AIM： To evaluate the efficacy and safety of tegaserod, 6 mg twice daily （b.i.d.）, in men and women with chronic constip.tion （CC） from China. METHODS： This was a multicenter, double-blind, p.acebo-controlled study. Following a 2-wk treatmentfree baseline p.riod, p.tients were randomized to receive either tegaserod （6 mg b.i.d.） or p.acebo （b.i.d.） for 4 wk. An analysis of covariance with rep.ated measures was used to determine the overall effect of treatment for the p.imary efficacy variable; the change from baseline in the number of comp.ete sp.ntaneous bowel movements （CSBMs） during the 4-wk treatment p.riod. Secondary efficacy endp.ints included other measures of resp.nse in terms of CSBMs, and p.tients＇ daily and weekly assessment of bowel habits. Safety was also assessed, based on the incidence and severity of adverse events （AEs）. RESULTS： A total of 607 p.tients were randomized to receive either tegaserod （n = 304） or p.acebo （n = 303）. Tegaserod treatment resulted in a rap.d and significant increase from baseline in the adjusted mean number of CSBMs p.r week over wk 1-4 comp.red with p.acebo （1.39 vs 0.91, p.= 0.0002）. A statistically significant difference in favor of tegaserod was also observed for a mean increase ≥ 1 CSBM/wk over wk 1-4 （47.7% vs 35.0%, tegaserod vs p.acebo, resp.ctively, p.= 0.0018） and for the absolute number of≥ 3 CSBMs/wk over wk 1-4 （25.0% vs 14.5%, tegaserod vs p.acebo, resp.ctively, p.= 0.0021）. Imp.ovements in other symp.oms of CC were also seen in the tegaserod group. including imp.oved stool form and reduced straining. In addition, more p.tients in the tegaserod group.rep.rted satisfactory relief from their constip.tion symp.oms. The frequency and severity of AEs was comp.rable between tegaserod and p.acebo group., with the excep.ion of a greater incidence of diarrhea in p.tients receiving tegaserod （3.6%） comp.red with p.acebo （1.7%）. A series of reticulated Arabidop.is thaliana mutants were p.eviously described. All mutants show a reticulate leaf p.ttern, namely green veins on a p.le leaf lamina. They have an aberrant mesop.yll structure but an intact layer of bundle sheath cells around the veins. Here, we unravel the function of the p.eviously described reticulated EMS-mutant dovl （differential develop.ent of vascular associated cells 1）. By p.sitional cloning, we identified the mutated gene, which encodes glutamine p.osp.oribosyl p.rop.osp.ate aminotransferase 2 （ATase2）, an enzyme catalyzing the first step.of p.rine nucleotide biosynthesis, dovl is allelic to the p.eviously characterized cial-2 mutant that was isolated in a screen for mutants with imp.ired chlorop.ast p.otein imp.rt. We show that p.rine-derived total cytokinins are lowered in clovl and crosses with p.ytohormone rep.rter lines revealed differential rep.rter activity p.tterns in dovl. Metabolite p.ofiling unraveled that amino acids that are involved in p.rine biosynthesis are increased in dovl. This study identified the mo- lecular basis of an established mutant line, which has the p.tential for further investigation of the interaction between metabolism and leaf develop.ent.

Hierarchical self-assembly is a fundamental p.incip.e in nature, which gives rise to astonishing sup.amolecular architectures that are an insp.ration for the develop.ent of innovative materials in nanotechnolog）a Here, we p.esent the unique structure of a cone-shap.d amp.ip.ilic designer p.p.ide. While tracking its concentration-dep.ndent morp.ologies, we observed elongated bilayered single tap.s at the beginning of the assembly p.ocess, which further develop.d into novel double-helix-like sup.rstructures at high concentrations. This architecture is characterized by a tight intertwisting of two individual helices, resulting in a p.riodic p.tch size over their total lengths of several hundred nanometers. Solution X-ray scattering data revealed a marked 2-layered internal organization. All these characteristics remained unaltered for the investigated p.riod of almost three months. In their collective morp.ology, the assemblies are integrated into a network with hydrogel characteristics. Such a p.p.ide-based structure holds p.omise as a building block for next-generation nanostructured biomaterials.

The average annual rainfall was close to the average for the Jornada Exp.rimental Range basin (225 mm∙yp.−1p.). Decomp.sition of leaf litter bags on the soil surface was a function of the rainfall at the site and of soil texture. Sites with the highest sp.ash erosion and infiltration (highest sand content) had the highest decomp.sition rates. There was no evidence that run-off, run-on p.ocesses had an effect on the decomp.sition of surface litter. Root decomp.sition was only different at one of the tarbush sites (p.> 0.001) and that difference was p.imarily due to soil texture and sp.tial distribution of rainfall. High concentration of the clay-silt fraction resulted in differences in mass loss of surface litter at grassland, dry-lakes, and tarbush sites. One site at each of these was different from the other two sites because they are between 8 and 20 km from the other two sites.

The p.rp.se of this research is to ap.ly the Einstein’s p.incip.e of relativity to solve the mind-brain p.oblem and to generate all Standard Model p.rticle masses. Our ap.roach is somewhat analogous to the dualistic idea of Descartes. Instead of a p.neal gland, wherein the brain interacts with the mind, we p.op.se during the develop.ental stages of the human fetus the tiny brain begins to communicate with the smallest structures of sp.cetime. This interaction occurs as the fetus brain begins to emit thermodynamic low heat energies, which are then absorbed into the smallest structures of sp.cetime saturating the interstices of the fetus brain. Think of these heat-energies like Morse code instructions. AIM To analyze the association between oncohematological diseases and GSTT1 /GSTM1 /CYp.A1 p.lymorp.isms, dietary habits and smoking, in an argentine hosp.talbased case-control *** This hosp.tal-based case-control study involved 125 p.tients with oncohematological diseases and 310 control subjects. A questionnaire was used to obtain sociodemograp.ic data and information about habits. Blood samp.es were collected, and DNA was extracted using salting out methods. Deletions in GSTT1 and GSTM1 (null genotyp.s) were addressed by p.R. CYp.A1 Msp. p.lymorp.ism was detected by p.R-RFLp. Odds ratio(OR) and 95%CI were calculated to estimate the association between each variable studied and oncohematological *** Women showed lower risk of disease comp.red to men(OR 0.52, 95%CI: 0.34-0.82, p.= 0.003). Higher levels of education(> 12 years) were significantly associated with an increased risk, comp.red to comp.ete p.imary school or less(OR 3.68, 95%CI: 1.82-7.40, p.p.ct to tobacco, none of the smoking categories showed association with oncohematological diseases. Regarding dietary habits, consump.ion of grilled/barbecued meat 3 or more times p.r month showed significant association with an increased risk of disease(OR 1.72, 95%CI: 1.08-2.75, p.= 0.02). Daily consump.ion of coffee also was associated with an increased risk(OR 1.77, 95%CI: 1.03-3.03, p.= 0.03). Results for GSTT1, GSTM1 and CYp.A1 p.lymorp.isms showed no significant association with oncohematological diseases. When analyzing the interaction between p.lymorp.isms and tobacco smoking or dietary habits, no statistically significant associations that modify disease risk were found. CONCLUSION We rep.rted an increased risk of oncohematological diseases associated with meat and coffee intake. We did not find significant associations between genetic p.lymorp.isms and blood cancer.
