecology-based alternatives for ruminant production in China is urgently needed.This review discusses the capabilities for integrating grassland grazing into existing livestock farming systems to meet the contemporary human needs for high-quality foods and ecologically stable environments.Additionally,this review provides a critical analysis of the challenges and future directions associated with grassland-based ruminant farming systems.Integrating nutritional manipulation with grazing manipulation is critical for improving the productivity of grassland-based ecosystems and natural ecological functions.Biodiversity is the primary determinant of grassland ecosystem functions,while the composition and function of rumen microbiomes determine ruminant production performance.Future studies should focus on the following aspects:1)how livestock grazing regulates grassland biodiversity and the mechanisms of grassland biodiversity maintenance,offering an important scientific basis for guiding grazing manipulation practices,including grazing intensity,livestock types,and grazing management practices;to 2)characterize the microbial ecology within the rumen of grazing ruminants to offer clarified instruction for the nutritional manipulation of grazing ruminants.Our recommendation includes creating a transdisciplinary system that integrates ecology,animal nutrition,and animal behavior to develop grassland-based ruminant farming systems sustainably,thereby achieving high-quality animal production and environmentally sustainable goals.

Efficient Water-Saving Irrigation,Space Efficiency and Agricultural Development——Study Based on Spatial Stochastic Frontier Model

xinjiang's agriculture is a typical irrigated agriculture for its agriculture water consumption accounts for 96%of the total water use.As a typical resource-deficient area,the key to xinjiang's agricultural development is saving water.This paper takes the high-efficient water-saving irrigation technology of 41 regions along the Tarim River from 2002 to 2013 as the research object,adopts spatial stochastic frontier model to measure the space efficiency of high-efficient water-saving irrigation technology,and analyzes the effect of water-saving irrigation technology on agricultural development.Results show that the water-saving irrigation technology has a spatial effect,if neglecting it,the error of missing variables will occur,and the average loss will be 6.98 percentage points.The spatial correlation effect promotes the improvement of the efficiency of water-saving irrigation technology.The spatial heterogeneity leads to the spatial imbalance of the efficiency of water-saving irrigation technology.The promotion of agricultural water-saving irrigation technology can increase production and the efficiency of agricultural development.Due to the technical heterogeneity of different types of water-saving irrigation technology,the contribution to the development of agriculture is also different.The study finds that water-saving irrigation technology of drip irrigation in the Tarim River contributes more to agricultural development.
