We report our experience with a synchronous case of gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) and intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IPNB) in anelderly woman with neurofibromatosis type 1(NF-1). A 72-year-old woman presented with a 2-mo history of right upper abdominal pain unrelated to diet and indigestion. Fourteen years earlier, she had been diagnosed with NF-1, which manifested as café au lait spots and multiple nodules on the skin. Computed tomography(CT) revealed a multilocular low-density mass with septation, and mural nodules in the right hepatic lobe, as well as a 1.7-cm-sized well-demarcated enhancing mass in the third portion of the duodenum. The patient subsequently underwent right hepatectomy and duodenal wedge resection. We present here the first report of a case involving a synchronous IPNB and GIST in a patient with NF-1. Fe‐TiO2 photocatalysts with different ratios of Fe to Ti were prepared by a sol‐gel process using tetra‐n‐butyl titanium and iron(III) nitrate as Ti and Fe sources, respectively. The photocatalytic function of the prepared composites was examined for the decomposition of low‐concentration(0.1 ppm) airborne benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and o‐xylene(BTEX). The Fe‐TiO2 composites were characterized by energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, UV‐visible spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The time‐series ratios of outlet to inlet concentrations of toluene, ethyl benzene, and o‐xylene target chemicals, as determined by the Fe‐TiO2 composites under visible light exposure, were lower than or similar to those of the reference TiO2 photocatalyst. Moreover, the time‐series ratios of outlet to inlet concentrations of the three compounds, as determined for the Fe‐TiO2 composites, increased as the ratio of Fe to Ti increased from 0.001 to 0.010. In contrast, under UV exposure, the time‐series ratios of outlet to inlet concentrations of BTEX, determined for the Fe‐TiO2 composites, were similar to or higher than those obtained from the reference TiO2 photocatalyst. Fe‐TiO2 composites with an optimal Fe to Ti ratio could effectively be applied for the purification of low‐concentration aromatic organic pollutants.

ZrO2 nanoparticles were prepared under high temperature and high pressure conditions by precipitation from metal nitrates with aqueous potassium hydroxide. The effects of synthesis parameters, such as the concentration of starting solution, pH of starting solution, reaction temperature and time, were discussed. The results show that the ZrO2 nanoparticles are obtained at 230-270 ℃. The average size and size distribution of the synthesized particles are below 10 nm and narrow, respectively. The XRD pattern shows that the synthesized particles are composed of crystalline. The synthesis of ZrO2 nanosized crystalline particles is possible under glycothermal conditions in ethylene glycol solution.

A better understanding of the variation of 210Pb concentrations in the surface air is the key to trace lake sedimentation and catchment erosion, to establish and vali-date the global diffusion model of contaminants, and to as-sess the impact of natural radiation on the ecological system. Basing on the study progresses of the sedimentation, the at-mospheric model and the unique environmental background in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, and starting from December 20, 2001, we made use of a 500 NE Type aerosol sampler to collect filter samples, once a week in the past consecutive two years, in the surface air at Mt. Guanfeng, Guiyang City, China. Synchronous detailed γ -energy spectrometric obser-vations of 210Pb concentrations at both Chinese and U.S. laboratories have shown that the average monthly 210Pb concentration displays a regular U-patterns distribution of annual variations, with high values appearing in winter and low values in late spring and summer. The average annual 210Pb concentrations are estimated to be 2.77±0.63 mBq/m3, about 4 times the average maximum concentrations reported from quite a number of monitoring stations throughout the world. The possible factors affecting the sources of 210Pb in the surface air in the central part of Guizhou Province are: Release of 222Rn from the U-Ra series enriched in the soils; chemical weathering of carbonate rocks; the exploitation, processing and utilization of coal and phosphorous resources. The principal factor controlling the high 210Pb concentrations in the surface air in the central Guizhou and their annual U-pattern distribution is the release of 222Rn. The average monthly 210Pb concentrations show a good negative power- function relationship with increasing precipitation and also show a good negative linear-function relationship with the rise of air temperature in month grouping. Benign prostatic hyperplasia （BPH） is an age-related disease of unknown aetiology characterized by prostatic enlargement coincident with distinct alterations in tissue histomorphology. Instead of therapeutic agents that can cause severe side effects, plant extracts are frequently used to treat BPH. In this study, we investigated whether the Melandrium firmum methanolic extract （MFME） improves BPH, using the testosterone propionate （TP）-induced BPH rat model. Castration was performed via the scrotal route under sodium pentobarbital anaesthesia. BPH in castrated rats was generated via daily subcutaneous injections of TP （3 mg kg-1） dissolved in corn oil, for 4 weeks. MFME was administered daily by oral garage at a dose of 200 mg kg-1 for 4 weeks, along with the TP injections. The control group received injections of corn oil subcutaneously. At the scheduled termination of the experiment, all rats were killed and their prostates weighed; the relative prostate weight （prostate/body weight ratio） was calculated, and histomorphological changes in the prostate were examined. Additionally, we measured the levels of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone （DHT） in the serum and the prostate. Experimentally induced BPH led to marked decreases in the relative prostate weight and the DHT levels in the serum and the prostate. Histologically, BPH was evident in the ventral lobe of the prostate, and MFME treatment suppressed the severity of the lesions. These results indicate that MFME effectively inhibits the development of BPH induced by testosterone in a rat model. Further studies will be needed to identify the compound（s） responsibility for inducing the protective effect against BPH and determine its mechanism of action,

