Unexpected effect of second-shell defect in iron-nitrogen-carbon catalyst for electrochemical CO_(2)reduction reaction:A DFT study

Metal-nitrogen-carbon catalysts(M-N-C)with single-atom active site are highly efficient catalysts for electrochemical CO_(2)reduction reactions(CO_(2)RR).Abundant M-N-C catalysts have been developed,and the coordinated adjacent nitrogen atoms as first-shell environment have been the focus of research of ***,the effect of second-shell carbon environment around the metal-nitrogen moiety is still ***,it is confusing for the discrepancy between the experimental onset potential of around–0.2 V(*** hydrogen electrode,RHE,unless otherwise noted)and theoretical predictions of–0.5 V or higher by the widely-used computational hydrogen electrode(CHE)***,using the explicit solvent model and constant potential method(CPM),the electrochemical interface on Fe-N-C is simulated for CO_(2)*** reveals that the*COOH formation is facilitated in water solvent environment,while the CO_(2)adsorption is *** predicted onset potential of around–0.2 V on Fe-N-C is consistent with experimental *** sp2 non-hexatomic defects introduced into second-shell carbon environment are significantly influential for the CO_(2)*** double five-seven ring(5577)defect is the most active,compared to that with triple five-seven ring(55577)or five-eight ring(58)*** highly flexible structure and altered density of states of Fe site induced by 5775 defects are key to CO_(2)*** study provides new insights into the role of second-shell carbon environment for effective CO_(2)RR,and underlines the importance of CPM and solvent environment in accurate simulation for electrochemical interface.

An end-to-end network for co-saliency detection in one single image

Co-saliency detection within a single image is a common vision problem that has not yet been well addressed. Existing methods often used a bottom-up strategy to infer co-saliency in an image in which salient regions are firstly detected using visual primitives such as color and shape and then grouped and merged into a co-saliency map. However, co-saliency is intrinsically perceived complexly with bottom-up and top-down strategies combined in human vision. To address this problem, this study proposes a novel end-toend trainable network comprising a backbone net and two branch nets. The backbone net uses ground-truth masks as top-down guidance for saliency prediction, whereas the two branch nets construct triplet proposals for regional feature mapping and clustering, which drives the network to be bottom-up sensitive to co-salient regions. We construct a new dataset of 2019 natural images with co-saliency in each image to evaluate the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art accuracy with a running speed of 28 fps.

Assessment of leaching behavior and human bioaccessibility of rare earth elements in typical hospital waste incineration ash in China

Leaching behavior and gastrointestinal bioaccessibility of rare earth elements （REEs） from hospital waste incineration （HWI） fly and bottom ash samples collected from Beijing and Nanjing Cities were assessed. In the same ash sample, the leaching concentrations of individual REEs determined by the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure （TCLP） were higher than those detected by the European standard protocol （EN-type test）, thereby suggesting that the low pH value of leaching solution was an important factor influencing the leacha（bility-of REE. The REE bioaccessibility results, which were evaluated using the physiologically based extraction test （PBET）, indicated that REEs were highly absorbed during fgastric phase by dissolution; and subsequently precipitated and/or re-adsorbed in small intestinal phase. The relative amounts of the total REEs extracted by the TCLP method, EN-type test and PBET test were compared. In addition to the pH value of extraction solutions, the chelating role of REEs witllt organic ligands used in the PBET method was also an important parameter affecting REE adsorption in human body. Additionally, this study showed that REEs were extracted by these methods as concomitants of heavy metals and anions （NO3^-, F^-, SO4^2- , and Cl^-） from HWI ash, which probably caused the remarkably complex toxicity on human body by the exposure pathway.

Leakage in Mold Slit during Inverse Solidification

The liquid steel will be leaked from the slit between the bottom of solidification mold and mother sheet during inversion casting process. By substitution of the actual liquid steel, the Ph-Sn alloy and the numerical simulation can be used to study the fluid flow in the inversion solidification mold, the mother sheet critical speed is determined for preventing the leakage from the slit of bottom. When the mother sheet speed is more than 0.06 m/s, Pb-Sn liquid alloy will not leak from the slit of the mold. Otherwise, the Ph-Sn liquid alloy can leak from the slit of the mold.

Experimental Investigation of Heat Transfer in Microchannel with Inlet Cavitation Structure

Heat transfer of R134 a through the microchannel with an inlet reentrant cavitation structure was investigated for high flux thermal management of electronic *** cavitating flow patterns,pressure,and heat transfer characteristics were studied in the range of effective heat fluxes from 0 to 138.4 W/cm2 with mass flow velocities from 2.12 to 5.23 m/s.A stable and ideal starting point of two phase flow and heat transfer was commendably provided by the inlet cavitation *** existed an axis deviation liquid jet after the *** refrigeration vapor was generated from the cavitation structure but liquidized at the downstream of the *** wall temperature along flow orientation presented an opposite trend under the test states with or without heat *** cavitation structure can significantly suppress the flow oscillation in microchannels and the outlet pressure fluctuation reduced about 72%compared with the fluctuation at the *** heat transfer coefficient had been distinctly impacted by heat flux at lower heat input and then maintained the value nearly constant of 11.0 W/(cm^(2)·K)with the critical heat flux of 88.4 W/cm2.

Processing and analysis of transient pressure measurements from permanent down-hole gauges

With permanent down-hole gauges （PDGs） widely installed in oilfields around the world in recent years, a continuous stream of transient pressure data in real time is now available, which motivates a new round of research interests in further developing pressure transient processing and analysis techniques. Transient pressure measurements from PDG are characterized by long term and high volume data. These data are recorded under unconstrained circumstances, so effects due to noise, rate fluctuation and interference from other wells cannot be avoided. These effects make the measured pressure trends decline or rise and then obscure or distort the actual flow behavior, which makes subsequent analysis difficult. In this paper, the problems encountered in analysis of PDG transient pressure are investigated. A newly developed workflow for processing and analyzing PDG transient pressure data is proposed. Numerical well testing synthetic studies are performed to demonstrate these procedures. The results prove that this new technique works well and the potential for practical application looks very promising.
