This paper presents experimental studies on a compacted expansive soil,from Nanyang,China for investigating the at-rest lateral earth pressureσL of expansive *** k.y studies include(i)relationships between theσL and the vertical stressσV during soak.ng and consolidation,(ii)the influences of initial dry densityρd0 and moisture content w 0 on the vertical and lateral swelling pressures at no swelling strain(i.e.σV0 andσL0),and(iii)evolution of theσL during five long-term wetting-drying *** results demonstrated that the post-soak.ngσL-σV relationships are piecewise linear and their slopes in the passive state(σL>σV)and active state(σLk.ngσL-σV relationships converge to the consolidationσL-σV relationships at a thresholdσV where the interparticle swelling is ***σL0 andσV0 increase monotonically withρd0;however,they show increasing-then-decreasing trends with the w *** extent of compaction-induced swelling anisotropy,which is evaluated byσL0/σV0,reduces with an increase in the compaction energy and molding water ***σL reduces over moisture cycles and the stress relaxation in theσL during soak.ng is *** approach was developed to predict the at-rest soak.ngσL-σV relationships,which requires conventional consolidation and shear strength properties and one measurement of theσL-σV relationships during *** proposed approach was validated using the results of three different expansive soils available in the literature.

The SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants are notorious for their transmissibility,but little is k.own about their subgenomic RNA(sgRNA)*** study applied RNA-seq to delineate the quantitative and qualitative profiles of canonical sgRNA of 118 respiratory samples collected from patients infected with Omicron BA.2 and compared with 338 patients infected with non-variant of concern(non-VOC)-D614G.A unique characteristic profile depicted by the relative abundance of 9 canonical sgRNAs was reproduced by both BA.2 and non-VOCD614G regardless of host gender,age and presence of ***,such profile was lost in samples with low viral load,suggesting a potential application of sgRNA pattern to indicate viral activity of individual patient at a specific time point.A characteristic qualitative profile of canonical sgRNAs was also reproduced by both BA.2 and *** presence of a full set of canonical sgRNAs carried a coherent correlation with crude viral load(AUC¼0.91,95%CI 0.88–0.94),and sgRNA ORF7b was identified to be the best surrogate mark.r allowing feasible routine application in characterizing the infection status of individual *** potentials in using sgRNA as a target for vaccine and antiviral development are worth pursuing.

Thermoelectric(TE)technologies offer a promising approach for directly converting sk.n heat into electricity for wearable *** p-type Sb2Tes and n-type BizTes as top-performing materials at room temperature,their rigid inorganic structure,with ultralow moisture permeability,poses challenges in warm and humid conditions,fostering bacterial growth and potential sk.n *** address this issue,we developed a cross-link.d core-shell structure by electrodepositing Sb_(2)Te_(3)(Bi_(2)Te_(3))onto carbon fiber(CF).This architecture significantly improved the electrical conductivity and the Seebeck.coefficient,resulting in a remark.ble 300-fold increase in the power factor compared to that of pure *** CF/Sb_(2)Te_(3) and CF/Bi2Te films demonstrated optimal power factors of 450 and 121μW·m^(-1)·k.(-2),***,the fabricated films exhibited outstanding moisture permeability,over 3000 g·m^(-2)·d^(-1),exceptional electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency approaching 93 dB,and versatility as sensors for language assistance and respiratory *** attributes underline their broad applicability,emphasizing their suitability for human health protection in diverse scenarios.

In this paper,we consider the clustering of bivariate functional data where each random surface consists of a set of curves recorded repeatedly for each *** k.centres surface clustering method based on marginal functional principal component analysis is proposed for the bivariate functional data,and a novel clustering criterion is presented where both the random surface and its partial derivative function in two directions are *** addition,we also consider two other clustering methods,k.centres surface clustering methods based on product functional principal component analysis or double functional principal component *** results indicate that the proposed methods have a nice performance in terms of both the correct classification rate and the adjusted rand *** approaches are further illustrated through empirical analysis of human mortality data.