Historically, the lack of melanocytes in the vaginal and cervical mucus membranes has deterred the findings of primary melanomas. Mainly due to its rarity, difficulty to diagnose, and poor prognosis, there has been no absolute agreement on comprehensive treatment so far. In this case report, we present a case of a 46-year-old woman with primary malignant melanoma of uterine cervix. She underwent neo-adjuvant chemotherapy initially followed by a radical hysterectomy. After adjuvant concurrent chemo-radiation, the patient has been followed up for 24 months. So far, she has not shown any symptoms or signs of recurrence. Further studies with more cases based on variable combinations of treatment regimen have been on the way.

The development of a bifunctional photocatalyst that can be utilized for both energy conversion and envi-ronmental remediation is of great practical *** addition,an S-scheme charge transfer process can assist a photocatalyst in efficiently separating photoexcited electrons and holes while maintaining the strong reducibility and oxidizability of the former and the latter,*** developed a bifunctional S-scheme hybrid photocatalyst comprising CdS nanorods and BiOIO_(3)(BIO) nanosheets for efficient antibi-otic degradation and cocatalyst-and sacrificial reagent-free CO_(2) *** combination of visible-light-responsive one-dimensional(1D)CdS and UV-light-responsive 2D BIO resulted in a CdS/BIO hybrid photocatalyst with effective 1D/2D(line)interfacial contact and a broadened optical absorption ***,the CdS/BIO hybrid exhibited exceptional diclofenac degradation and mineralization as well as outstanding CO_(2) reduction activity for CO production,with 95.4%CO selectivity over H_(2)*** exceptional performance of the hybrid catalyst is primarily attributed to the accelerated photoexcited charge transfer caused by the 1D/2D line interfacial contact and the high charge separation and strong redox power of the separated charges,both of which stem from the effective S-scheme charge transfer *** addition,photocorrosion of CdS was substantially mitigated,resulting in the high photocat-alytic performance of the hybrid catalyst even after repeated test *** study provides insight into the rational design of bifunctional S-scheme hybrid photocatalysts for CO_(2) reduction and pollutant degra-dation.

BACKGROUND Distant metastasis occasionally occurs in patients who have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer(CRC), but it occurs in a few patients with stage I CRC. The vagina as a metastasis site has also been reported, albeit rarely. Most reported cases of vaginal metastasis(VM) report their origin from advanced CRC. We encountered a patient who was diagnosed with isolated VM originating from stage I colon cancer(T2N0) and herein present the case of this *** SUMMARY A 63-year-old woman visited the outpatient clinic because of a positive result from a stool occult blood test. She underwent laparoscopic anterior resection and was pathologically diagnosed with stage I(T2N0) sigmoid colon cancer. Neither lymphovascular invasion nor perineural invasion was observed. Ten months following the surgery, isolated vaginal metastases were detected on gynecologic examination. The examination was performed due to vaginal spotting. A transvaginal wide excision was performed, and no other adjuvant treatment was provided after discussion with a multidisciplinary team and the ***, a new VM was discovered after 33 mo. An additional transvaginal excision was performed. To date, there has been no evidence of further disease progression. From the time of diagnosis of VM, the patient’s overall survival has been 54 *** VM can occur as a result of early-stage colorectal cancer. Surgeons should consider the possibility of VM following complaints of gynecologic symptoms following surgery.
