High-sulfur,heavy petroleum is widely occurring in the Tertiary lacustrine Jiyang sub-basin, Bohai Bay *** are differentiated into two families based on the bulk properties and biomarker *** 1 is characterized by high resins（40%-71%）and sulfur（2%-4%）,and low wax （l%-6%）,with n-alkanes removed by biodegradation,whereas family 2 is characterized by extremely abundant sulfur（3%-10%）,and high asphaltenes（7%-31%）and wax（2%-19%）,with no evidence of microbial *** oils of family 1 are distributed in the reservoir,lower than 1500 m throughout the *** assemblages,such as low pristane/phytane ratios（1 Pr/Ph）and a high abundance of carotane,gammacerane,and dinosterane,suggest that they are derived from the calcareous mudstones and shales among the stratified,saline Es_4~u unit,in addition to the in situ biodegradation-concentrated sulfur ***,the oils of family 2 are identified only in the western Zhanhua and eastern Chezhen depressions,with a depth deeper than 1700 *** properties,together with biomarker ratios,including even-numbered n-alkanes,1 Pr/Ph,trace diasteranes,higher C35 homohopanes,and abundant dibenzothiophene series,with1 dibenzothiophene/phenanthrene,indicate an origin from carbonate source *** X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the carbonate source rock is limited in the Es_4~u unit of the Bonan sag,which is different from most other source rocks in the same *** is suggested that the high-sulfur,heavy oils are generated at the early stage of the oil *** sulfate reduction might be responsible for the occurrence of sulfur species in the high-sulfur,heavy oils,while heavy biodegradation will enhance sulfur concentrations.

An analysis of the polar motion series from VLBI observations

From the reduction of 2893 globally distributed astrometric and geodetic VLBI sessions from August 1979 to the end of 1998, coordinates of 722 radio sources at J2000.0, coordinates and velocities of 128 stations at J1997.0 and about 20 years Earth Orientation Parameters were estimated. From the analysis of the resultant polar motion series, the following are demonstrated: ( i) During the VLBI data span the Markowitz wobble is not exhibited. (ii) The amplitudes of both annual and Chandler wobble show temporal variations, with the former being more obvious than the latter, (iii) Wavelet analysis shows that all the signals in the polar motion series are characterized by temporal variation in amplitudes. If we take any signal as strictly periodic, it is impossible to remove it completely from the polar motion series by least-squares fit because the hypothesis of a constant amplitude conflicts with VLBI measurements, (iv) By applying a filter, the secular polar motion was found to be (2.74 ± 0.01) mas/a

In the aspect of examination by observations and based on a longer data span and improved precision of very_long baseline interferometry observations, the corrections to the IAU 1976 precession constant and the coefficients of IAU 1980 nutation series are solved. The corrections to coefficients of long periodic terms, the detection of the retrograde free core nutation, and the possible relation between the corrections to coefficients of the prograde annual term and the enviromental temperature are also briefly discussed.

The secular aberration drift observed as the apparent proper motion of extragalactic radio sources is caused by the acceleration of the coordinate origin,the Solar System ***,the acceleration can be estimated as a global parameter by using the 30 years global geodetic/astrometric VLBI *** estimation is independent of any kinematic or dynamic model of the Milky Way or statistics *** estimated acceleration in the direction of the Galactic center is (0.80±0.04) cm·s-1 ·yr-1,while the other two components are (0.0-1±0.06) and (0.52±0.05) cm ·s-1 ·yr-1 in the direction along the Solar motion in the Galactic plane and in the direction normal to the Galactic plane,*** estimate of the acceleration independently provides another kinematics parameter without referring to any objects within the Galaxy.

Several homologous series of steranes with alkyl side chains (C1 to C4) at the 3β position have been identified in the Jiyang Eogene lacustrine deposition. It is postulated that its precursors repre sent a new class of steroids, alkylated at the C-3 po sition with a polyhydroxy n-alkane. These precursors may have been formed by the bacterial addition of a ribose sugar to ?2-sterenes, diagenetic alteration products of steroids synthesized by eukaryotes 3-alkyl steroids might substitute for hopanols in bac terial membranes. When they are present in a sam ple, the patterns of the isomer distributions of 3-alky steranes are similar to desmethyl steranes except fo lower rearranged ones. It is shown that the configu rational isomerization of 3-alkyl steranes is trending in line with that of desmethyl steranes with increasing of maturity. The abundance of 3-alkyl steranes may be controlled by the depositional environments; they are primary in saline or near shore lacustrine, mod erate in shallow lacustrine, poor in sub-deep to deep lacustrine relative to the 4-methyl steranes.

The thermal expansion of radio telescopes has been recognized as a significant systematic error in Very Long Baseline Interferometry(VLBI) data analysis. Although the thermal expansion model recommended by International Earth Rotation Service(IERS) Conventions 2010 can achieve millimeter accuracy for the International VLBI Service for Geodesy and Astrometry(IVS) routine telescopes, both the International Terrestrial Reference Frame 2020(ITRF2020) in preparation and the VLBI2010 project encourage the scientific community to reconsider its modeling. To this end, we developed a monitoring system for the Tianma 13.2 m VLBI Global Observing System(VGOS) telescope. Based on the observed data, we refined the IERS expansion model, with results showing that the accuracy of our modified model was improved by 1.9 times. It suggested that the IERS thermal expansion model can achieve the declared millimeter accuracy, and refining its modeling can meet the requirement of 0.3 mm rms stability of the VGOS antenna reference point for the VLBI2010 project.

Organic compositions of lacustrine source rocks in Jiyang super-depression and its implication to petroleum geology

The compositions of organic matter in four immature source rocks from Tertiary strata of Jiyang super-depression, the most typical continental rift subsidence basin in East China, have been stud- ied by different extracting methods with CHCl3, MAC and CS2/NMP, respectively. The results suggest that there are great differences among the chemical compositions of organic matter in the source rocks derived from different depositional environments. About 79% of all the organic matter exists by non- covalent bond in the Es4 source rocks which were deposited under the saline lacustrine, indicating that its organic matter is not the real kerogen, but mainly composed of soluble organic matter which is easy to generate hydrocarbon at lower temperature. This is why the immature oils were derived from Es4 source rocks in Dongying depression. In contrast, around 60% of organic matter exists by covalent bond in Es3 source rocks which were deposited under the deep brackish-fresh lacustrine, showing that Es3 source rocks are mainly composed of kerogen producing mature hydrocarbon at higher temperature. The thermal simulation experiments, upon the remaining solid source rocks which were sequentially extracted by the three solvents, have been carried out. The chloroform extracts from the simulation product have been compared with the other three solvent extracts gained at room temperature. It is obvious that re-markable odd/even predominance (OEP) is mainly the characteristic of soluble organic matter; phytane mostly exists in the soluble organic matter by means of non-covalent bonds and characteristics of soluble organic matter are similar to these in immature oils produced in Jiyang super-depression.
